This is exactly how they are made in the factory. I watched a "this is how it's made" episode once.
Really do you have the link?
Well it was many many years ago I think in the 90s
@@lesmcc8103 oh ohk no problem Now a days these are made with injection moulding technology
These are now made with 3d printers
@@lesmcc8103 Can u please tell me what kind of starch I should use? corn starch? potato starch? ❤
Make sure you use acetic cure silicone (the stuff that smells like vinegar). The other variety will take weeks to set if it's too thick.

buy a model version of your phone
+TheLucos1996 you can use Styrofoam or clay to replace the phone, just make sure it has the right size..
+Nicholas Ruiz Model phones are about $10 and cases are 50c
God lol then you could sleep in one day

This seems like an interesting way to seal up low-power DYI electronics for weatherizing. Not only for a water-proof layer, but to protect it against hard hits with something soft. I think a thick shell like this would take a lot of beating, and being a mold-able putty makes it very versatile. I could also imagine this being useful for DIY tool grips, to approximate vulcanized rubber. I assume the starch is just there to make it less sticky to where you can handle it. Does it affect the final strength after curing significantly?
wait, I have to go 12 hours without my phone to make this?! IMPOSSIBLE
Overnight bruh 😂
Lol I didn't even think od that, I'd prob die of boredom
0:09 - hello Gays??
Lol
hahhahaa
+Zenobia Haku i know i just told my friend
is "Hello guys" no "gays"
+Dulce_ moore yeah, we know it, but with that little accent, it sounds like "gays"...
Options may be to use clear silicone and maybe something other than potato starch - like gum tragacanth (I use that for making soft pastels and a small amount can jell to make a large batch of pastels, so possibly less could be used - just something for thought.) Other possible starch substitutions could be tapioca, coconut, rice, just about any flour may work similarly. There are cool PearlEx pigments like interference colors that could be added in. I may have to make a case for my ipad pro that I haven't been able to find any case for yet.
Can you use talc instead of starch

Stvarno sta je to?
I really like this idea, i have a pretty uncommon and outdated phone, I can only buy cases online and only have limited options.
Which phone do you have?
My friend tried this. He made two: one he painted/dyed a tie dye style, and the other a camouflage pattern to blend with his airsoft and hunting outfits.
This is such a great idea and after its done we can design the cases as we want to! loved it :)
i have watched this video before... wanted to watch again... was thinking perhaps I could try this process to make a protective cover for a laptop? i haven't decided yet if it's a good idea... thoughts?
thank you so much. it's hard to look for casing for my phone, even thou it's almost 1 year after it's brand came out, it's rare to find the casing... update :i did it! but the back doesn't came out nice so i use your technic to cover the uneven surface using raw silicone.
I wonder if I could use this to just add to my rigid case for my laptop. Also I like how at the end you advocated how it is safe. Whoo! Chemistry!
This is why I'm subbed, love this channel!
If you wanted to paint this, what sort of paint would you recommend using? I have acrylic but I don't think that would last very well. If I did use acrylic, do you think a sealant spray would work over this?
Awesome, I might try making silicone boots for my power tools. For some reason there is no oem or aftermarket boots for most of the Milwaukee tools out right now. We'll see how this works out.
Yes! It would also be excellent for replacing missing foot caps from the legs of metal stools etc. The options are pretty much endless, really. I also think that if you experiment with the various types of plant based starches and the quantity and even branch into things like plaster of Paris or drywall material (whatever that's made of), you could be able to fit any need you have in custom detail.
This is sooo useful, I will use it for cosplay, to make a flexible mask, THANK YOU. ♥
Why did he keep calling us gays?!😂😂 I'm straight as a ruler!😂😂
Debatable lol
I have been considering how to make a cover for the ear thermometers we use at the vet clinic I work at so thank you!
Thank you very much. You've just helped me out! Your videos are very intelligent, gives me little projects to occupy my time and inspire me to create and innovate! Thank you!
Is there anyway to shrink it while it's curing so that it's really tight?

Wow this is the perfect solution. I have a firefox fx0 and you cannot find a case specifically for this phone. I have some generic case on it now but I hate it. Plus it looks like I can make this case orange. This is a badass.
did he just say: "hellow gayz"
This video is a nightmare for phone freaks they couldn't go 12 hours without their phone
Overnight.... DUH! Or, you can also use another phone, or a computer.
I couldn't find a cover for my car fob starter so I use this method and voilà! Now I can hang it to my keychain as the fob part was broken! Thanks for this! 😁
These has been helpful.. Can one get the raw flour for baking. Then the raw foam, can one get that on Ali express?

I heard "Hello Gays" lmfao 😂😂😭✨
Can you post the link on Amazon to the exact kind of silicone we might need

Wraps the phone in gladwrap/cling wrap and yes you can use cornstarch or corn flour, this also works for making resins molds or anything else you might use silicon for.
what do i do if i want to color it? is adding food coloring / some kind of paint to the silicone before i start making case good?
Did he just said "Hello gays" 😅
Idk
No i don't think soo
I think i heard him say"hello gays" at the start
About how much potato starch and silicon do you recommend to make the finished case come out like it did in the video? Thanks!!
woahh did you design your intro its amazing!!
What can I use insead the potato starch ?
+Dz Show I've seen in another tutorial they use corn flour instead, but I didn't try it.
lalvarezromano Thanks :)
You can use any kind of starch or baby powder
cocaine
+Dz Show U can use chicken tikka msala
how can you dye it?
Just mix it with food colouring when it is in that dough like stage
i want to dye an already dried silicon case
+Block Kingdom just colour it with spray.anycolour you like
You can use acrylic paint or spray paint
u can add acrylic paint to the dough
Does it work with silicone to make molds? The one that has A and B solution and gets mixed together?
Question do u have to put start checking first or it doesn't matter
Imagine adding too much silicone and not being able to take the phone out
Can i use corn starch
UTPAL CHAKRABORTY Most people use corn starch. So i guess yes
Mrs. Uniicorn thanks
No problem
Can i use corn flour instead of corn starch
Harsheel Chandra yeah
Really like your intro dude, what 3d soft was used
Hello, I've been working on designing a phone case for my project, and I'd love to get your expert opinions on the materials I'm considering. I've narrowed it down to TPU, polycarbonate, and silicone.
That's a good selection of materials to consider. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. TPU, for example, offers good shock absorption, while polycarbonate is known for its durability. Silicone provides a nice grip. What specific properties are you looking for in your phone case material?
@@areuhu9230 I'm aiming for a balance between protection, cost-effectiveness, and ease of production. I want the case to be durable but not overly expensive to manufacture.🙂
@@hanhan-oy9hu It's great that you're considering both functionality and cost-effectiveness. Have you thought about how each material might affect the design aesthetics of the phone case? 🤔Different materials can give a case a different look and feel.
@@areuhu9230 Yes, I have. I'm trying to balance between ease of production and material quality. I don't want the manufacturing process to be overly complicated.
@@areuhu9230 Thank you for your insights👍
every other comment is about "hey gays". its his accent ffs

WHAT THE F*
Wonderful. I have a unique and outdated phone and need this kind of fix. But how do you change or add colour?
I have some questions can we do with any type of silicone? is potatoe starch is necessary? I saw some other vedio where they use corn flour. as I don't have potatoe starch can we use corn flour?
I wouldn't use this case even if u give it for free with 10$
well I would use it.... as a paper weight and I got free 10
lol who is going to go without their phone for 12 hours?
idk its impossible
Frank Hughes I was thinking the same thing
Saundra K someone who let it die and has no charger and isn't by any store anywhere
If you're going to sleep lol 😂
Frank Hughes just Netflix and chill for 12 hours lol
Very good! Not everyone has an iPhone or iPod Touch. I want to mold that silicone around an AGPTek T05 (4-inch) Media Player. I hope they have clear silicone in a tube.
Hi Did you manage to do it around AGPTECK mp3 player, i'm about try?
I was a waitress for almost 25 years and one of my very favorite incidents happened when I approached a new table by greeting them with "How's it going, Folks?", as is common to say here in Minneapolis. The young couple both looked up at me and the woman immediately asked if I had just called them GOATS. I busted out laughing and told her that no, I had indeed not-but for years I'd been looking for a discreet way to relieve the tension that the worst customers can build in me throughout the day from time to time. That is how I began my own personal little inside joke of getting away with calling people goats who were acting like insufferable pigs. (Both are animals I'd find easier to serve Any Day!!)
or you just buy one for 4$
There are some phones that aren't easy to find a case
+Jota C i guarantee you go to ebay and find cover for any phone
Ollie Badstue jup
Ollie Badstue but there's shipping costs and many times there's only a very few variations to chose... That's the problem I had with my old phone, only in eBay and aliexpress it was possible to find a case for it and most of them I didn't like, it would be better to make my own
+Jota C plus, you have the I made it myself feel of accomplishment.
when this case gets wet what will happen to it
Michael Smalley now THESE are the real questions!
There will be drops of water all over it!
Phil Allen shit, that's some real horror
I know, really frightening isn't it? Michael might have to dry them off. Stephen King should use it in his next book.
Man.. Did you mix starch with silicon to get that. ? that is cool..
adding the acrylic color, can color the product, such as for polymer clay, you can also get the marble effect. ^_^
Is it me or does he say hello gays😂
Yeah, he did.
cheap construction silicone is highly corrosive. It will destroy electronics. You need to use neutral cure silicone for anything near electronics. That phone is most likely a brick now
ipissed Firstly, let me commend you on such fine language you excersize in talking to strangers, your mother would be proud. Secondly, phones easily fill up with lint and pocket dust, that is way bigger than corrosive gas molecules...if your wrapping it for 12 hrs in a silicone blanket it will be foreced in and work in through the USB socket, the buttons, the 3.5mm jack and the cracks all the way around. I have first hand experience with this, as i tried to make a waterproof housing for a metal detector. The entire electronics were rotted and rusted within a week. And thirdly, crawl away and make argument with someone as stupid as yourself since you are clearly out of your depth, as you have zero idea about the subject, and obviously you are just out looking for someone to troll.
m3sca1 Aww your little book is just darling. Somehow you missed the part about cutting the silicone with starch which dramatically reduces viscosity, and flow. Not that it really matters because like I said silicone is not corrosive, in fact it is used in the electronics industry extensively for things like securing modular components to circuit boards.
ipissed glad you liked it honey. Was it too long for your attention span? Did you miss the particular in my 1st post about Neutral Cure silicone? The goo doesn't leak in fool. It's the vapor from the curing process that is corrosive. The gas permeates. Go on, try it. Destroy your mommies phone. See for yourself. I can tell any good advice is lost on you. Do some homework on silicone products. The maker of this video neglects to tell anyone about the different types and their applications. The give away that he is as ignorant as yourself is that he mentioned doing it outside because of the vapors.
m3sca1 Sounds like you sealed some moisture up into your metal detector with silicone, and ruined it dumbass. You should have coated the circuit board with silicone first. lol
ipissed this is from Dow Corning RTV moisture cure systems for silicone polymers Learn how RTV moisture cure systems for silicone polymers work with a condensation reaction in humidity. Common applications: Building sealants, bathtub caulk, roof coatings, elastomers, curable medical adhesives, electronics adhesives, fabric and leather waterproofing coatings Advantages RTV (room-temperature vulcanizing); cure can be accelerated by increasing temperature and humidity Robust cure system One-part ease of use Relatively low cost Good adhesion Neutral cure options (alkoxy) Disadvantages Shelf- and pot-life limitations related to the potential for accidental exposure to moisture vapor. Acetoxy cure generates acetic acid, which is corrosive to metal and has an unpleasant vinegar odor. Isopropyl alcohol or lithium-based additives found in greases and lubricants can inhibit some moisture cure products. Relatively slow rate of cure. Only useful for relatively thin sections due to moisture requirement; not good for highly confined applications.
Great stuff - i love this channel!
the idea is amazing 😍 but I don't know what is the potato -stuff- is it like corn flour or something?? please answer 🌚
Hello gays how are y all ???
all his efforts gone waste, just bcz he pronounced guyz as gayz.... seriously? GROW UP PPL
Learn how to spell, you little fuck.
usually people spell things differently to save time but it would take the same amount of time and letters to spell the words correctly... I hate "PPL" like you lol I can see how that one would save time but "gays" and "gayz" literally have the same amount of letters s0o0o why you do that?!
So, you noticed that? lol

You're not alone.
way too much effort just go on eBay and buy a case for $0,99
some people don't have popular brands of phone and can't find case for the phone they have
+Zoe Hanji true but still i rather go without a case😂
But it gives additional protection
+Faixo Productions if you pay £5 to £10 in Shipping you obviously don't filter your search, as i personally buy many cases under £1 with free shipping on eBay. Do your research before commenting!
If you have a phone that you can't find a case for, currently you can buy universal bumpers made from a super stretchy silicone. They accommodate a large range of phone shapes and sizes, but they have their issues too. I am not always happy with cases that you can buy. They might have rough edges, they might not sit well enough, the holes can be offset. I think being able to create your own protective case is still a valuable skill :) Even though the edge around the screen didn't come out too well in this video, and honestly i don't have a technique in mind on how to make it better. But i guess with enough effort, you can accomplish anything. Shipping small items from China that fit into a mail envelope only costs a fraction of a dollar; however it takes 10-14 days usually, the time that your phone will be unprotected. By the way, that comment at the end of the video about silicone being safe... well that only applies to pure silicone cured by platinum catalyst, which is quite expensive. This does not apply to home improvement caulk, which will usually be cured by peroxide or tin and produce various chemical byproducts. It's not dangerous to touch, but it's not safe around injuries and food.
This was the first result in a Google search and it looks quite useful to make a case for my 'new old stock' tablet.
Can i sub out the potato starch with something else? I can’t find it near by
