Abi First Time At New Project! • Introducing Abigale "A...
Abi had become highly hormonal after the birth of her cubs. A survival instinct. In the beginning, only one female staff member could baby sit them. After working with Abi to earn her trust, she allows me to visit her cubs.
It's important to me for everyone caring for Abi and her cubs to be trusted. Time, love and respect heals. Abi is totally good now with her caregivers coming to visit and care for them. Even volunteers are trusted as I have asked for everyone;'s help in taming the cubs for better care going forward. I intend to place Kimi (the female cub I named her) back into the breeding program and that means I need to friendly with caregivers, whether familiar folks or strangers as I my place her on loan to a qualified breeding project years from now.
In this video I talk about why I am taming the cubs and how it benefits their overall care in the future. I also get permission from Abi to hold and experience the cubs which are only 5 days old! It was amazed how developed there were already and how the constantly move and exercise, nurse from mom and sleep to grow. I see a lot of instincts in both mom and the cubs expressing themselves and was simply fascinated. no one taught Abi to call to her cubs or be protective. It is a survival instinct.
I show glimpses of the future for these cubs and Abi as I've asked for them to be tamed to allow everyone to care for them, place a harness on them for controlled escorts to a large closed game farm (next to the project) and practice free roaming walks off lead on this veld area with prey animals.
Hope you enjoy the pleasure of seeing these cubs and sweet Abi. Much more to come.
Thanks for watching!

    • I came into my room to find my 1 year old daughter inside the enclosure with my mom's dog and her new born pups. She was sitting right next to Arya and holding one of the pup's above her head, "flying" it around. Arya just seemed to smile at her. Then she left the enclosure to go get a drink and go outside to potty. Leaving her with the pups. This is a dog that is very skittish and afraid of strangers. Loves and trusts kids tho.

But that is strong pre-established trust, plus domestic cats are small animals and humans are a lot bigger than them.

I was not informed about it, but hopefully he gave me some positive review but knowing his no nosense style, probably had some points for improvement too. • :) I thought it important to show my feelings and level of sincerity toward the goals of this project. Breed and rewild cheetahs. Next will be training for release. That could happen if I have more cubs and train them for rewilding in the future. All my cubs will go through the training for my understanding and their enrichment and benefit even if they may or may not be released. Kimi, for instance, I don't plan on releasing because I need her as a breeder. She is being trained to eat variety of game animals and watching hunts from other cheetahs on a open game reserve. She will be allowed to hunt on her own when old enough and strong enough. She is 7 months old now. I only have 2 females now so need more breeders and cubs before I can release any. But that is my goal. It had been 10yrs before I got the assistance I needed to breed cubs. Then Abi borr these cubs. Thx for watching and commenting!

Look it up on Amazon Books or the link at the bottom of my description in this video if interested in the book(s). Like most all celebrities, radio and TV talk show hosts, I use a fake name to protect my privacy and identity. It has worked out well as only my family, friends, colleagues and occasionally person recognizes me from my videos. My stage name is a subtext consisting of my favorite animals in the world. My younger brother and mom almost died during childbirth too, so I especially love Abi's story. This video is just more great evidence that although instinct is very strong, animals aren't completely bound to it like robots running on a program. Abi is able to assess the situation and _decide_ that instinct can take a back seat - because she trusts you and your intent. I wonder if her cubs' *obvious* comfort with you is also a factor in her remaining calm.

    • @@98802ohhey Hello. Not sure if you are asking about when Abi was born or her cubs so tell you both. Abi was born via C-Section because she was caught in the birth canal and when they removed her, her hip was damaged that needed a piece of her bone removed months later. As for her birth of the cubs, it went PERFECT. Both cubs are growing fast and doing very well.

  • I loved that moment with Abi at the middle-end, after you show her the cubs. It's almost as if a spark happened, and she really started to show how much she trusted or "thanked" you for not hurting her babies. I wonder if she'll be even "nicer" to you from now on after that.

So that makes their mentality easily tamed. The history of the cheetah and man goes way back centuries... The Egyptians owned them as breeders, hunters, and pets. • @@CheetahWhisperer , I've seen captive cheetah cubs paired with puppies, as a means of giving them a soothing friend. If the cheetah's pupper isn't spooked by whatever new situation they find themselves facing, then the cheetah will be brave and go forward with their friend at their side. My house cat is the cheetah of the domestic kitty world. She is an Egyptian Mau, a breed that has been clocked at running over 48km per hour. I didn't buy her, I'm a cat rescuer. She came to me through my cousin, who owns a curly horse ranch. She was given a kitten to have as a mouser in her barn. Her first winter there, Chewie slipped on some ice, and slid under a horses hoof just as said horse was stepping back. Chewie's leg was snapped in two. My cousin was unwilling to risk Chewie's life on her ability to outrun any coyotes, foxes, cougars etc, so now she runs through my apartment at 48 klicks per hour. Egyptian Mau's also have the same loose belly skin as cheetah's have, to allow them to elongate their stride for more speed and therefore, more ground covered whilst running. I find this interesting, I hope someone else will too. Thank you for helping to keep this species alive for their own sake.

  • I think my most memorable experience with being allowed near newborn little animals under the parent's watchful gaze was with a hummingbird family. My childhood home had small orchard which would change through many colours as seasons went by, and I would bring bird feeders and clean the little drinking fountains. A couple of hummingbirds decided that they liked me, I think, and they nested on a branch right beside my bedroom's window. As I grew up I learnt that they are fiercely territorial animals, but they didn't seem to mind my presence at all. They would perch on me sometimes, and their chicks learnt from them. They would often lick my arms for some reason, when I was refiling their water. "I'm not a flower!" I would giggle at them.
