  • I was there in the 80's and cruised Ocean Blvd with my brother. We borrowed my Dad's car. Being from Canada, we had never experienced that before. We both met many nice people in the next car when we were all at a stand still. We had a chance to talk to many people our age. 20 and 17. If you have ever seen the movies American Graffetti it was the same excitement. The next day, my brother asked a very pretty girl at a mom and pop motel desk. How did all these kids who cruised the ocean Blvd had such nice new cars. She said our parents buy them for us to drive in trade to work the front desk of their parent's motels during the summer months. He laughed and said wow lucky. She smiled and said it was good and bad. Great memories and now married my husband love MB and planning a trip this April 2024. Can't wait. But I hear cruising is illegal. Too many traffic jams. Too bad. It was a social event that was fun and I felt safe.

    • We cruised in the 80's and 90's and had a blast. Everyone was between 16-23, and there were thousands of us. It was great. I've shown pictures to our daughter and she's mad that they don't do that any more. Well, some people still (kind of) cruise the Blvd. on weekends during the summer, but it's not the same. Most of the crowds are in other places like Broadway at the Beach or Barefoot Landing, or other places around the beach. And instead of hollering, talking and making new friends, everyone is on their cell phones. We had to stand in line at a pay phone - because we were cool like that. Lol Thanks for sharing your memories with us. Hope you have a great time this April. Have fun.

  • Hey, I’m from the area too! I can totally agree that the boulevard is fun (Ripleys, Gay dolphin, etc), but it can be super dangerous!! There’s just too many shooting incidents. I wouldn’t advise visiting that area at night. Maybe you can throw that in your description. Myrtle is a beautiful place with lots of fun things to do, but you just have to watch out for some areas, that’s all 😊😊😊

  • Ok, so I was initially set to take my family consisting of 2 teenagers and 2 adults to Virginia beach. I decided to look more into Myrtle Beach since I’d never been before. After seeing this video, I was sure I wanted to change my flight booking to Myrtle Beach. It looks like it’s so much more fun than VB…That is of course until I started reading the comments that state how dangerous it is. Now I’m afraid. Should I stay with VB? Or are there pointers you can give on how to go and enjoy MB without being terrified something bad will happen?

    @Latoyahmeter@Latoyahmeter9 ай бұрын
    • Personally, we've never been to VB, but very beach has its good and bad things. We've lived and vacationed here in MB all our lives. We've never been terrified. I'm not sure what you read, but I think if people use good judgement and not go to sketchy places, they would be fine. We film MB during the day, but others (Smoky Mountain Family) and (Retro Myrtle Beach Guy) film the strip more at night and they don't seem to be terrified. If you do travel here, hit us up and maybe we'll see you out. Safe travels wherever you decide.

    • @@BeachinwiththeBoones If you kind of scroll through this and some other MB videos as well you’ll kind of get a view as to the negativity I’m talking about. There’s been mention of a lot of shootings/ murder, robbery, heavy drug activity, etc. Ppl just saying it used to be really nice but now it’s a “sh*t hole”. I didn’t make this up and have no reason to drag MB. So, plz don’t snap back as if I am. I’m asking questions to get information. That’s it and that’s all. I can’t use ‘good judgment and not go to sketchy places’ if I don’t ask questions and get info to try to figure that out. Can you steer me in the right direction of where I should go or avoid going? I don’t have these answers as I don’t live there and I’ve never been there before. And btw, I appreciate you so much for responding and offering to ‘see me out.’

      @Latoyahmeter@Latoyahmeter9 ай бұрын
    • Sorry, didn't mean to sound snappy. If that's the right word. Lol. Sometimes my wording sounds different than what I'm saying. There are some shootings and stuff, just like most cities, but mostly at night and downtown MB-with large crowds and things. We go to those same places but mainly during the daytime and don't see any bad things. (Besides a few homeless) but still, they never even approach us. But if you come this way, for your first trip, it may be better to stay on the south end, like Surfside Beach, or the north, like North Myrtle. Then you can drive around MB during the day and get a good feel for things. There are a ton of fun things to do, see, and great places to eat with a view in and around MB so you will have a great time. Hope this helps and look at some of our other videos for places to stay and to eat around MB and the surrounding beaches. Just remember, larger vacation places, will also attract people causing trouble for those wanting to have a good vacation, but 99% of the time, it's fine. We love it here and go up and down the Grand Strand all the time. Just saw this message, it gets buried after a while. If you respond, try to do it on a newer video and I can reply faster. Thanks for reaching out. And I hope this didn't sound snappy. Lol Thanks again.

Mr Boone, however, sounds as if he's reading a bedtime story to 4 year olds when he narrates a video. Maybe let Ms Boone handle the talking. • Ok i have to put my 2 cents in about tje helicopter rides. A few years ago me and a friend decided. To do this. We picked the $179 trip. We were informed headsets were extra but they were nice. Enough to give them at no cost, and to be honest we really didnt need them since our pilot didnt say 2 words and it wasnt super loud without them. They say the pilots fly for tips amd ours had a $20 bill clipped to his inst panel. Would of been nice for some basic info like how high we would be flying and how fast and to even point out some key features of myrtle. One would think the more effort he made the. More he would make. So take it as it is. Of you never flew in a helicopter this is a cool thing to try once. A few things to remember $20 ride dont get you much and.if your self Conscious about your weight, you might wanna rethink this. You have to be weighed to ride amd they just blurt out your weight

They then try to upsell you to spend hundreds for an actual tour. Shame on you for having it on your "best" things to do list.

    • Sorry you feel that way and was unimpressed. These helicopter rides are the "biggest scams" around the world in just about every tourist spot on the planet. Not just MB. But just to clarify, we paid $20 and did a complete video about it. kzhead.info/sun/ZMl7dphvoGaleIU/bejne.html . It shows a simple generic $20 ride. Nothing upsold and it did more than just go up and down. It circled over the ocean - just like it says. It may have only lasted for about 5 min, but if I was a tourist, and have never flown in a helicopter before, I would pay $20 to go up and down. But we just saw they've increased the price to $25, so we may do another video this summer.
