I don’t care what anyone says, this was a great game and story line for a “short” prequel/ “filler game”. I’m actually restarting it right now. I’m into action slash games, and this was perfect. My biggest concern is BOTW2, so many of us have extremely high expectations for the sequel, because of how intense and beautiful/immaculate BOTW was. I can only hope that Nintendo doesn’t let us down. Especially finding out they’re using the same map. Leading me to think it will be a much darker, perhaps “underground” game play.
I was sold when they said Hyrule Warriors ngl. But it’s Hyrule Warriors and BotW in one, which was so good for me. My favorite main series + my favorite spinoff = a great game in my eyes. And great it was. It doesn’t top the original HW imo, but it’s right up there as a top tier game and an overall fantastic experience.

I can't say anything about this game's quality (as I didn't buy it), but Nintendo should've been honest about what this game was instead of falsely marketing it as an actual prequel.

That memory where Link had slaughtered countless monsters, including several Lynels, suddenly makes a lot more sense. He was powered by Dynasty Warriors strength.
He got ungodly nerfed after the Shrine of Resurrection. I mean healing a basically dead body back to life must takes it's toll on the person and wouldn't be as strong. That's my personal head cannon why link can fight 20 black bokoblins here and defeats them in seconds while in BOTW he can barely fight 5 at once and takes around 4-9 minutes to kill them all.
I think is because ganon at his resurretion makes the enemies more powerful in the original game zelda said something like that

Still is. The events of Age of Calamity occur the _exact_ way they do in Breath of the Wild up until Terraco goes back in time in the opening cinematic. It's still canon because AoC *_always_* happens because Terraco *_always_* goes back in time once Zelda awakens her power to save Link at Fort Hateno against the Guardians, Terraco is activated and then notices the destruction caused by the Calamity

This may be the first time that Nintendo's actually done that. I mean, Hyrule being destroyed has always been a backstory element, but we're finally getting to see it for ourselves, and play it! You're not going to be alone in shedding tears.

They lied about the game taking place 100 years before the events of BOTW (this statement was made in both the announcement video and on Age of Calamity's website). As it's in a separate timeline from BOTW, it doesn't precede it, so this statement is a lie. 2. They lied about this game enabling the player to experience the events of the Great Calamity as it happened in the backstory of BOTW (this statement was made in both the announcement video and on the website multiple times). We got an alternate-timeline variation of the calamity that is stopped before a number of its events could truly begin, so this statement is a lie. Oh, and the definition of a prequel is a story that precedes the events of a previous work, and in many cases is a story that shows events that were part of the backstory of said previous work. Nintendo claimed that Age of Calamity precedes BOTW and that it would show the events that were part of the backstory of BOTW, both of which turned out to be untrue. That would mean, by definition, that they lied about the game being a prequel to BOTW.

Same here. Hyrule warriors used to play around the Zelda titles, that I don't care so much for, did not care a bit to play them. Since BotW is my absolute favorite single player game, even though this here will have different gameplay, I may have to get it. Not like there are many Nintendo games out there I am currently interested in getting......
Same here. For me it will depend mostly on the mechanics, if it falls again into heavy fortress/keep defense-conquest, then I think I'll pass and just watch videos on KZhead to keep up with the lore.

I don’t know how I’m gonna feel about playing this game. On one hand, I’m really excited to play as the champions, see hyrule in a golden age, and experience the fight, but at the same time I’m confident that the end of it will leave me in tears. It’s going to be much more sad then botw already was

@@universaljoyconboyz4ever161 I think they'll spin the ending in a bitter sweet sort of way, based on that final scene. *SPOILERS* . . . . . . Because at least Zelda manages to Seal Calamity Ganon to some extent. And the rest of Hyrule, outside of the castle and its town, are able to live in relative peace for the next hundred years until Link wakes up.

To be fair, they said it was a "new story set 100 years before BOTW" and we did get that. So *shrug*
We did tho. The only thing that was non canon was like the last 5 hours of gameplay

They said that we would experience the events of the great calamity; we got a variation of the calamity that's defeated before it can truly begin. They lied.
Except it isn't set 100 years before BOTW as it's set in an entirely different timeline from BOTW.
@@matthewmuir8884 Semantics, and translation error I’m willing to bet. I was satisfied with what we got, a predictable and hopeless ending didn’t seem like a Nintendo thing to published anyway. The fact that everyone is arguing about the semantics of what is or isn’t based on an event that hasn’t happened yet would hint that people would have been arguing over its canon/noncanon state. (I know it’s noncanon to the original game.)

Man I wish I could forget the game and just rewatch the trailers, getting excited and absolutely terrified of seeing every BOTW character I've come to know and love die, and the expanded story of what the memories hinted at, now with people like Impa and others. The plot twist was REALLY epic and surprising, to be able to have past and future champions teaming up, and as an alternate timeline, I can accept this win.
Playing this game gave me goosebumps 24/7.

The game was great. The only Warriors game I didn't get bored with, and actually finished. However it is not what they advertised. The story/timeline doesn't further the main story. It's self-contained.

SO YOU'RE TELLING ME WE CAN ACTUALLY PLAY AGAINST GANON IN PAST HISTORY AKA THE BEGINNING OF THE FRICKIN STORY LINE? I'm in.
So, the part with Mipha fighting the guardian at 1:02 caught my attention. The guardian is pink, which means that Mipha is definitely not using it for training or something like that, since guardians were orange before Ganon took control of them. So this scene definitely takes place after Calamity Ganon wakes up. With that knowledge, I think that this scene is taken from a battle that I think will take place after the one memory in Botw where Zelda tells the champions she couldn't awaken her powers in Mt. Lanayru. That cutscene is the one where Calamity Ganon finally wakes up, and Daruk tells the champions to get to their Divine Beasts. So in the battle we saw at 1:02, I think the objective will be just that: Make your way to the Divine Beasts. I wonder if that battle will play out differently depending on which character you play as? Or maybe you play as all of them and when you get to the Divine Beast with one champion, you simply switch to another. I played Hyrule Warriors on the Wii U and not the Switch, and Wii U version didn't have the feature where you can switch characters mid-battle like I think the switch version did, just to clarify where I'm coming from.
This is literally EXACTLY what I wanted when I imagined the full story before Link woke up in the shrine of resurrection.

well thank god we have this. One of my main yet few disappointments with BoTW was how they made the flashbacks just cutscenes instead of great unique sequences. It felt like such a wasted opportunity. Not to mention it was weird seeing how link could fight a few enemies in game but in the flashbacks the man was mopping the floor with 3 Lynels, 1 Guardian, 7 Boks, 3 Mob and 5 Lizardos

There's a great Zelda theory about how the original Hyrule Warriors broke dimensions and essentially merges the time lines into one, I'm not personally a fan of timeline theories (they usually go no where and are boring) but this one I really like! Feels poetic.
While it doesn't have the "Warriors" title, Persona 5 Royal is also canon (to the vanilla version, not Royal)

No. You presuming others' intentions & feelings is arrogant, and behaving as though you are right without question is childish. I despise the hype, now, because all I can remember is excitedly waiting for a game that was not being made. I remember watching videos speculating the Champion's final Hero's Path, their encounters during the actual Calamity event, and how their deaths would be handled in a gameplay sense. I remember watching clips from these trailers of the Champions failing to combat their respective Blights, getting excited over the prospect of heartbreak, not knowing that in those very same cutscenes a magic time travel twist would wrench it away from me. I was lied to, and those shots of Urbosa stumbling to her knees & Revali being shot are the most damningly misguiding clips I have ever seen in a trailer.

So it turns out the dialogue from both Impa and King Rhoam at the beginning of the trailer was taken directly from Breath of the Wild. I think that's why people assumed it was direct prequel to the game. Technically its true since the first few minutes of the game takes place during the Great Calamity where Link falls. But the moment the tiny guardian traveled back in time through the gate of time, it caused the timeline to split again.
