I originally said "Love this budget level backlit keyboard - though there are a few minor quirks you should be aware of." but my new opinion is no one should buy this cheap rubbish. It's poorly manufactured, impossible to maintain (eg. the faceplate is sticky-glued on) and people are complaining about faults.
I would not recommend this watered down gaming keyboard. Either spend more money for a quality product, or save more money and get a dirt cheap but reliable keyboard that has the common but tried and true rubber buttons under the keys, like this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compute...

I go into even MORE of the problems here! kzhead.info/sun/rMaBn86RhmaZrX0/bejne.html
Best review ever! I was looking for a flat laptop-like keyboard and it seemed just what I was looking for but, thanks to you I am giving up on it. All the small details you mentioned are particularly things that I avoid when comes to daily usage of a PC keyboard. Thank you so much.
You're welcome, glad this is still warning people away years later :) the video I linked to in the description goes into more of the problems.
You can try the Cherry DW 9100 Slim or Cherry KC 6000 or K100 Corsair. I still use my old Dinovo Edge
Thanks for the review. I love my scissor keyboards but they are so hard to find. I've been thinking about replacing my Cougar 200K as I do have the the CTRL key pop off now and again during gaming. Not a fan of the chiclet style keys though might have to wait for the next version
Dave Downing I'm a fan of the scissor style keys too. I can type faster with them than standard ones, although I can tell the clicky ones would be better still, but this is a nice middle ground for the price (and not as noisy).
Best Review so far for this Keyboard that I have found on KZhead, Thanks
Bioware 67 thank you :) BUT! Please follow the link in the description to my follow up video! I actually hate this keyboard now!
@@Domarius64 Thanks I watched it, but no performance issue so far?
Love this video, great content and honest. exactly what I was looking for. I wish more people like you could get more recognition setting you aside from all the shitty video out there.
Thanks man, I really appreciate it. Make sure you check the follow up video - I don't recommend this keyboard!
Why haven't I seen this keyboard before? Great video by the way.
Thanks! It was a great find when I was looking at options. Very much a nice halfway between a normal keyboard and a full blown expensive gaming keyboard.
this is what we called honest review..
The fading key caps sorta phased me out after a while. I pulled out my old Razer Deathstalker 2015 (the green backlit one) and began using it again. It sorta lacks a sense of touch and is a big gaming board. The fundamental lack of seeing the keys as I rest my hands in front of the Cougar Vantage that made me return to the Razer board.
I just got this keyboard , me and a friend watched this because we saw this same exact keyboard online and we wanted it be t couldn't jump to action , so we watched this and it was what I wanted
Just be warned it has issues, see the link to the updated video in the description.
Have you heard of the Perixx 1900 by any chance? Its a scissor switch keyboard but has a high 3mm tall keycaps. Though when searching for scissor switch keyboards, it never appears unless you directly type Perixx 1900.
That's the first I've heard of it and I looked it up - it looks like a pretty good option!
you sound exactly like me, hates a loud clicky kb, prefers laptop super slim keys, love that rgb, never has trouble with scissor switches cause you bottom your keys (which most people even with mechanical do anyway which makes it louder) and are way to broke for the good sht (even though i would personally prefer to own this 1) xD the reason im watching this is cause i wanna buy 1 from umart really soon myself and if you decide you feel like your me... or im you i dunno. im 21 n on steam 24/7 so feel free to add lol
Awesome - I hope you got something out of the video, I covered the minor problems which the other videos don't cover, probably because they didn't use it for very long before making the video.
exactly my thought on all of them + the fact your another fellow aussie umart customer and youtuber such as myself xD
I'm totally with you. Quiet, laptop style, full sized - keys in proper place and config, pretty lights (with control over the zones if not individual keys if possible)... but what's the other option? I can't find any keyboards that fit all those criteria except Razer (and they have non-starter issues with theirs too).
@@Thegeekprofessor tesoro gram xs is the best you could get i would say
@@FalkyraXD Appreciate it, but seems they're not available anymore. All the new Teoros seem to be giant clickly mechanical style :(
damn.. almost bought this. haha.. thank you. there is philips brand at same price range
Well... thankyou. No video that I could find would leave it on a static colour for more than a fraction of a second. I just want a white backlit keyboard for nightshifts. Seeing the cutoff of the symbols when viewed at an angle is the nail in the coffin though. No way I could put up with that. It''s June 2020 and they're $55 at umart.
2 years later and the price hasn't dropped for this cheaply built thing? Geez... And happy to help. Figured if I got in when it was new I may as well be a guinea pig for everyone else.
I have the same kb. It is good, but not repair-frendly at all. Also my right arrow key broken (caps popped out) and I cannot fix it because there so tiny plastic legs which broke.
same
This is probably a stupid question. Does it feel like a mechanical keyboard or a membrane one? Or somewhere in between when you press it? I read it somewhere that it's a mechanical keyboard but a silent one.
Sorry I missed this! It's totally a membrane keyboard, no way is it mechanical. It feels exactly like a laptop keyboard.
Dude. I have the same keyboard and i love it. Its very quiet and compact. But the keyboard is new and i don't understand how to customize this when you press FN+7??? I don't understand that option. Pls tell me.
Press Fn plus any number will change the colour mode. It will remember it until it loses power. For desktops that should survive a shutdown I found.
Currently im using blackwidow,, but the clicky sounds is way too loud for me,, cuz i often play at midnight people might get disturbed by it,, im looking for decent lowprofile keyboard,, any other suggestion than this?
How about Razer Deathstalker Expert/Ultimate ? That's one of the best Scissors switch keyboard
Currently i got an annoying glitch where my "R","T","F","G","C" AND "V" keys Just stopped working plus the "7" Key occasionally glitching out even with cleaning any ideas of what could that be?
Sounds like one or more of the pins on its internal board is not making a good connection to the printed wires. Clean off the contacts where you can see the plastic sheets touching the row of pins on the internal board. If one of those pins isn't making a good connection, an entire row of keys will stop working.
Have you noticed the keyboard glitching out recently? When I plug in the Cougar Vantar into my Windows 10 MSI Stealth laptop, it starts randomly opening apps and eventually puts the computer to sleep. I even purchased a second keyboard thinking that the original keyboard was broken, but the moment I plugged in the second keyboard, it started doing the same exact thing. My other mechanical keyboards (AJAZZ) have no issues with my laptop, so I am forced to use loud mechanical keyboards until I can figure out why the Cougar keyboards are glitching out in Windows 10. Perhaps it has to do with Windows Update or drivers. I tried unplugging all of my USB devices & USB hubs and the keyboards still start typing random characters and opening apps (mainly because its pressing Function + F keys randomly). Let me know if this is also happening to you.
I have a follow up video where I'm a bit more disparaging, my new opinion is that this is a cheap keyboard and I'd say it's just bad manufacturing causing your glitches. Don't waste money on these! I'm going to update the video title to make my new opinion more clear.
so you can disable the lights right?
Yeah easy, just one key combo, but if you do - you won't be able to read the keys, because they're designed to be backlit. They will go dark and you won't be able to make them out. Even in the day - you can still kinda see them but it's harder than normal printed letters.
umm mine doesnt remember the custom colors i put in. its also in a always power usb(red usb) and still starts back to Rainbow.
Wow, maybe your particular motherboard cuts power to all the USBs after shutting down? I found mine remembered what mode I left it on, even after shutting down, so long as I didn't actually pull out the USB cable at any point. Maybe check if your motherboard has a BIOS setting to keep power on to the USBs after a shutdown? Worth a look...
Also make sure you check out the follow up video linked at the end, this keyboard has problems...

that's because the keyboard doesn't have a memory pattern unlike most RGB keyboards, whenever you shoot off your PC the keyboard just resets. it's even stated in the page iirc
I'm a fan of rgb but this keyboard over does it for me
Can someone who has already bought and used the keyboard tell me his opinion ? Are there any bugs, does it have big lifetime ?(I hope you've understood coz idk how to say it in english)
Mihail Andreev that's me, and yes there are a couple minor things you should be aware of. The CTRL key seems kinda unresponsive once in a while, I think it needs to be pressed evenly and firmly, not just on the corner. Also it's hard to make out the symbols on the top row of the numbers at the natural angle you sit at. This is covered in the video :) plus a few things I may have forgotten now, I recommend you watch!
I've watched.So,should I buy it ? Is it worth it ?
For me it is, it's what I want. It depends - if you want perfect response that a true mechanical clicky keyboard has and are willing to pay extra, then get one of those instead. If you want decent response and backlighting very cheaply, go wit this one.
ok ill buy a new one
Is there another keyboard like it that doesn't cost over $60
I don't know but certainly at the time when I bought it there wasn't.
Yo how is the description is literally hating the keyboard and your are just nitpicking in the video which you yourself dont mind the drawbacks in the end? Is there a serious concern not to buy it like keys not working after 1 years or so?
Yep I updated the title, and put a link to the next video in the description, check it out. That's where I cover my experience after a number of months.
How do you make it orange
I can't remember but it has a combo to cycle through the colour options. If it doesn't show up orange during that then it can't do it! Cheap RGB has trouble doing orange it seems.
Clint Hobson me and my brother have the same keyboard and his can go orange
PERFECT SIR! BRAZIL
Those wondering what this product is useful for.. 1. Classic laptop keyboard feel 2. Kids who dont want to get caught 3. Adults who dont want to get caught
With the disco mode disabled of course 😆
I buyed one of this for 30 Bucks Second hand with 1 month of use. U think i made a great Deal?
M make sure you check out my follow up video. Perhaps armed with the flaws I outline in these videos you could have talked the seller down, but I think you did alright :)
Clint Hobson in Brazil this keyboard costs 60 usd, soo 30 usd 50% is half of the price
M in that case you did really well! Nice :) yeah I'd be pretty happy with that - just keep it clean, you can't open it up to clean it like other keyboards if anything goes wrong!
Man, the keyboard is a quality product, you are just whining because you just can't type correclty, and the Keyboard doen't make sound, even when the keyboard is a membrane and not mecanic, so please, stop whining and tell everyone why the keyboard is good or bad not excuse yourself for not knowing how to type correctly.
Funny how I've been using keyboards since 1990 and this is the only one that I have trouble with.
@@Domarius64 because you don't know how to use it, it's a membrane keyboard and you have said it, you've used it for only 3 months, it's not that mucho to really adapt to something. Like a cellphone, to adapt to one you need at least half a year to start understanding how to use it correctly. For me this video is just a whining
@@rodrigoherrera476 If you bothered watching the actual video before commenting, you'd know I prefer membrane keyboards and type fastest on my laptop, a membrane keyboard.
Do yourselves a favour and dont buy this crappy keyboard!!! After less than an year the spacebar is barely working unless I press it really hard and exactly in the middle. Also, impossible to clean.
Yeah pretty much. I guess you get what you pay for though. I got a mechanical keyboard for a steal second hand, and haven't looked back!
