Even the NA version of this engine scoots in first gear pretty darn fast... I just roll the throttle in first gear on my FWD 6 to get traction first .

It's always a very adequate amount of torque for passing or merging and at times feels pretty fast. 1-4 gears (auto) pulls hard and 5-6 useful for cruising. I get anywhere from 5.8L-6.8L/100km with it too!

@Sababa Hummus facts , 18 N/A Mazda 3 2.5 ; it is very quick on first and second gear for me, when I took out my spare wheel it was a bit noticeably quicker. Haven't tried ethanol-free gas yet but I can't wait to try. Do I just fill it up with a full tank and give time for the ECU to adapt to it? I heard that 88 octane is not a good fuel to put in the 2.5 due to carbon issues. Not sure if that's true

What have done to tune it? 8.6 seconds is really concerning for 2.0 if you have put money on it. Imagine I have a 1300kg Turbo Peugeot 207(fwd) that does mid 7s. And it's 190hp so not that impressive.

That's pretty quick! I too have a Mazda 3 which is a base trim with 6MT so, it doesn't go this fast but has most of the bells and whistles of the premium trims, it's still plenty fun to drive and gets pretty good fuel economy. I also love the interior and for the price you can't beat it.

Interesting, using 91 octane on a brand new 3 sedan turbo I managed 6.5s 0 to 62mph (100kmh) and using 92 octane after break in period I managed 6.2s in my own Mazda3 HB turbo.

Don’t launch it so high. You get the best take off at 1.2k rpm since the torque converter takes control. You can see your car struggle at first to get going after it’s launch.

my mazda3 i grand touring from 2014 has more acceleration than this. you gotta really get a feel for skyactkv and squeeze the throttle slowly, but increase with torque and you can actually make insane power

I have a 2010 hatchback with 180k Miles it goes 0-60 in 8 seconds but after stripping the rear seats, spare tire, And rear seat belts, it does it in 7.4. I still have OEM seats with carpet and sunroof. No turbo. Ur car can definately do it in 5.6 it was spinning too much for awd, u gotta warm up those tires and find the right road. Strip the interior, add bucket seats, remove the resonator and muffler but leave the cat on so u can pass smog it’ll definately get to 5.2 or under .

Its the torque curve this car has, thats why it shifts so early. Thos car has no juoce above 5k so the car sholifts super early in auto to keep the boost up

Pretty sure your trim is around 7.7s. Running 93 in this car will easily get you below 6 seconds. Ad a tune and your pushing towards 4.

@@Allcarnews Power starts to drop off after a bit above 5k RPM. That's a thing with a lot of turbocharged cars. They are not like NA cars where redline shifts = fastest times. You actually have to look at the power curves to find out the best shift points. You can try manual mode to see if revving to the redline helps. I heavily doubt it, especially considering Sky 2.5T is optimized for low-end torque. I personally see the Sky 2.5T as a diesel that happens to run on gasoline.

so, it is 100% faster than what i got here. I’ve determined it was not 100% on fully premium fuel, but rather a mix. It makes more power on full premium. People get much quicker times i’ve seen online aswell and yes you can tune it!

Manual mode is an option, but from factory, power dips after about 5-5.4k RPM. JB4 and different mods help to even out the power through the RPM range though

I heard that 88 octane is not a good fuel to put in the 2.5 due to carbon issues. Not sure if that's true

What have done to tune it? 8.6 seconds is really concerning for 2.0 if you have put money on it. Imagine I have a 1300kg Turbo Peugeot 207(fwd) that does mid 7s. And it's 190hp so not that impressive.

That's pretty quick! I too have a Mazda 3 which is a base trim with 6MT so, it doesn't go this fast but has most of the bells and whistles of the premium trims, it's still plenty fun to drive and gets pretty good fuel economy. I also love the interior and for the price you can't beat it.

I test drove this. It’s quite fast. And it’s deceptively quiet inside. I got it up to 180km/hr and it felt solid, stable, and quiet.

Just got a 24 mazda 3 manual, unfortunately they don’t make them with turbos but it’s cool that they still provide it as an option. Same tranny as the miata

Interesting, using 91 octane on a brand new 3 sedan turbo I managed 6.5s 0 to 62mph (100kmh) and using 92 octane after break in period I managed 6.2s in my own Mazda3 HB turbo.

It's good indeed, but I was expecting a little more tbh. I have an 8th accord auto V6 that does the same time. I would have thought that a 2.5T with 250hp, better and newer transmission would trash my NA old AT and heavy V6 sedan

Yep. only put premium in it the week i had it. I believe there was a bit of front wheel spin, there was a bit of loose gravel on the road

Don’t launch it so high. You get the best take off at 1.2k rpm since the torque converter takes control. You can see your car struggle at first to get going after it’s launch.
We got much better results from the Turbo hatch i reviewed. there is a trick to turn off traction control, pop it in manual and in sport mode and launch that way

I feel like they shift too soon. Why put an 8k tach in them with a 6200 red line when they shift them selves at 5 grand? In manual mode the rev limiter comes on at 6100
my mazda3 i grand touring from 2014 has more acceleration than this. you gotta really get a feel for skyactkv and squeeze the throttle slowly, but increase with torque and you can actually make insane power
If aftermarket are available u can prob lower weight and get more acceleration
there are tunes available too
The fact that i get less wheel spin and better acceleration from my front wheel drive Mazdaspeed 3 shows how much Mazda totally missed it with that car. The all wheel drive system seems front bias af.

@@Allcarnews i produce the same amount of torque with my car too. There’s a lot of cars out there with more torque that doesn’t peel the tires like that. It’s just a front bias all wheel drive being from bias.
I test drove one today and the performance was underwhelming from what I expected. My 2016 turbo civic with a $400 ECU chip in it was faster. A lot of turbo lag.
Tuned I think these could make way better power. Falls flat in the gearing I think

I have a 2010 hatchback with 180k Miles it goes 0-60 in 8 seconds but after stripping the rear seats, spare tire, And rear seat belts, it does it in 7.4. I still have OEM seats with carpet and sunroof. No turbo. Ur car can definately do it in 5.6 it was spinning too much for awd, u gotta warm up those tires and find the right road. Strip the interior, add bucket seats, remove the resonator and muffler but leave the cat on so u can pass smog it’ll definately get to 5.2 or under .

Its the torque curve this car has, thats why it shifts so early. Thos car has no juoce above 5k so the car sholifts super early in auto to keep the boost up
Just know you know, I have the 2019 3 with 2nd trim level and no turbo and it runs about the same.

Pretty sure your trim is around 7.7s. Running 93 in this car will easily get you below 6 seconds. Ad a tune and your pushing towards 4.

@@Allcarnews Power starts to drop off after a bit above 5k RPM. That's a thing with a lot of turbocharged cars. They are not like NA cars where redline shifts = fastest times. You actually have to look at the power curves to find out the best shift points. You can try manual mode to see if revving to the redline helps. I heavily doubt it, especially considering Sky 2.5T is optimized for low-end torque. I personally see the Sky 2.5T as a diesel that happens to run on gasoline.

so, it is 100% faster than what i got here. I’ve determined it was not 100% on fully premium fuel, but rather a mix. It makes more power on full premium. People get much quicker times i’ve seen online aswell and yes you can tune it!

Nah not at all. Only real issue is the engine isn’t tuned much for performance. it’s a low end torque beast. doesn’t rev high.

Yeah it’s weird, even in the manual modes it auto upshifts. It’s almost like a diesel engine, lots of low end torque with the turbo tuning here.

Manual mode is an option, but from factory, power dips after about 5-5.4k RPM. JB4 and different mods help to even out the power through the RPM range though
