  • I don't use the detergent nor salt. I put the powder in the plug hole first. Wait a bit. Then i add same quantity of vinegar. Leave it for 20 minutes. Then I pour boiling water down the plug holes. Works every time. Cleans generally as well as blockages and smells fresh. Whilst we have traps and don't throw anything down the drain, it's usually product build-ups that need getting rid of (especially in the bathroom). Remember to keep windows open too for ventilation whilst doing this.

  • I just now ran across this. When I first bought my home, 10 years ago, I rented it out. Hubby and I moved back in last year. We have been having plumbing issues, so I tried this on my guest bathroom sink. I put in the mixture, and it just sat there, no movement at all. I decided to put on the gloves and take off the stopper. OMG! What a horrible black mess it was! I started pulling out the awful mess and the mixture started flowing. My drain is now clean and running well. Thank you! Now, I need to figure out how to get the tub drain undone!

  • Or just pour about a quarter cup of detergent into the bowl, add a bunch of salt, with your finger mix well. Meanwhile pour the baking soda into the drain, no need to use a messing cup or spoon. Pour the salty soap brine into the drain. No extra dishes to need to be washed. One bowl. 20 seconds of prep time. When this doesn’t work, you can always try Drano, because the soap and salty water won’t dissolve all the hair and yuck that’s trapped inside the P trap. Regular maintenance with this method works better than trying to get an environmental safe solution that most likely won’t.

    • @@pegs1659 because of the soap not because of the baking soda and vinegar, when you mix both they turned into carbon dioxide gas, that's why it bubbles , this chemical reaction makes the gas and then disappear. And carbon dioxide is not a solution to clean. It is what you exhale when breathing. You can use just one of them, not both together when cleaning, otherwise you're just wasting time and money.

  • Bad smells in the sink Generally mean the your U bend needs clearing thats easy peassy to do . And In many cases you don’t even need to use tools . Modern Plastic U bends are generally just hand tight, making it easy for the removal and replacement of the U bend by hand . that’s were the stink is coming from And don’t forget to place a bucket under the sink. When you remove your U bend as you wash it out using the same sink you’re fixing . stop wasting all those kitchen ingredients and soap that should be the last option !!

Add bacteria to the septic tank every 3 months or sooner if you see a slow drain and the P traps are not clogged then your septic tank needs cleaned or bacteria added
