The Sopranos is a show which lends itself to fan theories. Sopranos fans love to discuss the ending of the show, as well as open ended storylines like what happeend to the Russian and whether Butch, Patsy & Paulie set up Tony to be whacked.
In this video, I count down what I think are the top 10 best theories about The Sopranos. These theories do not included theories on the ending oft he show, which I've tackled in another video.

  • One of my favourites is that the entire last episode is imagined by Tony because he was killed in his sleep at the safe house. It seemed like he had the ideal version of his family, Meadow had a good boyfriend and she was on her way to becoming a lawyer, AJ was in a much better mental state, Carmela seemed very much in love with him. Although his crime family was decimated his real family was doing well.

  • To add to the Silvio dream theory, not only is there a few Sopranos themed episodes with Silvio meeting up with Paulie (in this show he's his brother and a priest) but his Sopranos and Van Zandt's real wife plays his ex girlfriend. Not only that but essentially confirming the theory in the final season inside a hospital an old man even says "it's all a dream Silvio." Van Zandt seemed to love the theory, in his book he says there was a cut idea where in the Lilly Hammer wilderness in a dream sequence Van Zandt's character would find Tony, Carm and the kids in a house in the woods. Plus when Chase was casting Van Zandt, Zandt suggested a character called Frankie the fixer who was re-jigged into Silvio, in Lilly Hammer FrankieThe Fixer changes his name and goes into the program. So along with the same actor they both essentially come from the same source.

Rewatched the entire thing with that perspective from the beginning and I'm convinced. Only negative is that it was 'never picked back up' after some licensing deal with the Norwegian tv network or something. So basically no proper conclusion is given but I told myself Silvio's wife pulled the plug for a better ending, almost Sopranos-esq with that perspective as well. Something about the way he shut the door when she came in his room, and as you said, Caitlin's attitude after and being more chipper after her night with Gnome, and then the way Gnome literally got a restraining order against her and wanting absolutely nothing to do with Caitlin after that night seems like something that an immature, super rich and super spoiled guy would do in such a situation. Lord knows I and most guys i know, as well as most gals i know, have had relations with gals/guys they heavily regret the next day and do everything in their power to avoid them from then forward. Only difference is neither me nor any of my friends are rich enough, nor are we shallow enough, to go so far as to actually file a lawsuit in order to keep that person away. And lastly, as you stated, Gnome breaks it off with Meadow shortly after he and Caitlin's secret rendezvous. So with all this in mind, id say it's absolutely certain that Gnome and Caitlin did the hibidity dibity and Gnome was so ashamed he had to do everything we saw him do in order to run away from what he'd done.

Notice he’s wearing a hat of the movie clever that they filmed within the show, and the movie was about a guy who was in the mob that snitched on the mob boss and was killed. So that might have been a little bit of a hint that Chris flipped on Tony

    @vincentfrusci7745@vincentfrusci77458 ай бұрын
  • I agree about Phil, though there are hints it's nowhere near as clear as Richie. Also for Richie bear in mind that he repeatedly says how men give him a hard-on: first when joking that Junior not wearing a shirt at the doctor's office will give him a chubby, and then when threatening Chris and getting in his face saying something like "I've had a hard-on for you since we met" (in the sense that he dislikes Chris). In both cases of making a joke and a threat, he phrases it in terms of a man giving him an erection. Then also consider how he died: the last thing Janice said to him which immediately triggered him punching her was when she said something like "even if your son is gay so what, there's nothing wrong with it" and he strikes her.

    • @@anthonyludwig2891 I haven't seen much of the show lately, so hopefully I'm not mixing up characters/storylines. But in one episode, when Tony was hearing about Ralphie's sexual preferences from his girlfriend and Janice, it was said Ralphie probably couldn't get aroused by regular sex. He had some unusual fetishes (think cheese grater). And would potentially finish himself off. During one scene, with Richie and Janice, he was seen holding a pistol to her head during sex. That's not a normal kink. That, potentially like Ralphie, is quite an extreme fetish. Unlike Ralphie (who seemed to like being dominated, humiliated and abused), it seemed Richie potentially got off on power and instilling fear, and seemingly being the extremely dominant person during sex. But like Ralphie, it may also be the case that regular sex didn't arouse Richie. And just think about that scene with the stripper - it had been organized for him by someone else. And the stripper had him sat in a chair, whilst she controlled the situation, for the most part. In essence, he didn't dominate or contol any aspect of the situation - it was thrust upon him, and he felt he had to sit there and endure it. But it was potentially quite telling that at the end he insisted on paying - this small act at least let him take some control and dominance over the situation, including the stripper, as well as Silvio (who has told her not to receive money).

  • Excellent video. Definitely going to check out your other Sopranos Theories videos. As someone who has only recently ever watched the show, a few of these are things I actually felt were probably true at the time during my first ever watching and without ever reading about the show and the various theories around it. They are: - Noah & Caitlin - Little Carmine the Genius - Did the cop really whack Christopher's dad? In fact with the last one, I was surprised to hear it as a theory. I definitely thought the entire point of the episode was to draw doubt as to whether this cop really killed Chris' dad and to make you question Tony's motive with putting Chris up to this. I also felt at the time that if he was just some guy (and not Chris' dad's killer), Tony was using it as a way to give Chris some sort of closure. I felt like it was obvious, but I guess that was meant to be something obscure or unclear as opposed to a definite thing in the show with an answer.

  • Bobby, Johnny Sacks, Furio, and Charmain, are my favorite characters in the series. With the first three characters, I can see (multiple) turning points in their storylines that could have helped them realize their better selves IF they had listened to their inner angels. Ultimately they succumbed to peer pressure [environment] and reverted to what was 'safe' and familiar. -Bobby was a good man regardless of his father's chosen profession. But due to insecurities, he dismissed his 'true' self and delved almost entirely into ' the life.' His murder was 'karma '; he willingly crossed the path. But the scene of his death was no less traumatic and sorrowful. He should have been the character in therapy, not Tony. -Johnny could have been a self-made made, legitimate man without the mafia backing him up. Maybe the owner of an honest construction company or even a union organizer. Just imagine being some Wall Street Yuppie sitting across the table, bargaining with Johnny "The Hitman" Sacks regarding a union contract. Or Johnny "Give me a reason..." Sacks refusing to cooperate no-show jobs with the mob! -Furio was a product of his environment, but that environment didn't suppress his recognition of 'love.' More importantly, 'true' love. He recognized it when he saw it, almost immediately. A woman with grace, charm, affection, and spirit. The key word here is 'woman.' Not a prostitute or gun-moll, but a true lady. His willingness not to pursue this romance could be considered self-preservation, but it was something more. It was the first time in his life that he could see the repercussions of his actions if he followed his heart. A love-struck 'bad' man who has always dismissed such feelings, only to finally succumb to such feelings. -Charmaine-the only character in this series who always knew her place in the 'world'-that of a righteous person. She recognized corruption, resisted temptation, and called out those who were the employees of evil. She loved Artie because he was naive, but she scolded him when he was dancing with the devil. Above all the characters in the series, she was the only one who never gave in to vice. Then there's Carlo...

From the other worker's eyes, a big $$$ table dined & dashed, then killed him when he chased them. (They couldn't know paulie took it after, unless there were camera, but then they'd really be F'ed) From the FBI's perspective the waiter was killed right after a dinner party stiffed him. The party consisting of the top 2 in NJ, a NY 5-Family underboss, 3-4 other made guys & and at least 1 of them was an informant. The FBI would've known about the dinner at the time, then the waiter is killed and nothing? If Chris was an informant, the show would have given us a little more than that, IMO.
