How to scan a document in Android

If you own an Android phone and need to scan and send a document to someone, here is a quick and simple tutorial.
Using Google Drive you can scan multiple pages and create 1 PDF file which can be sent via email, text message or even Bluetooth to another device.
Instructions:
-Open Google Drive
-Hit the + icon at the bottom right
-Tap Scan
-Line up your document in the view finder and press the camera shutter
-If you're happy with the result, hit OK - otherwise hit cancel to try again
-On the following screen, you will see how the document will look in the PDF file, below the image are a back option, a color change option (adjustment to best suit the document being scanned), a rotate option (if document was scanned upside down) & a crop icon which will allow you to get the exact dimension of the document being scanned. If you scan another page, a - icon will show up allowing you to remove that page if you wish.
-If you need to add another page, hit the + icon in the bottom left below the adjustment options and follow the same instructions.
-Once you have all pages added and are ready to save, hit the Save button
-Name the document, choose the email address and the Google Drive folder you wish to save to.
-Once it is finished uploading, go to your recent items to find the finished PDF.
-To share via email, open the document, select the 3 dots in the top right corner and tap "send a copy", choose "Gmail" (or your email client) and it will be attached in the Compose window.
-To share via Text message, open the document, select the 3 dots in the top right corner and verify that Link Sharing is ON, if it is not, tap it to turn it on and go back to the share menu. Tap "Copy Link" and now go to your text messages and Paste the link and you can now send to your recipient.

  • How do you change the background color on my phone when I scan the document it has a white background how can it change to black background like yours on the video

  • I find that if using a phone, put a piece of glass over the document to get it flat. If you see the lights in the room, try changing the camera angle. That just works for me because an app I use does not require the camera to be perfectly centered above the document and level to it. It finds the edges of the pages with good accuracy and then you get a fairly good scan nearly every time. Also some phones have scanning in the camera app. Look for more options or something like that and it will be there somewhere if it has it. My Motorola Edge has it. If you want to know if you have it, look, I don't know what your phone is like. It is not on all of them and then you may need an app or Google Drive to do it instead. Really, I don't do it with the phone all the time. I have a document scanner I use whenever possible.

  • Other than it removes a step (cut-and-paste) from taking a photo and editing, what is the point of scan? Are the files smaller than a photo?

  • Hi! I just was trying to send a fax on an app online & it asked for the fax # & then scanned the documents but then got a response could not send not enough memory & closed! Can these documents be accessed by someone? They were never saved to my android phone! Am concerned about the confidentiality! Thnx!

  • Thanks, helped me alot...but is there a method for this in iOS? The only available feature is take a photo and that sucks. I found a way but it’s in the notes app but i need it in drive
