#ElectronicsCreators
Very thorough and professional as usual from SDG.
3 minutes in... Did they swap the brown/blue pair of the transformer?
Exactly my thought, the 10V unloaded, 8V loaded winding would be ideal for the logic supply (and probably reduce that quiescent current draw quite a bit) and the 14V winding could then power the heater... @SDG Would you be willing just to swap those? I mean, the unit is kinda useless like this anyways, worth a shot :D
Even if, this wouldn't equate to 80 Watts either.
@@marcus_w0 with 14v and 2.5 nominal resistance you get around 78w... So quite near
I will check it. Didn't even cross my mind!
@@sdgelectronics Especially if they have the same connector type that will be a very high probability.
i am really glad for your channel, because i am planning to buy a good soldering station. I think i will go for Aixun
Argh! What a bummer. I was hoping for an easy fix, because this looked like a nice piece of kit for the price.
Another follow up coming. It might have been assembled wrong
@@sdgelectronics I wonder if you tested it yet?
Good follow up. The pulse skipping even at max load is going to be necessary to allow a dead time when measuring the thermocouple. Maybe 90-95% would be the maximum. But they can just compensate for this easily by increasing transformer voltage.
I bought it and used it in the past two month. Very fast heating ( about 3 seconds) and measure input watts at about 60. I think you have a faulty unit or something happen during the disassemble and assemble.
Open your unit up and see if the blue and brown windings are plugged in the other way around!
@@ickipooBlue wire is for the 5v regulator as it is only 9vac. The brown wire ( middle position)is at 12vac .My incoming voltage at 215Vac ( backup power voltage). Maximum wattage for 245 probe is 42 watts. If I connected to my house 245vac, maximum wattage is 62 for the supply 245 tip.
@@user-ot1ji1we5t So yours does have the blue and brown in the opposite positions? I wonder how many units they shipped with the wrong configuration?
Fast heating but what about heating delivery? compared to the review of the last video when perform very poor on the coin test, yours perform better? the 245 cartridge are able to heat a medium ground plane?
You Right 👍
They swapped blue and brown windings. The brown wires look thicker and they should go to power the cartridge with the higher voltage. That is why you need different plugs for such things to make assembly idiot proof.
Good information for possible consumers, me included. It kind of begs the question, why would they send this unit to you for review...? Well, I'm assuming they did anyway. Thanks for the follow up...
Fast hätte ich mir die station gekauft. Danke das ich jetzt besser die finger von lasse 😁👍 aber welche ist gut und hat echte 80 watt. Man kann nichts mehr glauben bei den angeboten
SDG: I was wondering if that long rectangular component is it an optoisolator, or some other component required for detecting when the AC waveform crosses zero? It was in the previous video about this station. You didn’t know what it was.
Maybe the secondary windings are swapped ?
Is the used transformer configured for 240 volts connected to 120?
Hes in the uk, so i don’t think so.
I think brown and blue wire are wrong connected. Blue wire have low voltage and low amperage..that's why voltage drops so much. Switch them and test again!
If they swapped the secondary and you can get ~80w from this, then it may still be a fairly decent unit at the price point
a thousand clones from one barrel, as an example WEMON T31
That transformer doesn't appear to be large enough to supply 80W?
It only has to get the iron up to temperature, then it will throttle right back. If it can’t handle 80W continuous, it should have a thermal switch mounted to the transformer like a microwave. Or maybe they monitor & protect against it in software, but who knows if they do? I guess probably not.
Good job. These companies should have their feet held to the fire. It's simple, really: do what you claim. Swapping the wires shouldn't fix the problem due to the fact that the board obviously thinks its delivering 100%. Note that this comment was auto-deleted by youtube the first time, apparently because it contained the word "frodd" spelled correctly .
I often divide Chinese specs for everything by 2 upto 5 to get the real specs...
Except rechargeable batteries where the factor is more like 200 to 500.
Perfectly clear now, I'll stay well away from this company. Thanks Steve.
@sdgelectronics I think you may be right with itput together wrong. kzhead.info/sun/ftdqXcaxhqypgX0/bejne.html 5 seconds in you can see a disassembled unit with blue and brown the opposite way round.
Он тормоз... коричневая вторичная обмотка идет на питание нагревателя, синяя обмотка на питание логики.
80W transformer, splitting the load between the brown and blue loads? I.e. 40W each, with the brown only using a slight bit but the blue limited to their 40W? Much like how a lot of Chinese Li-Ion batteries claim mAH ratings which you'd assume to be at the higher voltage of the battery pack but it is really at the cell voltage, not the pack output. It's 80W, you just can't use it.
Very interesting, its just a shame that we can rely on manufacturers anymore for correct information. But I guess its like the CE mark Chinese Export, not certified safe or Europe. 🤣🤣
I guess that’s a big problem and it is a scam, however most stations like JBC don’t give you the full power anyway, normally around 60%
I was correct...
just goes to show that power out = power in - losses. but you have to remember that they are talking in Chinese Watts it's a common mistake to assume they are the same as ours. 🙂
Why the PCBWay promotion on screen in a video which doesn't even feature their products?
"All the truth in the face"!
Ktoś tu usuwa komentarze . Bardzo brzydko
And therein lies a fact.......don't waste your money on cheap [insert random name here] soldering irons if you can help it. The 80W's you thought you had will never be available.
Looks like they might have swapped the secondaries around, the trafo looks big enough… anyways, clearly QA is not good enough if they cannot spot this issue….
