    • N, Osaka said “ i think I feel ready to win on different surfaces” I will believe it when I see it, grass and clay are 2 completely different surfaces than hard courts, you can’t slide on hard/grass courts, Clay is a tough surface to play on against clay court specialist’s. she is a hard court specialist.

  • It seems like after a few years of many surprises in Grand Slams, the WTA has found a new dominant champion. Naomi had a really tough draw and she did THAT ! Congrats to Jennifer Brady as well, she is constantly improving and she might become a GS champion as well if she keeps going that way

    @achilleroy1580@achilleroy15803 жыл бұрын
    • @Slight Breeze give her some time she hasnt played those surfaces a lot and she has for sure the potential to be good on clay and grass. I mean especially on grass she has all the weapons

      @notis6107@notis61073 жыл бұрын
    • @Slight Breeze her game still has time to evolve. For now she is only dominant on hard court, but it used to be that Sharapova was struggling on clay and in the 2010's she became one of the best players on that surface. Same thing could happen with Naomi over time

      @achilleroy1580@achilleroy15803 жыл бұрын
    • @Slight Breeze nah, u say 8 years but she really started playing in many tournaments after 2016 before she was playing very rarely and not on clay or grass. She has been in only 3 wimbledons (2017, 2018,2019) . And before her rise as a top player she made in 2017 and 2018 round 3 losing to the finalist ( 2017-venous) and to the eventual champion ( 2018-kerber). And yes she lost in first round in 2019 to putintseva which was pretty bad but its one match and putintseva was countering her game excelently. I believe that she can improves a lot especially now that she has matured so much mentaly

  • Many people not happy with the quality of tennis but this is the modern player, its all power now, very few of the women players can even volley or hit a slice to get themselves out of trouble in a point. The days of Steffi Graf are long gone, a few like Muchova, Swiatek, Barty etc. are trying to revive to old skills but most of the most of the time they get blasted off the court. Roland Garros is my favorite tournament, it nearly always brings new faces to the top and causes a few shocks in the women's draw.

I like the diversity of players reaching Grand slam finals in the last couple of years. Some say it is because of poor quality but in my opinion it is because there are many good players right now. But to be fair Osaka is the best right now. Oh and i forgot about Barty even though i don't like her style and Muguruza who is capable of winning every slam if she is in form and she brought Osaka on the verge of loss in this tournament.

  • The man who set up the WTA tournaments with the ATP should be given the "Nobel Prize for Management". If they were separated for 2 weeks, women's tennis would be seen as women's football, women's basketball, etc.

    • Why you come here to hate? Honestly, if you don't like it, don't watch it. People on the stands defnitely seemed to like it as did I watching it on the screen. And FYI, there was no men's match on the court today, people bought tickets to see the WOMEN's final..

    • @Trent Nozen Women's tennis has seen better days, that's true. And today's final was definitely not in the most exciting category, however, the OP wasn't giving a fair critique of the game. He just shared some sexist BS, how WTA is the worst and men help WTA out.. That's not the way it is. Grand slams have been shared events for a long-long time and most of the tour events are exclusive to either men or women, with some exceptions. And for the record, in the beginning of 2000s, women's tennis was actually more popular than men's. It's a matter of star-power and perspective. Right now WTA lacks standout stars (other than Serena and perhaps now, Naomi). ATP is at its best with 3 GOATs still playing and some exciting second-tier players. That doesn't mean it couldn't change. WTA has better times coming as well..

    • @Trent Nozen it is not, you have to think about biological differences as well. 77 minutes for a woman are not the same as for a man. They also attract the same amount of people, sponsor coverage and so on. Everyone saying its unfair no one giving me a valid reason though
