ThePredaZor Congrats to you buddy... Partner and I both took our bruins. Mine a nice 3 year old and Patrick's was probably a 4 year old weighing in at just over 200lbs. Mine probably around the 180 mark but not weighed. Took mine from stand on opening day after a couple hours and Pat got his on the Thursday late afternoon also from stand. Not far from your hunt. We were just off Hwy 144 20 miles north of Gogama. Usually hunt moose there but Russ at Green Wilderness Lodge gave us a great deal when he had a cancellation. Strange hunting in 30 degree plus weather! Just thawed pelt today to get a couple snaps and measured just over 4 feet from snout to tail. Blueberry season just finished so they were hitting the baits. Could easily become my favourite game meat! Had a nice white V on chest. 12 gauge single shot Winchester with slug and he dropped 3 feet away. Send me a photo and I'll send you mine...Des

Why not make sure that you are truly saved by Jesus Christ and practice this way. Remorsefully confess with your heart your sins to Jesus Christ who is God and tell Him that you right now are repenting of your sins and you want to be born again of the Spirit from above. Tell Jesus that you are remorsefully sorry for breaking His commandments and that you are begging for forgiveness from Him. Allow His blood from the cross to wash away your sins. After this is done with your heart successfully the Holy Spirit will come to live within you and He will rebuild you from the inside out. Look for signs that you are saved. Things like spreading the good news from Jesus, getting other people saved, a craving for the word of God, reading the Bible, etc… These things are known as a calling and fruit bearing. If you're not bearing fruit then keep doing it. Sometimes it takes time to get saved. Read Matthew chapter 13 from the King James Bible. God bless!!!!!!!

I have never hunted bear just deer and wild pigs but hey if you eat the meat and do something with the skin and dont waste it great. The chocolate bear is beautiful the black bear seems older and tired...(HE SURE IS A MONSTER...) and you got him... would be nice if the Chocolate bear would come into range too. I like the cross bow better and actually it is said bow hunting is more humane than gun... idk...

Actually, in plenty of places, the meat is allowed to spoil (legally). In Alberta, for instance, you can leave the meat and take the hide. I don't hunt them but my buddy does and he takes the meat. Done in a pressure cooker or slow roaster, it's delicious. However, most people I know do NOT eat bear meat, for fear of trichinosis.

+JonBoy Thank you (and everyone) for the educated response. I understand the thrill of the hunt, however I just think it's pointless if you're killing something just to kill it. If you're doing it for survival or to eat it, that's different. And I don't buy the whole thinking of, 'well if we don't do it, they will overpopulate...'.. I think mother nature and God have done quite fine without our help. They aren't encroaching, if anything, we need to be thinned out a bit and I think God would thank the bears if they set up a human hunting season.

Sounds like you talk to God a lot. It's interesting that you take that position, given that He told men to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28) and gave them full dominion over the earth (same verse). Men are made to rule the earth and everything in it is given them for their use. Not abuse, mind you, and I agree wholeheartedly that killing for the sake of killing is pointless (wrong, even). In regards to population control, whether we control the populations or nature does it, does it really matter? If they overpopulate (and they do), they die a slow, painful death of starvation. That's hardly as "gentle" as a well-placed arrow or bullet.

Actually, in plenty of places, the meat is allowed to spoil (legally). In Alberta, for instance, you can leave the meat and take the hide. I don't hunt them but my buddy does and he takes the meat. Done in a pressure cooker or slow roaster, it's delicious. However, most people I know do NOT eat bear meat, for fear of trichinosis.

+JonBoy Thank you (and everyone) for the educated response. I understand the thrill of the hunt, however I just think it's pointless if you're killing something just to kill it. If you're doing it for survival or to eat it, that's different. And I don't buy the whole thinking of, 'well if we don't do it, they will overpopulate...'.. I think mother nature and God have done quite fine without our help. They aren't encroaching, if anything, we need to be thinned out a bit and I think God would thank the bears if they set up a human hunting season.

It's interesting that you take that position, given that He told men to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28) and gave them full dominion over the earth (same verse). Men are made to rule the earth and everything in it is given them for their use. Not abuse, mind you, and I agree wholeheartedly that killing for the sake of killing is pointless (wrong, even). In regards to population control, whether we control the populations or nature does it, does it really matter? If they overpopulate (and they do), they die a slow, painful death of starvation. That's hardly as "gentle" as a well-placed arrow or bullet.
+Pro Angler....what did nature do for the hundreds of millions of years before man came along to "help" manage populations? Ask a dodo or a passenger pigeon..or maybe a grizzly bear in Mexico...

thats fine but the God i know has provided animals for our food and clothing so i make sure i kill the animal with one clean kill shot and of course i ask before hunting for success and thank God for it... Oh yes the peace and quiet in the woods is wonderful too...
