  • It makes my day to see these old Jeeps doing what they were designed to do especially when some of the drivers are young. Long live the old Willys and Ford military jeeps.

  • This is the true spirit of Jeeping. Leaf springs - still legit. That four door wrangler just isnt a real Jeep. No offense to the owner but its outclassed by the older rigs. It doesnt take 37 inch tires to get down most trails, just good driving. That old iron just keeps on rollin.

    • I've had a flatlander, 2 CJ-5's , 1 CJ-7, a 74 Bronco throughout 43 years of doing the Rubicon. I bought a 08 Jk and built it up. Sorry old boy but the JK is the best vehicle hands down. Although the 74 Bronco was close,it needed coils on the rear to make the articulation king like the JK!! And it doesn't take 7 to 10 tries to get through a small rock garden. The flatlander was first in a long line of awesome toys for playing in the the rocks!.

  • The flat fenders look more in their elements than the Wranglers. I have a 2 door JK with 35's, and even that would be almost too big. I used to have a Suzuki LJ 80 and it was so small, it would go anywhere. Lowest structure was the double box beam, so it was easy to teeter totter over logs and rocks. If I got stuck I would put it in gear, pull out the choke to get the revs up, get out and push.....then run like hell and jump in. Those were the days. Cheers.

With all those knocks in place you folks did a wonderful job of effectively using everything those little jeeps had to give. Its one thing to go over this stuff in a modified rock crawler its a whole different matter to do it in a stock Willys Jeep you guys did a fantastic job and should rightly be very proud!!!

No way would any one of those jeeps out drive that rubicon. When you spent 2k on the old Willys, you don't care if you destroy it. Good ol momentum got you though it. I can do the same with any new SUV if I don't have to buy new parts :) I love the old jeeps, but let's not get to ahead of ourselves.
