The only one standing out was #3. She gave her performance of the song energy and showcased her vocal abilities as a singer in a way that fitted the song well. It's not my kind of music and the general mood is somewhat melancholic, potentially into sadness and so the risk is to keep stuck in one octave of vocal range - not impressive. This is to some extent what the others did.
The vocal range James’ puts into his songs lends itself to many a singer to cover. I think Recovery was the best one here. Lovely to see James feature in this vid too 😍

It’s no insult to any of these artists but none of these covers are even close to James version but it’s not their fault. James Arthur is in a league of his own and no one can match his vocals and emotion

I whole-heartedly agree James Arthur's songs are SUPERB. But respectfully, IMHO, a contestant is either really courageous, or really crazy to cover James Arthur. This video makes me wonder: ~ How would a contestant know the audience was cheering their performance... OR... the song? ~ Of ALL singers, of ALL their options, why would any contestant want their voice to be compared to the breathtaking voice of the incomparable James Arthur? He is truly THE Vocal Master Class; the most gifted male vocalist of this generation. Bar none. And so... tho they didn't sound bad, they COULD have sounded so much better covering songs of a "lesser" artist/singer. THEN, they would stand at least A CHANCE of sounding at least AS GOOD AS (& in some cases, perhaps even BETTER THAN) the original. But when covering a James Arthur song, that's NEVER going to happen. EVER.🙏♥️🇺🇲✌
