I've already driven the entirety of Route 66 in 1999 in my 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 that I built in highschool. My girlfriend, my best friend and I spent 9 weeks that summer driving from New Orleans up to Chicago to start then to California and back on I-10. I would love to do it again with my son when he graduates... In the same car I plan to give him as a graduation present.
Lucky Dog , i envy you, i must do this before i travle the big interstate in the sky .
That's awesome and bet he will like that, do you still have the 500 and is it included in the trip ? LOL l always tell everyone that my first car was a 68 Charger, but technically it was a 69 Galaxy that my parents got me for transportation to trade school, so I didn't have it very long and got the Charger when I finished my training and started working. So it was just a temporary situation and had the 68 a lot longer

I am not sure if 22
We went on the Cabot Trail when I was a kid. My mom was terrified of the roads without guardrails. But the views are absolutely gorgeous.
What about Pacific Coast Highway in California? Awesome scenery and great ocean views.
I like the first bridge with all the levels of intersections. I couldn't drive it but its fascinating!!
The Amalfi Coast is absolutely beautiful area. It’s so much more beautiful than the video shows. Everyone should visit Italy at least once in their life.
Tell that to my bank account, it would disagree with the fact that I should visit.
These were really enjoyable, thanks for posting!!
Concerning number 2 (the Autobahn in Germany) I wanted to mention that this system of roads is never regarded as one single road. They are depicted in a completely wrong manner in this video. It's true that in many cases, there is no speed limit. But that does not mean that people drive like crazy on it. You cannot behave like a racer and of course drivers who drive in a dangerous way will be punished. The vast majority of drivers does not exploit the fact that there is no speed limit in an unreasonable way.
Try the M74 from Scotland. Drivers are just bell ends on there because of its remote location.
@@oddities-whatnot I wanted to go to Scotland last October, but due to COVID I had to cancel my flight...
I like the commentator’s voice much better than many on other channels. Just subscribed!
I luv you videos always great and entertaining info, thank for the work it takes to get then to us!! Glad I subscribed 💯💯💯💯👍
I’ve got to agree that this channel does have great videos. But I don’t understand why they insist on using click bait thumbnails?? You don’t need them so why use them?? It makes people question your integrity.
Obvs
Agreed and they would increase the quality and decrease the need for more staff if they didn't upload every day. Also they use a lot of sensattionalism in their script, in this video most roads don't look dangerous at all as long as you stay at a reasonable speed, only one that looked dangerous to me was the high mountain road.
@@hanse81 yh just the number 3 the rest look so normal. They're more dangerous roads everywhere they obviously didn't do their research well
Norway roads gave stunning views all around. The most dangerous part was keeping eyes on the road, not because of traffic but because it was so beautiful you have to took at everything.
We went down Route 66 last vacation. Parts of it were very lonely just as described. But its also awe inspiring ❤
When you mentioned Autobahn in this list, I feel nostalgic even I never drive there. Just because I know Autobahn from racing video game, Need for Speed ProStreet. You made my day :D
The Chesapeake Highway -Tunnel before the additions was crazy , it felt like you were driving in the middle of the sea, with wave crashing over the road.
I go to Chincoteague every year and that road terrifies me.
I've been there and I was so scared I had to let someone else drive while I huddled on the floor between the seat and the dash board of the car. I never was so frightened in my life. I previously tried to drive but felt like I might drive off the bridge into the water.
Increble Amazing roadways, each Country's thanks your Videos we enjoy watching
I have driven Route 66 from Canada to LA. in 1966: After spending two years in Canada. This was the beginning of my homeward bound journey back to New Zealand.
Thanks for the Informative Video.
Route 66 is the road I want to really travel from end to end. It’s on my bucket list! 😊❤️🙏
Me too!
Been round the arch de triumph a couple of times - the most terrifying road experience i've ever had (except from taking public buses in Malta)
I went there as a teenager with my grandparents, we were in a double decker bus and we were being cut off numerous times,.
Wooooooooow 😁😍..so many crazy and beautiful places on earth..
As a child we would visit my grandmother at conca dei Marini, then as an adult I drove so many times on the Amalfi roads and know the turns well. (Even know when the good spots are to pass someone 😉😋) Love it and the views are amazing. Looking forward to do it gains soon once the covid is gone
The road to Hana on Maui in Hawaii is still the sketchiest road I’ve driven on to this day. Lots of hair pin turns and 1 way bridges. It was beautiful but nuts!
The scariest part to me (1984) was at the end near the 7 sacred pools, the 8 year old kids jumping off the bridges into pools smaller than a volkswagon 100 feet below. My son was there 2 years ago, said it's much improved. The road to the top of Mt. Washington in a conversion van on a windy day was also a white knuckle drive.
Wow, the beginning had such car commercial vibes, I actually looked for the skip ad button and freaked out when it wasn't there.
2:50 Well, I just found my next skateboard destination....
An advertisement every 2 minutes? There's nothing that needs to be seen that bad!
I hate driving but I love these roads and highways videos.
I had the pleasure of being stationed in Bamberg, Germany for 3 years and let me just say that driving on the Autobahn is an experience of a lifetime!!!
Roderick Turner true. I felt much more safe in a journey there in 6 -5. Traffic routes with no- limits speed than in so many cities in slow travel speed..they KNOW. How To drive. No doubt about that.
There in the late 50's - way less traffic but was amazed at the speed limit after being from a small NC rural town.
When I saw Lombart Street I immediately thought of GTA San Andreas.. They have a replica of that street on the game.. And it is incredibly difficult to drive it in-game 🤣
It’s in the watchdogs 2 game too
And it's not even the most crooked in SF, Vermont St is!
I know this is about roads, not rounadbouts, but you forgot to mention the most horrific roundabout in France, just at the edge of Champs-Élysées: the Arc de Triomphe/place de l'Étoile 12-lane roundabout. Ask anyone who's been there, it's a nightmare.
Wow. I get nervous just watching that horror show. How come people in boats can drive without roads like a symphony on the water but those people can't drive on that part properly?!
Solene Benard , yes it is!!!
THE AUTOBAHN!!!! i live in germany and i use the Autobahn 23 everyday, where itzehoe lies at the side which has Wilstermarsch, which is the deepest point of germany and i love that you told the viewers about the german Autobahn!
I got to drive on Lombard Street back in 1985. Wow.
An incredible road I've ben on is the Chesapeake Bay Bridge - Tunnel. Or what about the Eisenhower Tunnel in Colorado. Or US 590 in Western Colorado. I've been on that road as a truck driver and it can be something else. I drove it from Farmington, NM on my way to Salt Lake City, UT. Very scenic. But, there are places where you better not make a mistake because there is no guard rail.
Yes , very true. Drove a semi tractor trailer when i was much younger, seen a lot of mistakes that were final, God bless the Truck drivers who deliver are groceries and merchandise.
My husband's family lives in VA Beach and we have taken our kids through the tunnels in Chesapeake. They're pretty cool as long as you arent claustrophobic.
I’ve actually cycled the Amalfi Coast in both directions in a day. It’s absolutely not dangerous and all the drivers were very courteous and respectful of my space
I've driven there a good few times and I can say the same thing, it's not dangerous at all
Been on 3 of them on this list. Moving to Europe next year, been excited to drive in autobahn!!
Very surprised to see Germanys Autobahn listed at 13:16 I've driven them for many years and consider them extremely safe. It''s only certain parts which have no speed limit, the majority of it is restricted to 130 kph (81 mph). Road surfaces are excellent and rest halts or service areas, plentiful.
he is still right over 60 % of the German Autobahn is speedlimit free, 130 kph is only a recommended speed. Greetings from Germany
I am really upset. Where are the whales? While I can appreciate & might enjoy the channel’s nice views of interesting roads & information- you are deceptive in your advertising! The most dangerous roads? Some of them were not even dangerous but also you used a picture with 2 whales along a road making it look like people would be in danger or as I thought maybe a road ran through a whale breeding habitat. No whales. It is really misleading to use a headline like that & should be against the rules. FALSE ADVERTISING. LIARS. CLICKBAIT.
The title of this video is "....Most Dangerous and Incredible Roads". Not all the selections were intended to be dangerous--some, like the Autobahn, are simply remarkable. 🙂
Yes, you can find records of approximately 432 km/h (~268 mph) by both Mercedes and Auto Union on the German Autobahn in 1938. Get real... the technology to set those records simply did not exist then. Any witnesses other than Third Reich propaganda ministry and their obedient syncophant auto company executives? I seriously doubt it. As others have noted, the Autobahn is not a single road,, but a network like the US Interstate system. Perhaps 60% of its routes have unlimited speed sections, but of its total distance, far less less than 60% (maybe 10-20%) remains speed unlimited. And the posted speed are not "recommended"! They are limits strictly enforced, mostly by surveilance cameras, and the registered owner of the vehicle will be fined courtesy of Duetch Post.
#3 looked the scariest lol
And to think tourist still want to go there 🤦🏾♀️ there's really something about danger and thrill
@@chidinmaugoji5195 right smh loll
My family flew to Italy for my daughters wedding and we stayed in Maori. We had a driver and drove along the Amalfi coast. I sat on the edge of my seat for a few twists and turns but relaxed as our driver was well used to them. I still cant believe how narrow they are, but its well worth a visit
We have quite a few roads like that on Jamaica in the mountains. Not a big deal for us at all lmao
Crazy narrow!
Thx for sharing.
There are alot of roads here I would NEVER want to travel on! Yikes!
So true about the Amalfi coast drive‼️‼️
Thank you for sharing
Just discovered this channel and recognized the voice from Simple History. Glad I found this
Good ear! 😉
Grew up in a town on old 66! Thats awesome that it made ur list!
I’ve walked and drove down Lombard Street in SF, packed with cars & tourists but pretty cool
There’s a video in your ads
*RIGHT....!!!!!!!* 👍🏼😁👊🏼
I-70 from I-15 to I-25. It goes through the Rockies (and the Eisenhower tunnel and other tunnels through the mountains), through the narrow valleys along the Colorado River (sometimes a double decker interstate) around Glenwood Springs, and finally through the San Rafael Swell, still one of the most unexplored and environmentally hostile parts of the US.
OMG these roads are so dangerous, I'm not coming out of my room :)
I have been driving the roundabout around the Champs de elysses a couple of time, and first time it`s really stressing around the rush hours, but finally I learned to drive there :) I love the Autobahn - it`s German so ofcourse everything is well laid out and works, unless you get into their road construction, which is pretty annoying, because if it is in the summer period you can end up waiting like 1 hour before driving again :( The worst road I have been on was with my friends on vacation in Turkey, and we had rented a Willy`s jeep and went up to the mountains in south part area around the city of Alanya on some dirt roads, but sitting next to the driver with just under 1 meter before you would fly out into the air and then down the mountainside was not that funny, but it is still one of my good memories from that vacation :) Very good and entertaining video. Thx for making this video, so that we can enjoy it. Best wishes to you all!
When I stayed in the City I used to ride my skateboard down Lombard St. Talk about a rough ride!
I did it in a car
I hired a car for my trip down the Amalfi coast ( accepted a ride with a local as I left Herculaneum). I thought we were going to Sorrento. In Sorrento he asked if I wanted to see the beach. I thought he was talking about the bay of Naples below Sorrento and said yes. I was heading down the coast road before I knew where we were going. It was an unforgettable experience. The scenery is beyond spectacular. Unfortunately my driver’s old hatchback was too low for me to see over the retaining walls most of the time. It was also hard to appreciate the beauty of the place because my driver must have been a cab driver in Naples or a stunt driver in a previous life. Passing on bind corners and blocking traffic by making u turns or stopping to ask directions from a cop who was writing a ticket seemed natural to him. It was quite an adventure but if I do it again an open topped bus would be my preference.
Interesting topics. Good photography.
The more Info I aee about Norway, the more I am in total awe of this country. If you reside there, you are truly blessed.🌷🌷🌷
The Cabot Trail and park is gorgeous! They take special care of the trees etc beside the road! The road takes you beside the rocky ocean!

Awesome thanks. I wanna do the Pan American highway being that I'm already on the West Coast.
Good info..thanks...
Went down Lombard while in San Francisco!
Can you believe that people actually live on that block? They'd never get peace and quiet. And there's no parking on that block, but that's not as much of an issue for residents, as San Francisco is unique to the US West Coast in that owning a car is a strong inconvenience in that city so may residents don't own cars. But if you're looking for a quiet idyllic place in The City, this block of Lombard Street is one to avoid.
when you grew up in germany thinking the autobahn is completely normal and it’s like that everywhere.
Watching this clip about these roads, mercy I couldn’t believe how dangerous these roads could be, I wouldn’t drive on any of them, rather would stay home 😮
Great job Top Five nice voice
Route 66 is my favorite of these roads, I did the whole Route a few years ago. None of it that I was on was really in bad shape, (except for the "sidewalk highway", but that's a special case. As to being over a hundred miles between services, not true, In the west Route 66 was replaced by I-40 (and in fact long stretches of I-40 were built on top of 66), You are never that far from 40 and services.
I want to actually experience this drive
Wow what a wonderful scene
My husband and I nearly ran out of gas on route 66 coming back from Utah on our honeymoon. What an adventure!
I wonder if #10 (Amalfi Coast Highway) is the place that inspired the aesthetics for Kiki's Delivery Service. The town and road both remind me of the movie.
Would it have hurt to put distances in US standard measurements too? I can assure you, the posted speed limit on the road in San Francisco isn't 8 KMH, it's 5 MPH.
UK uses miles too
There is a fully comprehensive guild book for Route 66 now that takes some of the fear of driving it away. EZ66 ?edition. I've used the fourth and it worked well enough for the parts I was traveling. It's not as exciting as U.S.19 on the east coast with all of it's road side attractions but what the heck.
Really amazing video 👌👌
I grew up on route 66! Winslow, AZ!
Route 66 , the Mother Road .
Radiator Springs haha 😁
Route 66 is the one Highway I want to drive. I was out there in 1990 and discouraged from driving it since there were sparse gas stations. I wish I had driven it. I'll go one of these days
Nice video 👍👍👍😍😍😍😍
I'm surprised the Blue Ridge Parkway didn't make this list
Going down the only road iv'e ever known.
there I go again on my own.........
Like a drifter, I was born to walk alone!
@@bc_dave we got the reference!
Ended the video having been on 3 of the roads: Lombard in SF, The Champs-Elysee in Paris, and Route 66 out west in California! Twelve (12) to go!
like a christian i was born without a throne...am i doing this right?
A very cool road you missed is the one in Gibraltar, it goes directly through a runway
Agreed, its cool to wait at the barriers to see the planes land in front of you then drive across it. also i enjoyed the locals on mopeds treating the rising barriers like a drag strip, but with 15-20 people flooring it at the same time
One time I made a road. I made it out of cheese. A few shells. A little beef and lettuce. It was actually a taco
So dangerous I wouldn’t go on that road what if a plane lands when you drive across it here’s what would happen to you: x_x
You should've included Tajikistan, and its "tunnel of death" its a scary place road, one that makes you pray to stay safe lol
I like driving drunk cause I welcome challenges.
I love this channel
Ah Damn!!! This Crazy Roads are Awesome dispite the facts but it is!!!😲😲😲
I'm disappointed, i didn't see Transfaragasan road from Romania , it's and amazing road
We have driven on 66 a few times while traveling from Rhode Island to California. Interesting!
Rt. 66. Been over 50 yrs. since we went through there. Magical time for the family
I have a suggestion for next video Top 15 Hail vs Car
The problem with the Route 66 part of this video is that a lot of the road doesn't exist anymore. Literally it's gone.
The "Going to the Sun Road", Glacier National Park, Montana, is the equal of many of these and superior to others.
you totally forgot about Australia's Great Ocean Road! in Victoria!!!
And some of the crazy dangerous roads TopGear visited.
Unbelievable! But real. I did it on motorcycle on the mountain serpentine roads
The old Belair road in Adelaide is scary. One side cliff other side massive drop with heaps of blind corners. Car sick city
I loved driving the twisted street in San Francisco I would do it again!
I've taken four of these, Las Vegas Blvd. Cabot, Lombard and Route 66, albeit I was ten when we rode Cabot. Lombard Street made me carsick. Las Vegas Blvd was annoy. Route 66 was awesome, I wish we'd gone further.
Drove the Cabot trail in cape Breton hundreds of times, most beautiful place on earth in summer.
Yeesss, finally Italy
Nice
The views with a significant amount of traffic obviously date from 2019 or earlier, since in 2020 most urban areas experienced far fewer vehicles for months. This would be particularly true of Las Vegas Boulevard.
8.25 :) MY HOME COUNTRY :) this city is Ålesund :) been there many times, and goin there this friday on concert :)
So Nice
Lombard St in SF has been closed to auto traffic for several years now. Only pedestrians can use it now. The residents filed a lawsuit years ago to ban cars.
I wish these lists would include U.S. measurements, too. Using only kilometers tells me nothing.
It makes you cringe to hear the length of "iconic American highway Route 66" given in kilometers.
Awesome!!
Nice 👍🤗
I took a road trip from Tucson to the Grand Canyon (my plans included Meteor Crater and family in Silver City, NM) in 2018 that had me on 2 parts of Route 66. I stayed in Williams and Winslow. The famous corner is on Route 66. 😅 (If you're an Eagles fan, you know the corner.)
I am surprised to realize that I have been on 5 of those roads!
Driver:Oh Look a Giant Man Eating Fish!
Great video. Have got to mention the Lindisfarne causeway in Northumberland, England. The Island of Lindisfarne or Holy Island as it's known for being the birthplace of Christianity in England, is cut off by tides twice a day. When the tide is out there is a causeway , a tarmac road of about 5 miles, 8km from the mainland. But each year a number of motorists ignore the safe crossing times & get stranded & need rescuing by lifeboat- here are videos here on KZhead of examples. You can walk across the dunes at low tide at but it's highly dangerous unless you stick to the marked path and/or have a guide. It is a great road to a proper living breathing community- famous also for making mead- but time and tide wait for no man...
