How and why do we measure time? - with Leon Lobo
Why do we need to coordinate the way we measure time? And how do atomic clocks work? Find out with Leon Lobo, Head of the National Timing Centre (NTC) programme at the National Physical Laboratory.

A chartered engineer, with a PhD in high power laser material processing, Dr Lobo joined NPL in 2011 as Group Leader for the Time & Frequency group, working with the team managing the UK’s time scale and developing quantum frequency standards. He led the team developing NPLTime®, NPL’s certified fibre-delivered time dissemination solution to the City of London for high frequency trading systems and regulatory compliance.

Bloody hell, this is absolutely one of the GOAT shorts! Well done.
I thought all serious scientists used a ping pong ball bouncing in a train to measure time.
😂
Wow a interesting time video 👍
Excellent video! Thank you!
Considering the devastating affects if time is displaced eg by cyber attack etc. I wonder just how well it is protected?
Enters ❤ : " ... Time is all about the options ... " Ya name'em All❤
Wow, so much valuable info in this video! With longer videos, it can be hard to retain everything.Anyone know of any AI tools that summarize key points from KZhead videos?
Great reminder
You said that atomic clocks are driven by radiation at a given "energy". However, given that radiation energy can also be defined as wavelength can it be said that you are using one atomic frequency clock to drive another atomic frequency clock? What method could you use to check the frequency of both clocks?
I am so interest to know what do American use. Cheeseburger cooking time? What’s the freedom unit for time?
It's either bald Eagle wing flaps or 65 rounds from a GAU-8
Wow
I don't think time can be measured. Clocks just track duration, based on a set of rules. 😉
Time is an illusion, lunch time, doubly so.
Mmm brain food
The only time you live in is the present.
All this because trains went fast enough to notice and needed a way to schedule pick up and drop offs. Yet the meaning of noon is about as far from what this guy is talking about as possible.

I am. I am not providing you likes however.
Time and maths are wrong. Take today's date, subtract the date you were born. The result is a completely meaningless number.

Time is illusion.
