i sometimes humor him with my 100 health character in legendary, so it looks like he can instant kill me, but i got 85% magic resistance and 30% spell absorption

@@ashiagefa646elemental resistance stacks with Magic resistance as well, so you pretty much take chip damage from mages who would normally delete you on legendary, and that's without taking the atronach stone and perk. With those two the mage pretty much flips a coin on whether or not their spell even hits you in the first place. Yet even with all that and max armor a Briarheart can instantly fold you with a dual power attack from his flint knapped axes. Legendary is silly.

My run in with this poor guy went down like this: Estarmo: rambles My Altmer wearing mostly daedric, some random destruction/alteration robe and a backpack with dawnbreaker: I have no quarrel with you sir. Estarmo: you fool you don’t stand a chance. I proceed to sheathe my weapon and spell. Estarmo: fine I’ll let you li- I then shut the door on his face and bumble around till I found a ladder out. Honestly the fact you can just sheathe and walk past him is just funny as he is the only person I’ve found who is like that in Skyrim.

I think once I paralyzed him and left. Certainly I've paralyzed him and cast Wither (which is a modded DoT version of vampiric drain) and just let him lay there as his health slowly siphons off. The Sword on the left is Miraak' Sword you obtain it after defeating him. The sword on the right is just a normal Daedric sword.
In other words, yes. You need the Dragonborn DLC to kill Miraak’ for the sword on the left. The one the right is already in the vanilla game (as he said).
