He's slightly Jewish, slightly green, slightly black....he's Gumby DAMNIT!
LMFAO... I’m GUMBY DAMNITT

Mostly jewish tho. I wonder why no hymietown but down black folks and its comedy gold.

“Don’t you try to make me out to be a racist, Che, you black bastard” is the best single line of an update segment maybe ever? Eddie is the King. Long live the King.
😂👍Funny you should say "king," since Gumby seems to think he's *Larry King.*
Oof that’s brilliant long live the king

Eddie was pure gold here. I lost my shit with this sketch, such an honor to the original stuff as well. Best SNL episode in two decades.
Yep, he kept calling him that......LOL
It’s the ‘I’m staying here’ off camera that gets me all the time 😂😂
Don't tap me bastard, I'm staying!

Alright, alright I'll go
That was the best part
"If I wanna smoke a cigar, I smoke a cigar." "I SMOKE A CIGAR!"

This comment deserves more likes its like one of the best parts other then eddie laughing
That third one with the fist pound is the best!!
@@scremped I agree 😂😂
Eddie ain't lying, he saved SNL from the brink. Piscopo helped, but without Eddie we may never have known Farley, Sandler, Hartman, Farrell, McKinnon, etc. The first cast lit the fire, but Eddie kept it burning.
After Lorne Michael's departure, his replacement, Jean Doumanian, nearly killed the show when ratings plummeted. She was replaced with Dick Ebersol after ten months. Murphy was there during those years.
I agree, he is a legend.
Matthew Horizon i hear that lorne michaels was always jealous of Eddie because Lorne thought the show would be over without him but Eddie carried that shit and as soon as Eddie left that’s when Lorne returned lol
this was such a beautiful comment
@@cavebeastdemon3631 After seeing all the sketches in this episode, Murphy clearly dominated every one (except the cold open) and the rest of the cast was reduced to featured player status.
I never realized that calling someone “headshot” could be so disrespectful…genius
Amari Selah what does it mean
@@rch3290 I think, he might be referring to the portraits that actors take to put in their portfolio. It kinda sounds like he's saying "headshot" the way another would say "pretty boy", both sarcastic jabs at someone being only useful for their looks 🙌

“So I messed up. Shut up!” kzhead.info/sun/ktyrZ8eof5qAoo0/bejne.html
My favorite part is that they nearly all stopped laughing right when he did it. When the greats give cues, you follow.
I came here to say the same.....my favorite part of the whole sketch 🤣
I knew a kid named Gumby in elementary school. He wasnt named after the show or product, his name was just Gumby. So naturally everyone made fun of him. In the summer of 1987 he entered the little convenience store on Avalon and 98 and decided to blast his way through 17 people in a fit of rage. When he was found hours later he was holding 2 cups of play doh and a Big gulp from 7-11. After the local cops in Florida surrounded him, they slowly came upon him and arrested him with no resistance. When he was taken in they asked him "Why in the world did u kill all those people?" He simply replied " The act of killing isn't malleable it's solid, its unchanging whether you choose to do the act or not, there is no choice of molding the outcome" But don't let this man distract you from the fact that in 1998, The Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell, and plummeted 16 feet through an announcer's table.
"I'm Gumby damn-it." This was his funniest throwback character of the night.

When he called him “Headshot” I almost had water come out my nose.
I called a newbie Headshot at work the next day! He's new in the kitchen where I work!

Trevor, you looking like the bastard child of an affair between John Turturro and Sandler in Uncut Gems made me bowl over in laughter
Imma make it a point to call someone "headshot" once a week in 2020.
@Sonya Browne because you're a racist. Sorry to ruin your hot fantasy, but a head shot is an old term for a brainless, pretty boy that just gets by on looks but has no real talent. That's, that's all.
Eddie Murphy so funny, he can’t help laughing at his own jokes

That shit was hilarious.
Murphy doing this specific character during Weekend Update was SO CLUTCH; it really cut the PC tension of today in a way that works w/o fallout for anyone involved. The voice is like Larry David's x 10, and who knew Murphy did such a good impression of a racist old Jewish dude in a Gumby costume circa 1982? I didn't until now.
c ryan @ it’s going to take the old comics from the 90s and the 80s to come back like Dave Chapelle Eddie Murphy probably Chris Roc come back next and destroy PC culture❗️‼️because the other skit that he did with the elves he calls the girl sexy white chick they can’t mess with the old comics because this is who they were they are not coming out with new stuff they’ve always been that way the whole entire culture excepted them 20 years ago 30 years ago there’s no way you can come at them now and say that they can’t say what they wanna say
@@migtowlifemonk8668 Agreed, I was thinking the same things about how he's so established and paid his dues and earned the right to keep being himself (and the characters) in ways that wouldn't fly today under different circumstances. Chappelle and Rock are definitely helping this process, too. Some comedians are really good at being PC and hilarious at the same time (the special Michael Che Matters from 2016 was PERFECT at calling out certain types of white ppl). Marlon Wayans Woke-ish was another good one...I'm not huge on Kevin Hart, but it was painful to watch him do the "apology tour" as Bill Burr calls it, after his whole Tweets saga. Can you even friggin IMAGINE if Patrice O'Neill were alive today? Good Lord, he said stuff way beyond what I'm ok with, sexism-wise but he was hilarious and it'd suck to see what the PC public would do to him today; things he SAID about women were one thing, but since he had a patchy rape charge ages ago, that'd resurface and blah blah.
For the record don’t have to be black to enjoy that joke
You youngsters don't understand how funny this really is. Gumby was the sweetest character ever. It would be like, if they too Sponge Bob and turned him into an angry Jewish Guy.

SNL TAKE NOTES. This is how you improvise at times during a skit.
Z Cunningham exactly!!!! He's a genius❤
The bigger the star you are, the more you can get away with that. Not everyone has that freedom you’re talking about.
@@alexanderwright1618 no actually that has nothing to do with it. It's called improvising and either you are good at it or not
Unless you’ve been up there or on a stage with restrictions from higher-ups, you’ve no idea. This ain’t the same as any other sketch show.
@@alexanderwright1618 if you are fully restricted from the higher ups is one thing. But throughout the history of this show I have seen numerous cast members improvise while still doing the skit that was written.
