The 8 of hearts trick seemed the most off, but I think it was more the delivery of his words as that's a pretty common tactic of 'you pick, a or b!' and no matter what ya roll with, they are gonna do what they want in the first place. It was winter so not many people out and he did a levitation where he floated 3 feet off the ground and freaked out the entire crowd who ran away screaming. He was just like you see him on screen, calm and soft spoken. We had lunch with him and hung out about hour. Real nice guy. I'm not at all shocked how big and famous he became.

  • David Blaine can touch everyone without touching anyone at the same time. Best illusionist in the world, he's 100,000 steps ahead of the game at all times. I've been practicing illusion magic for over 25 years. Let me tell you, honestly , he is flawless. (I don't want to think I know how he did it) The women in the green dress wasn't a plant, if that's what you're thinking. David interacted with her moments prior to this interview and planted the stamp on her left hand, then drawing the cards perfectly. Even if he didn't manage to shake her hand, then the trick changes, then changes, then changes again until the trick is perfect for LIVE air on TV. He is a freak of illusion, he's perfect. Sorry for rambling off! I'm just stunned and trying to figure it out. He makes me feel like a complete amateur, every time.

Shaking her hand prior to this interview would be too obvious, and she'd later tell everyone else, AND he asked the woman next to her to point to one of her hands, AND the black woman randomly selected a card from the deck, AND he WENT OUT OF HIS WAY to allow the black woman to change her selection, AND he asked the Asian woman to pick one for him, the 8 or the heart, in effect picking hers, AND she said that she felt a tingle in her hand. Explain all that if you're even going to attempt an explanation. PLUS, the rest of the magic are also unexplainable. Here's a hint: as you said, you do ILLUSION magic. If you seriously go attempt to find out whether REAL magic exists, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

  • What people don't realize about DB is he's the king of "multiple outs" which means he's improvising the trick as it develops. For example, picking a number between 1 and 10, seven is the most common guess. It took a few tries to get someone to say seven, but then he "forced" the others to pick the one who said "seven" - even better she was holding the cards. Great work!

    @billnoll@billnoll6 ай бұрын
    • I've seen him with people who pick an unusual number and he just alters the trick. So you are correct, he has multiple outs. But for an audience like this, they all fed right into every suggestion he had for what they picked without them even realizing it. Also, people act more instinctively on camera. Etc, etc. All these variables combined help someone like David be able to achieve his ultimate goal. Obviously, in a perfectly sterile environment with no media involved, and no cameras watching, he would probably run out of "outs" eventually. However, in this kind of environment, it actually works towards his favor. I know this because I used to have magicians practice on me when I was going to college for drama, and while off camera, and "behind the scenes" its actually much harder for suggestions and other slight of hand tricks to work. On the contrary though, when a participant is on camera, the "tables turn.". so to speak. And Blaine certainly takes full advantage of this fact. As he should. And there are even more weaknesses involved for large media, especially with big media involved. Magicians get access to circumstances that might seem minor (before the trick happens) but actually have a massive effects on their potential ways to make it happen.

  • This is beyond simple tricks, this is real magic. His inclusion of acting and patter are time honored skills that all great magicians of old used to drop the punchline on the magic. David Blaine is a pure genius magician! His thought and development process on how he creates the magic is pure brilliance. Read all the magic books out, you will not figure it out! 🎉🍾🎊🤩 I’ll be going to Vegas to see him!

      @voltaquake@voltaquake Жыл бұрын
    • @@MrHighvolt That's a good point. My guess about the symbol is that he just figured the ladies were more likely to choose the heart symbol rather than the 8 and use the fact that he said "for me" as a reason why she gets the 8. But had she chosen the 8 he would just use the fact that she picked 8 to say something like "now watch what I'm gonna do with the 8" and the fact that he said "for me" would be forgotten and be obscured.
