Negative incidents involving them often receive disproportionate attention, leading to the misconception that they are inherently aggressive. However, their temperament largely depends on their upbringing, socialization, and treatment by their owners. Like any other breed, they can be loving and gentle with proper care and training. Efforts are ongoing to combat this stigma through education and advocacy for responsible ownership.

  • My huskies used to tease each other like this all the time. Put a bone, treat or toy in a space and then lay close enough to control the space and wait for their sister to come and try to take it. Meanwhile the sister NOT setting the trap would try to sneak closer and closer to get the prize without the first one catching her. So funny to watch, such intense confrontation and drama with almost no motion or noise; just nibbles, nuzzles and grumbling. I used to love walking over, taking the prize and seeing the looks of betrayal and disdain as I left them both without. Huskies have the best 'WTF?! faces!'

    • Fun fact. Canine frontal lobe is too small to be able to handle the type of abstract conception as guilt, therefore canines don't feel or understand it. It's purely a humanizing feature in humans to see guilt in canines.

Dogs however are able to notice those feelings from their owners, they are expert interpreters of micro expressions we do involuntarily with our faces. Domesticated dogs have figured out ways to appeal to humans due that skill.

      @sanakassara@sanakassara Жыл бұрын
    • @@sanakassara They may not experience "guilt" per se but they can definitely experience anxiety and a fear of punishment. If they have behaved in a way contrary to their owners expectation they will often know this and react to evidence of their misdeeds. That's close enough to our concept of "guilt" as to be a perfectly acceptable way of characterizing it.

      @codyvandal2860@codyvandal2860 Жыл бұрын
    • @@codyvandal2860 They feel fear and it's a far cry from guilt. What humans interpret as an expression of guilt, ears pulled back and eyes staring in ground, is the expression which canines do when they are affraid. They are affraid that they will get hurt, which is a part of canine hierarchy. It's our frontal lobe which mistankenly interprets the expression. Humans just humanize the canine reaction.

Sometimes their play looks aggressive to us but to them it isn't. Check out the documentary LIVING WITH WOLVES. They did a great job watching Wolves be Wolves which helps us understand their behaviors more. They are and important part of the ecosystem and shooting them from helicopters because you can isn't reason enough to do it. Farmers complain that Wolves get a cow here and there even though they get paid for all lost cows. So, why kill them? You kill them all and then the deer and elk will eat all the grass the Farmers need for their cows. Sorry passionate about this subject.

  • out of context and with different music i would fear for poor Harvey. Knowing Kane(as much as a random youtube video fiend can know a wolf dog i've only watched) i am not worried at all.

  • Just got recommended this out of the blue, and knowing nothing about your gorgeous puppers what I saw was Kane saying “Packmate - I am dominant and I request your food”. Not sure if that’s 100% correct, but it made me feel good with the explanation on the end 😉

    • Kane (wolf dog) is absolutely not dominant. Harvey(husky) was already full grown while Kane was still a milk drinking puppy. He has always respected Harvey as his senior and channel owner contextualises this scene as a reoccuring event where Harvey attempts to nick Kane's treats which is exactly what you believe "dominant kane" is trying to do. Honestly, considering what Kane is, how gentle he's being at fending off Harvey's attempts at the bone is indicative of a great respect.

    • @@EggyEggtoastHiyya! I absolutely agree with ya! Kane is a 100% goodboi and deserves all of the props for being gentle with Harvey for this. His people are obviously amazing with their puppers and I’m curious about intra pack dynamics after seeing this. The country I live in doesn’t have any wolves or pack-dogs (other than feral packs of dogs), just dingoes which weren’t covered in my courses. It’s super interesting!

  • This is interesting because even though Kane is asserting dominance over the bone, he's nibbling Harvey's face, which in wolf communication means affection. Maybe he's telling Harvey he isn't mad, just to keep away from his stuff
