  • Problem with 'best in South Africa' reviews is that city to city, things are so different, so many places restricted to specific regions/provinces/cities. Only the Debonairs and Pizzahut are nationwide franchises and with both, your experiences are very hit/miss which branch, time of day, who on duty, side of bed woke up. Smack Pizza is an old mate actua, glad to hear the good review for them, but gatvol how long he making his friends in Durban wait for a store now😂

  • I think in the last couple of years Debonairs dropped the ball on their pizza , especially when that tangy mayonnaise suffocates every every topping

  • Hey guys I believe you in Fourways, most of those are American brands. Please try these local brands in Fourways: Papa Pronto Panarotis Papachino Picalinos Col' Cacchio There are many other places that serve gourmet pizza around. Here as well.

  • Before the premiere. There are four places in Cape Town with amazing pizzas. 1. Ferdinando’s (Observatory) 2. Massimo’s (Hout Bay) 3. Pizza Shed (Observatory) 4. Borruso’s (Kenilworth)

  • Its best to stay away from the franchised Pizza places like Debonairs and Pizza Hut or Romans. They tend to be very mediocre. Your best bet is to find pizza joints that are single entities and not franchised because that is where you are going to find your best pizzas.

  • When in the Westrand, please have the oxtail pizza from iL Mio in Featherbrooke, close to Silverstar Casino (btw where there is even other pizza places etc.)

    • I have Panaroittis at a Mall close to me and a Papachinos just down the road from there but where are all the Mimmos at? They were my fave and used to be everywhere in the late 90's and 2000's. I don't see them anymore.

  • I have never heard of Smack Pizza or Hello Tomato. Guess I don't get out enough. I usually get my pizzas from Either the Spar down the road or Pizza Perfect a little bit further down the road.

  • these are my fav pizza places! (all in CPT) 1. Buttlers (Wynberg, rondebosch, new lands and other places 2. Eat out the box (plumstead) (my friends parents actually own this place!) 3. Pizza Hut (there are many but I go to the one in constantia) 4. Basilico (tokai) 5. Col’cahio (there are a few, one is in Meadowridge and the other is next to a restaurant called the eatery which is also owned by eat out the box)

  • Woodstock has very nice wood fire piazzas, but again South Africa has a lot of Pizza places with different flavors ect, its always difficult to choose the best, Lol

  • We have nice pizzas in SA, but I don't eat Debonairs or any electric oven-made pizza. In my area in Alberton, we have a place that makes super nice pizzas with a wood-fired oven. I guess I'm spoiled. 😅😅

  • Debonaires make the worst pizza in South Africa. There are a few authentic Italian pizzarias in South Africa that can't be beaten, but of all the franchise pizza houses I recommend Col'Caccio and St Elmo's.

  • I stopped eating deboniars years ago when they added that generic mayo to their pizzas. Their crust also feels like cardboard. The italians would have heart attack at what we call pizza. Best to go to an Italian spot!

  • These are not the best pizzas in the country. The best pizza joints tend to be regional franchises only found in certain areas and not nationawide and tend to specialise on wood. Pannarrotis would have been the best in that lot had you added it.

  • Debonairs has seriously declined in quality since they became a popular franchise. They started with real ingredients and big pizzas but now it's basically Vienna pizzas🤣
