There is a right and wrong way to behead or top succulents if you're after more plants. Doing it the wrong is likely to result in the bottom part of the plant dying.
A couple of months ago i cut the tops off 3 plants. One had a leaf left behind on the bottom, root part but the remaining two did not. In this video i'll show you what the result of this seemingly minor thing was.
Beheading a succulent can give you anywhere between 2-8 new plants but it can also give you nothing at all.

Now I understand why a few of my succulent stalks are not making new shoots. I’ll leave a few leaves from now on. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Glad i could help ☺💚
What a great video! Thanks for sharing. This makes total sense 😊
Aw, thank you 🙂💚
As usual, very useful information. Thank you; love your channel.
Thank you so much 💚 glad i could help 🙂
Tq Kat for explaining how to propagate succulents without it dying on u. I did wonder y d 'bald' stalk I left standing after cutting off its 'head', jus withered away even tho it actually sprouted a small stalk!! There's so much to learn!
Glad i could help 🙂 You're definitely right- so much to learn and i'm still learning as well 😀
Great explanation. So clear and useful. Love your channel.
Thank you so much 🙂💚
glad you clarified about lovely rose, i've been reluctant to chop as i love them so much and wasn't sure what to do ( i was so excited when i finally was able to buy one). Can't wait to get more propagating them
It's such a tricky little plant- some do branch out but most just end up on a single tall stalk 😅 But it is also so pretty i don't mind doing the extra maintenance💚
@@SucculentGrowingTips they are lovely, i loved them the moment i first discovered them. Would love a variegated one
Great information. Thanks! Also was able to identify my Echeveria 'Blue Bird' that I grew from a leaf propagation.
So glad i could help and thank you for your kind comment 🙂
thank you for clarifying that single stalk will most likely die if chopped unless it is part of a multi stalk plant...i did not realize that ...and i have been playing with succulents for a few years..😕🌱..
There's always so much to learn- even after so many years i learn new things about succulents all the time 😅💚 Glad i could help though 💚
Very nice vlog...subs kr liya hai
Thank you 🙂
Thank you Kat for this wonderful video. Im guessing the beheading should be done only in its growing season like the lovely rose in winter? Or even dormant succulents root/put out pups as well but slowly?
oop, i forgot to mention that- i'll be doing a video on it today. But yes, definitely in the growing season 🙂
