Hollywood in their standard idiotic approach thinks that you should focus on the popular actor they hired (stranger things is brain dead and overrated) instead of the story. Also Hollywood just because your making a movie for kids dose not mean you have to cast kids in it. Kids want to be adults and adults don't want to watch kids doing a bunch of unrealistic crap for 90 minutes.

It was their mindset and outlook and the way they treated each other in the second one when they fell in the slime .I think was letting us know how they really felt about beach other. So the split was bound to happen. Plus Ray beliefs changed over the years. Which I think drove to his Disagreements with Egon's. Ray kept switching up in the second film..he really was deep into Occult Vs Scientific theories so kinda an open book. Egon was straight forward ends justifies the means kind a guy but very much hard knowledge into world history. In turn this movie shows it. He was practically Nostradamus in the Millennium . Peter the Psychic but probably had self doubts and probably got sued by his tv show and just went through life. • I feel like the sequence of events that led to the Original GBs coming to help in the end played out something like this... -Egon told Janine of his plan to trap Gozer before the start of Afterlife, and asks her to do 3 things and to Check on him/visit regularly. And if he should no longer be of this world on one of her check-ins, for her to..... 1. Make sure his last will and testament was enforced, giving Callie the house. 2. Tell Callie (hense the phone call) 3. Tell Peter, Winston, and Ray, With Ray being the last, because Egon knew that his word, whether direct or indirect through Janine wouldn't be enough to convince him after the nature of their parting of ways. It would likely take the convincing of the others to finally get Ray back aboard this train... -After meeting with Callie, Trevor and Phoebe, while the events of the next couple days plays out in Summerville, Janine flies back to New York, and meets with Dana and Peter AFTER the post-credits scene cuts off (where Dana was using the cards and shocking Peter.). Janine explains that something is going on in Summerville, and eventhough Peter is VERY reluctant at first (still feeling hurt by Egon's departure with their equipment, minus Peter, Ray, and Winston's proton Packs and Uniforms.), but after Janine explains that Egon had passed, Peter with his heart of gold feels like he needs to go, not just to help the Spengler family, but for a sense of closure. Peter's heart of gold would shine through here. Then We see Janine paying Winston a visit in his office (2nd post-credits scene). Winston isn't as hard to convince as Peter and Ray would be. Then we see Ray in his Occult Book Store. Ray and Phoebe had just spoken on the phone. Ray was about to inquire for more information, as well as mourn the loss of his old friend, lamenting the time that was spent hating him. Ray wished that there was something he could do to help the Spengler's, and make it up to Egon, because he felt he owed his old friend that much, and get closure as well. Then suddenly, a familiar face reappears. One that Ray likely hasn't seen or heard from for some time, probably because of how close she was to Egon. However, after the conversation he just had with Phoebe, Ray would be more likely to hear Janine out, half guessing what this contact/visit was about before she even spoke a word. Winston would then front the travel expenses for himself, Ray and Peter, and then after days flight, likely on a private plane/jet, makes it out to Summerville. And if Janine hadn't informed them of where Egon's farmhouse was, I'm sure the swirling vortex of clouds with glowing lights coming out of it would've been a major clue.

That and the voice breaking at “He died last week.” We see her let it out in the background at the end of the movie. • This film is sort of an allegory to Harold Ramis and Bill Murray’s friendship. They were friendly up until Groundhog Day (1993) but then they refused to work together again until Ghostbusters (2009). • What basically happened; Harold directed Groundhog Day whilst Bill obviously starred in it; they had very different ideas on how to go about the film. Bill wanted to focus on the philosophical elements, whilst Harold wanted to direct it as a comedy first snd foremost. Bill’s known for being a bit temperamental to work with sometimes and he very much was there; the two fell out severely and didn’t speak for over twenty years, barring some brief exchanges at events. Harold was apparently keen to make up, but Bill less so; he barely spoke of Harold in interviews and wouldn’t accept any role Harold offered him. Harold and Bill are both heard in Ghostbusters The Video Game (2009), but recorded their dialogue separately. Come 2014, Harold’s on his deathbed and Bill’s brother Brian-Doyle urges him to reconcile with Harold, so they do. Bill and Brian now speak fondly of Harold. The real-life estrangement is sort-of mirrored in Afterlife, but to a much lower extent than what happened after Groundhog Day. Nobody really did anyone “dirty”, but the disagreement must have really rankled for two close collaborators to not speak for over two decades.

  • A lot of people say Ray seems a bit out of character in this scene, in that it’s not like him to be bitter or not believing Egon despite everything they’ve been through and seen. Tbh I think this brings a lot more depth to the characters. Let me explain. It’s several years after defeating Vigo in 1989 (or Shandor in 1991), the paranormal activity is starting to drop, finances are becoming an issue and there seems to be no sign of another Big Twinkie/World threatening entity, yet Egon keeps insisting to the guys that the apocalypse is coming and in the process he scares off any chances the guys have with clients to maintain their business. Idk about you but if I were Ray, I would MOST definitely be concerned and angry at him for what’s happening to him and what he’s doing. Cause again, even though there was absolutely NO signs or suspicions about any upcoming threat that could destroy the world, Egon is still frantically saying that the world is gonna end, so why believe him? Ray and the others would presume that he’s suffering a mental breakdown and when he cleaned out the firehouse, the guys would’ve been like, “That’s it!! Egons gone nuts and we’re not gonna last longer as the ghostbusters so let’s walk away!!” Although after the anger tones down, I imagine Ray would suddenly feel sad that he essentially just lost one of his best friends and can’t really do anything to help him. Then when Egon phoned him a decade later and is still acting as frantic and insane as he did back then, Ray would’ve been thinking “Oh god he hasn’t regained any sanity back since then…..” So yeah I think his attitude is justified. Although instead of saying he can rot in hell, he should’ve said something like this to show he still somewhat worry about him, Phoebe: “I’m…I’m calling about Egon Spengler.” Ray: (in a bit of a stern/worry delivery) “….Egon Spengler. What about him whats he done this time?” Phoebe: (surprised and confused) “Well…He died last week.” Ray: (instantly saddened) “ (pause) Ah man. No kidding.”

    • But see that's the thing, I think that's exactly where Ray's mind was going, until Phoebe said _"Egon Spengler was my grandfather. "_ and the tone shifted. Because now Ray is realizing, Egon went off and had a family, and this wasn't some crank calling Ray, it was family calling Ray and asking for his help.

      @AgentExeider@AgentExeider2 жыл бұрын
    • Yeah I can understand Ray’s anger and reaction honestly, heck his “Egon Spengler can rot in hell” line feels less like anger and more like disappointment. Honestly the fact that Ray says he wanted to believe Egon speaks volumes to his character that he wanted so badly to believe that there was another shot at The Ghostbusters saving the world but the evidence just wasn’t there and Egon’s attitude made it even harder to believe

I don't know how close Harold and Dan were, but when I watch this scene in particular, it makes me wonder if it was in part theraputic to get out some of that emotion over losing a friend. • One thought. As done with ghost busting as he sounds in this conversation, he’s only having it because he’s still using their old phone number. He could quite easily have gotten a new phone number when he opened his shop, but after all these years the Ghostbuster’s phone number connects you directly to him.

    • Not according to California penal code, which while not applicable in the state this is presumed filmed in at least implies it can apply there without violating federal law. Since it is not a LOCAL call and is being billed to the law enforcement institution, versus calling collect or using a calling card, he was entitled to cancel the call the moment he realized the kid was calling a New York City area code

    • Winston's role was always to keep the rest of the GBs grounded, we just didn't know how. It was so sad when Winston tells Egon's Ghost "Should had called my friend, I've missed you" And Egon facial answer was like "Yeah, my bad". I love that Winston got a stronger character development because since the originals, even when he was described as keeping the others grounded because he was the sound of reason and the everyday man, he was almost a side character. So seeing how much he loves his friends and partners and being a GB to the point of being the one to secretly care for them or be willing to do so is just the best thing, also, he is not just into finance and a multi millionaire, he also is now a Doctor in History and Egyptology, since the 2009 cannon game...Dr. Winston Zeddemore, always a Ghostbuster.
