  • As a dude in my late 40s, this makes me stand up in applause and smh at the same time. Ice Cube's artistic & mental genius crystallized in one interview.....explains all the success he'd go onto have (and still is having) in the entertainment industry. Smh because as a teen/young adult myself back then, this kind of Real Talk is what the masses needed to know about the society in which we live. Who knows how opinions and attitudes of those in the media/boardrooms/law enforcement/politics etc could have been changed or even prevented events to come by just Listening to a voice of relevance in the Black community.....from an intelligent perspective. I remember having to explain to my Sociology professor (who was from another country) how physical appearance is a major thing in American society. He asked how can this be true, because things should not be this way. I told him people here get jobs, attain wealth, get wives or husbands, run corporations, become famous based on the way they look----from the clothes they wear to an interview to the skin tone they happen to have----and this was back in 1993. So if I have to explain this to a paid teacher of young minds, obviously America could have benefited from an Ice Cube speaking the knowledge about why rap evolved into the style it did at the time or why the media assumed (and still assumes to this day to a certain extent) black culture is defined in a 7 second clip of a news story about who downtown got shot today by so-and-so and it's OUR fault for not raising that individual better. Stop that. Just like Cube said: we didn't come from Mars or Alpha Centari.......we were made right here in America. So stop running from the truth, listen to it, learn and grow. And just maybe we can 'make this land a better land than the world in which we live' (Pointer Sisters shout out) for generations to come......

The freedom of broadcasting content as you please is the epitomy of your very freedom, goddamnit. Don‘t you understand, that posting a comment publicly on a social media page IS creating medial content? YOU are „the media“ right now. YOU are proving the level of individual freedom by doing so. How can you not understand that? The stupidity of people is the real cancer. Have a good day.

    • @@studiofatal2023 The media as in the paid media, the press and commercial media. There's a difference between YOU and the media. We are not THE media, but we can use THE media to our advantage. Let it be social media or news media, whatever. There are different kinds of media. People can be a use a medium and create content on a media platform. However, you're not that very media, because you're human. SO before you say someone is stupid, ask them what they mean, instead of just assuming. Not to mention that most media platforms don't have total freedom of broadcasting content, or expression. And right now as I type this, I do not have all freedom of expression (YT policies and other regional policies).

      @Boromir_vlogs@Boromir_vlogs2 жыл бұрын
    • @@Boromir_vlogs You don't have all freedom of expression, because this is a corporate, commercial platform. You agreed on their terms of conditions. These terms of conditions apply to national or state laws, too. Nobody is free to say anything they want. Nowhere. And they shouldn't. There must be restrictions, if they weren't, even more people than now would cross lines. Think bullying or harassment. Or North Korea. My point being is, that some people mix up "freedom" with "I want to do whatever i want without being restricted". Societies don't work like that. If someone wants to be a reckless a**hole who doesn't agree on rules (constitution, laws, whatever) than why would the majority want to grant those egoists the same rights? We all need to understand our rights and duties better. "The Media" is just a very unprecise term for a construct that is very diverse. Of course some media outlets are way off (Think: Yellow Press, Breitbart, etc.) and yes, they need to be critisised. But the media's job is not to match everybody's beliefs or convictions. Their job is to report what's happening, and why it supports ... or threatens the society we live in. So, i stay by my point: People who blame "The Media" act stupid.

You don't get to the point of writing the words that are in music to that level, without being intelligent. It doesn't shock me that he's articulate and well-spoken. The Early 90's were a great time for rap and hip hop. A ton of growth came in those years.

And flat out walked away. Everybody know how smart Dr Dre is. But it even took him a lot longer to realize the same thing that cube seen early. How many young guys in the early twenties would leave such success behind, by two airplane tickets to New York for him and his man Sir jinks, rent out a hotel room ( in MANHATTAN $$$) for 30 days, then go find Chuck D, and the Bomb Squad, who reluctantly (because they didn't know if he was doing the right thing in leaving as successful a situation that he had been such an integral part of, And they ALSO, didn't want to be known as the REASON for Cubes decision) decided to produce AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted, what are the most critically financially acclaimed albums in hip hop history. It's a huge balls for a guy barely in his twenties to walk away from that situation and take his own destiny in his OWN HANDS! UTMOST respect for Ice Cube.

    • Okay. So let's see what you got as far as bars? Cuz unless you rap yourself or "Call yourself a rapper", as you put it, you probably shouldnt make such outlandishly specific and arrogantly unwarranted comments on topics and subjects you have no ability to speak or "rap" about. As a person who raps, I can personally state that I love a lot of Cube's work, but he's far from being seen as one of the only, one of the first, one of the best, or anything other than an ex member of N.W.A., Westside Connection, and one of the most influential hip hop artist ever to involve himself in this industry and artistic expression in general. But nobody has to ever know a thing about him, or even have heard about him, when it comes to being able to use their talented ability with music and lyrics, regardless of who that random KZhead comment thread troll believes is an obligatory prerequisite. I'd you dont know whats rap, you dont know much crap, so if you see something that's hot you should still know not to touch that, especially when it's a genre of expression that you suck at, you schmuck rat, nut sack, fuck ahat you just spat, and next time you wanna try and listen thinking "What's that?!", face your ass away and you're immune (a moon) like a butt crack, I dont have time to write a nine for nine kinda rhyme but I'm inclined to find a line to try designin a clutch track, and no matter what anyone wants to call it, or when they hear, feel they must act, shut your trap and open ears, quit fearing "ITS JUST RAP"
