Currently struggling with not one but TWO 3 month old cocker pups. This video has been invaluable. Took them out one at a time today instead. Almost instant success with this. Brilliant thank you for sharing this gold!!
You’re a brave man 😂
Thanks so much for the videos. I have several professional handler friends, one of whom has owned and trained many working English Cockers. Great videos to help with the finer points. I have trained many labs but there are some key differences and a lot of the fun is learning with the dog. Thanks brother from North Florida.
Brilliant stuff, very precise and to the point training tips no BS.
Excellent. Love this basic training intro example/tip video. Now off to find more...
Just found your video now, brilliant training, I have a very active working cocker spaniel, can’t wait to watch more of your training videos.

Nice honest, open video 👌🏻 Good stuff
Well done, It was me who commented on the initial training to heel video. Glad you took a couple of minutes to explain how you start this training right at the beginning in this video; very helpful to everyone. Thanks.
Penny Gange hope that was help
Great video 👍 thank you
Really good video. Thanks for this.
Amazing.
I love these videos! We're preparing to get our first family dog this summer and we want to start off well and have a well trained dog. It's so useful to hear about things to do from early on and things not to do! Thank you 😊
Hope I was able to help
Excellant..👍

Hi Chris. Great videos and just in the process of getting a new cocker puppy. Live in Cumbria but you do a set of course videos at all?
If you're looking for some help John send me a message on my Facebook page Hampshire spaniel training
Great video. We'll be getting a springer pup in the next couple of weeks. How do you make the dog look at you constantly when doing the lead work? Do you use food treats as rewards, or just praise? Thanks.
My puppy is probably a bit young, 12 weeks, for the lead but I decided to let her get used to the feeling of it around her neck in the house. I bought the puppy lead from Chris's website and Winnie is obsessed with the knobble bead on the end!
Hi there Annette I don’t use those leads until the pup is over six or seven months old as they are too big for young pup🐶👍
@@hampshirespanieltrainingwi9314 Thanks for that Chris - very fast reply x
@@hampshirespanieltrainingwi9314 Chris, please could you tell me what lead I need to purchase for this style of training? Thanks, Char x
Like very much
Get on with it ffs and cut the waffle 😂yawn
Really sorry will try and make better videos 😔
Really enjoyed this video, very helpful for a beginner. I wish I had have done this with my girl when she was this sort of age... She is 9 months now is it a good idea to start introducing her to this now?
Edan Challen it’s always possible to start at any time 👍🐾
So you find a nice quite spot an you let you puppy walk loose ?
⚡👍
That dog is beautifully trained. But do you have videos of how you get a spaniel 5-7 months old to do that? This video is misleading because it doesn't answer the quesition -- how did you get him to be so good? And from what age? And how long did it take?
Fantastic content. We have a 13 week old Sprocker…double of the pup in this vid. So do you recommend not walking at this early age and just focus on training in a location with little distraction? Cheers
Hi there Daniel thanks for the question if you want any help perhaps contact me on my Facebook page via Dm cheers Chris
I have owned and trained Working Sheepdogs before but never a Springer Spaniel. On the first day whilst purchasing supplies after buying her (sudden but long story) a lady was helping us get the right lead. She left the store and then came back to advise me to train our puppy to the whistle. I immediately started looking up KZhead and found your videos. Are the whistle commands you use standard or are they ones that you have found that are right for you?
Fairly standard some might have slight variation on stuff ..
We're getting our sprocker pup at 8 weeks old, When would you say is the earliest we can start this type of training with him please? Alot have said to start from day one. Thanks 😊 x
Hi there if you’re looking for some help with training perhaps go across to my Facebook page Hampshire spaniel training where you can private message me kind regards Chris
When would you say is a good age to Start using a Slip Lead on a pup? Would you always keep to a slip or Use a Coller and Leash for Town Walks - Thank you☺️
We have an American Cocker Spaniel and we have rescued him. He is 1 year old at the end of June this month however he has lots of bad habits and we are struggling a bit with him. Jumping and pulling on the lead, we are doing our best but I get frustrated when he jumps up at people and completely ignores me and any commands. Help x
Hello Sue What your dog does is normal I recommend sticking a knee out when he jumps up not to hurt him but to make sure he jumps down.
@@aperson8479 This is a simple but very effective technique- sadly its difficult to get other people to do this always. But you can .
Wat age is the pup in this video?
you a carp angler as well
Yes mate.. 👍 Check our my KZhead channel The weekday Carper
What's the name of the water proofs your wearing mate need some for my dog walk
Shaun Richardson they are mad by ESP CARP Fishing brand
After a training session, is it OK to let your dog run & play for a bit?
Kevin Ethridge hi Kevin thank you for the question. Personally it’s not something I do. But once I have a good delivery on a Retrieve I quite often finish with letting the dog run in on a long retrieve into the wind this can also aid your dogs marking ability whilst keeping some fun to the end of the session.
When you say you don’t expose your dog to anything other than training do you mean you just cage or kennel them?
Robert Mansell So yes they have their training and then either in the kennel or in a crate obviously if you’re bringing them up in the house they are slightly more exposed to other things. The main thing is they’re not being exposed to the delights of being domestic pet Which will compromise the result in most cases. 👍
don't you use treats ?
