Wembley Stadium, London.
FA cup final: Liverpool versus Leeds. Various shots crowds in grand stands. C/U of two teams walking onto pitch. C/U referee Bill Clements. Kick off. Various shots of football match. M/S Queen Elizabeth II and Duke of Edinburgh (Prince Philip) in Royal Box.
More shots match. Collins of Liverpool fouls Byrne. Medics attend to Byrne who has injured shoulder. Slow motion shots of near miss from Liverpool and Leeds corner. Leeds goalie Sprake makes good save.
Various shots Royal Marines marching band on pitch at half time. More shots match, Sprake makes more good saves. Roger Hunt scores for Liverpool in extra time and crowd goes wild. Bremner then equalises for Leeds. St. John scores for Liverpool.
Final whistle goes, Liverpool players and fans celebrate. The score is 2-1 to Liverpool. Skipper Ron Yeats collects cup from Queen. Liverpool goes on lap of honour around pitch. C/U press. M/S team posing with cup.
Leeds players include: Hunter, Byrne, Paul Reaney, Gary Sprake, Billy Bremner.
Liverpool team includes: Collins, St. John, Thompson, Roger Hunt, Geoff Strong, Ron Yeats.

  • Leeds were in a lot of finals, European & domestic but only won it in 1972. A great team that just didn't get their desserts. Liverpool were on the uppers with Shankly & we all know where Liverpool ended up in football infamy...😊

  • When British clubs were British. I say British and not English because there were great players from all the home nations, Scotland particularly. The influx of foreigners has improved the quality of the game but league football has lost its identity.
