Actually if you read Chris's lore he was a fighter pilot in the Airforce who was discharged and became a cop... that's how he flew a jet in this and in 6
Never knew that. Thanks for the fun fact
I was about to say Chris was in the air force.
A shame we never got him in an ace combat game
Which is weird because I doubt he was an officer and only officers in the Air Force, as far as I know anyway, fly aircraft.
@@Chris_MarMar small detail lol
I love code Veronica, but I never thought the dialogue could be worse then re1. Everytime Steve talks I die inside
How far voice acting has come since then.
@@registereduser Metal Gear Solid had incredible voice acting two years before CV.
Yea. Thankfully David hatyter wasn't a snake sandwich
Relax, beautiful! I *said* I was soar-y.
FAAAAAAAAAAAATHEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!
After the "Steve" incident, Chris's obsession of getting Claire hooked up with Leon seems much more reasonable honestly.
We must blend the bloodlines at all costs. The most suave bolder punching asshole child must be born.
Leon is with Ada
@@playerback7722 Tell that to Chris. Besides he's totally with Ashley.
@@playerback7722 After the liss of his men and the fake Ada mocking him, he probably had it in his head to get rid of both Adas to thin out Leon's chances.
The joke isn't funny.
I've never found there to be a funnier moment in all of Resident Evil than in Code Veronica during the first fight with Alexia where Wesker catches fire, tells Chris "You're one of my best men. You got this" and then fucks off.
It looked like Wesker and Alexia were going to fight.
@@A_KZhead_Commenter They actually did fight a little bit. If you look up the full scene, Alexia and Wesker trade blows, but once Wesker notices Chris there, he just leaves.
Amazing.
@@JesusRamirez-vs9bd yea, I think it was in an extended version of the game but I can’t completely remember. But there is a more full fleshed out fight between the two.
@@jasonrinehart8393 In the original release there is no fight between the two but the X version extended the scene to show the fight
29:36 - Wesker using Steve's body as a T-Veronica virus sample did eventually come into play. It's how Javier and Manuela were infected during the Darkside Chronicles.
wesker is black now
Manuela was cute.
Actually it was Umbrella who gave Javier T-Veronica. He was a repeat customers of BOW’s so they were willing to let him use it to try to save his wife and daughter. Alexia may have created it, but Umbrella owned it, and Alfred and Alexia were always loyal to Umbrella
To think Wesker goes into such a rage over Chris all because he laughed at the original Tyrant. Also surprised there was no mention of the final puzzle being a title drop.
Weird
wesker is black now
Was that in the first Resident Evil game or what? Cause I missed the part you mention about Chris laughing at the "original" Tyrant (who?).
@@Jamesfckoffscammers The PS1 version of the first game, close to the end. kzhead.info/sun/fddwj9urqX6jl4k/bejne.html
@@Jamesfckoffscammers have you played the original RE? Chris laughs at Wesker when he speaks about his plan and show the Tyrant. Fortunately, that terrible script has been reworked in the remake 😆
So you see, this game has character development. It's all about how Wesker tries to overcome his fear of fire. After Code Veronica he went to therapy, put sunscreen cream, went into gym and bought himself a epic coat.
He also watched The Matrix one too many times while doing those workouts
And then, ironically, died in a volcano.
@@chileshems88 yet, he wasn't afraid of it. That therapy did wonders.
"There are guns all over this room and Claire will take none of them but the stupid looking golden lugers." Finally someone said what I complained about years. Thank you. I get the survival horror aspect but all of those guns just sitting there and don't grab at least one. And also, Steve was underage while Claire was around 19 to 22.
They were Exposition guns, not well maintained and without the proper ammunition.
@@Talking_Ed Not that I play this style of game - for exactly how many ways the devs LIKE to find ways to needlessly fuck the player over - but as a "survival" game Claire's brother is a highly trained military style person. Being raised with him, she would - in the idoletry she shows for her elder sibling - probably have learned at least basic survivalism/weapon craft and maintenance. It wouldn't make her Linda Hamilton in T2, but it would probably give her the ability to maintain the guns to be "semi useable" and she'd likely be familiar enough with varied weapons from the romp through RE2 even without her brother's potential off-screen self defensive training (he's not going to want to leave her defenseless afterall, so even if she didn't seek it; he might have done it so she could deal with, you know... stalkers) So yes. They are likely for show more than actual hunting use, but that shouldn't have stopped them being useful in this case. Even if you'd have to worry about jams or misfires, anything you can use to stay alive in a situation where your life depends on it, will in aiming for realism, be used. Whether it's a good idea at all, very practical, or not. (Points for your name man. I like it : ) ) * I will say finding the right ammo for each potential new gun, might have presented the actual problem...
@@TheRavenShadowsWolf I mean, why use a gun from a museum when they all have good guns on them? Like it makes no sense, when you have no time to spare.
@@TheRavenShadowsWolf Ex Air Force and currently a Rescue team is probably what suggest them to not use weapons from an exposition so they don't have them explode in their face, and those weapons probably don't use the 9mm parabellum that they have on hand.
@King Tutt Without maintenance? 🤣
I believe Claire quotes Steve in RV2 when she gets a gun and says"It's more reliable than any person."
That’s what I was thinking.
EXACTLY!!
Everyone here is 100% correct
Wow, I remember some reviewers complaining at the time that the line was an example of Capcom trying too hard to make Claire cool and independent. Guess it shows how little of an impression that Steve had on a lot of people.
Huh? Code Veronica took place right after RE2, so how could Claire quote Steve of something, if she says it first?
The characterization alerts blare right at the start, really. Claire survives dozens of zombies, Birkin and Mr. X in Raccoon City, while also being able to rescue Sherry. Then Code Veronica starts, and in her first encounter with zombies, you'd think she's witnessing the most traumatic event of her life.
Well, at minimum she had a handgun and an ally in RE2. In CV at this point she has only a knife, which, ignoring gameplay aspects, no sane person is going to consider viable, and has no ally and is on an isolated island. And while adrenaline is a hell of a drug, some time has passed since Racoon City. I can certainly understand getting PTSD flashbacks from having to fight through an army of zombies again. Once she comes to terms with it she quickly starts snarking, and even dismisses the Tyrant as "just a giant cockroach that needed to be stepped on."
I think it was PTSD, that's why she reacted the way she did in the beginning. Afterwards, she acted more badass
@@kyuubinaruto17 she also makes fun of Alfred on numerous occasions
PTSD is a bitch
Sin 93: Probably because she wanted revenge for Claire and Steve causing her brother's death. Also the reason why Chris can fly jet is because he was former USAF pilot and got kicked out due to insubordination.
But how did she know they were responsible?
@@giovannirastrelli9821 Because they were the only alive ones at Antartica...?
@@giovannirastrelli9821 she didn't but all she did ordered that tenracle to attack and capture everyone not a zombie near the base
Chris has been with the Air Force before joining STARS, though. He probably can fly that jet.
Yeah was thinking that too. Chris was in the Air Force, before Barry recruit him for S.T.A.R.S
I was gonna say this but it also brings up another complaint. The Resident Evil tradition of characters being way too young for their qualifications. Chris is 25 in the 1st game. Given the length of ROTC or the Air Force Academy is 4 years and flight training is 2 years he maybe got his wings at 24. The kicker is length of service commitments for pilots are usually like a decade dude to the amount of money put into them. Guess the most likely workaround is him being a reservist.
Very few people in the Air Force are trained to fly anything. That's like saying everyone in the Army can operate a tank.
Chris was a fighter pilot in the Airforce. Sins are ok when you know the lore.
@@aaroncook2052 If memory serves, he resigned his commission due to conflict with superiors. they don't go into detail beyond that.
Dartigan's opening statements are some of the best honest reviews of games..
Absolutely
I think thats the least complained about and most agreed, most complaints are about the sins
That first sin is always.. *chefs kiss*
Chris was in the air force before STARS, so yes he knows how to fly a plane. I wish these writers would do their research.
Calm down, that info is old as hell and never really mentioned by any character, Chris might as well never been a pilot
If it's not in the game, it's fair to call it lame.
@@xxvaltielxx1789 not really old as hell when that info is in New games and the countless files books that come out with each game. Do you think people also don't know about Itchy Tasty? Or it was Leon's first day on the job?
@@xxvaltielxx1789sin 5 was literally just him complaining about it being hard
@@xxvaltielxx1789 a little research on the RE fandom page and you'll find it easily. Also it's mentioned in one of the old files in raccoon that Barry invited Chris to join STARS after he was discharged due to insubordination in the Air Force
23:34: C'mon, Dartigan. Wesker went to the island because it made sense to do so since the island is both an Umbrella property and it has links to the owners' own history and research for Umbrella.
To be fair, Wesker in Resi 5 was also merged with Uroboros when he fought Chris in the Volcano, making him a lot more resilient to damage and fire, even if heat was Uroboro's weakness ironically enough.
I love this game to death but yeah it really does have sooo many flaws lol I'd still love a Remake of it tho!
Same. It's a game I have urges to play from time to time.
Yesss
To be fair, A LOT of old video games are incredibly flawed...even treasured classics like "Silent Hill 2", "House of the Dead", and the very first "Resident Evil". Back in the day, nobody considered video games to be fine art so not a lot of effort was put into the writing or voice acting.
@@cartooncritique6625 oh of course, but this game has flaws that have nothing to with how old it is, one example being when you switch to Chris you can lock yourself out of having the Bowgun/Grenade Launcher by not leaving them in the item box when you play as Claire, something people wouldn't know to do there first playthrough, thus making it much more difficult of a game. Still, this is in my top 5 Resident Evil games ever, behind the original RE2 and original RE3, I like it so much I even learned how to Speedrun it and have been doing so for a couple years now
A group of developers is making a fan remake that looks exactly like RE2 remake graphics, camera and game play. It should be released on pc for free next year along with a full fan remake of RE1 that allows you to check out the police station before the outbreak. They both look amazing.
I badly want this to be remade. It's the one game that badly needs it. Especially for Steve
If they don't fuck this up like they did parts of 2's remake and the majority of 3's, then I can see myself buying it. Especially if they bring back Steve's Darkside Chronicles interpretation. And make him less of a pervert while making the romance more believable (like Leon/Ads in the remake).
@@Takejiro24 Part 2's remake is nearly flawless. Sure, the B scenario is a weaker than the original, but the original's wasn't amazing either.
@@okami7847 Sure, the original isn't exactly a masterpiece in either its storytelling or execution but....it was there and had fairly distinct plots depending on who you played as in what order. The remake could have revamped the scenarios to bring them to a higher standard.
I personally feel they already did, but with the A scenario.
Sin 106: Chris was in the Airforce, so I think he might know how to fly a jet. I'm shocked that there is only a few people who point this out and are buried to never be seen or argued by these "that's some old/obsolete/non-canon/obsure info. that doesn't count" or both. It pains me that this franchise puts so much into their lore that is ignored a majority of players.
When was that mentioned? I’m genuinely curious as I’ve only played Resident Evil 4, the remake of 2, Biohazard and Village.
I believe in the remake of the first Resident Evil, they did mention that the knife he uses is the one he uses since the Air Force. That implies that he can indeed fly a jet.
Re5’s file on Chris also mentions it. He retired after having issues with his superiors.
@@thomasraines1396 The instruction manual for the original classic Resident Evil on PS1 states that Chris was an Air Force pilot that was kicked out of the military.

You can knife everything in the game, apart from Alexia(can instakill you) and Nosferatu(can throw you off), with health glitch 😀

Dartigan's saying the knife is the most devistating weapon in the game: I see you too have mastered knife skipping.... Ah the good ol days
if they did remake it, they should use the book. its a great read, all of them are actually. the lady who wrote them did a pretty good job.
I loved their take on Nikolai going after the supervisors, and Ada's conflicted feelings about Leon. I don't have a problem with their OC Trent secretly helping the main characters so they'll take down Umbrella if they survive, but I do hate how hard everyone shills him. Everyone, from Ada to Wesker to Nikolai, talks about how unreadable he is. No one can figure him out.
S.D Perry did an amazing job with the books. She even wrote her own variants. Capcom would have done really well if they would have taken from her writing for any and all remakes they plan to do
@@jeremy6726 They kind of did play up the attraction between Claire and Leon a bit more in the RE2 Remake which was more in line with the City of the Dead book that S.D. Perry wrote.
@@thedarkvampress3833 yeah, you are right. They definitely added a bit more flirty aspects between those two. Atleast, until Leon meets Ada
@@jeremy6726 I loved seeing that added as I always liked the Cleon pairing. Capcom catering to its fans and knowing their pairing loves xD
POV: it's 2004 and you can't beat Alexia because you don't have the magnum because you left the fire extinguisher in the security box in the workroom on Rockfort Island
And your only clue that you should take this empty fire extinguisher out of there is that it didn't disappear out of your inventory once used, but who the hell who ever expect there to be a random fire extinguisher refuelling tank later on in the game?????
My little sister did this when we owned a Dreamcast and she asked in a panic where the fire extinguisher was and I said "you left it in the security box and u already on disc 2. " she did a long sigh and said "i didn't even save dat part and now I gotta start over...!!" 🤣🤣
14:24 Wesker must have been playing Symphony of the NIght, 'cause that's a crapload of afterimages for a simple jump
Your points for why Code Veronica shouldn't be remade seem more like reasons why it needs a remake.
Code veronica is by far the worst RE game
@@alexanderp8037 Resident Evil 6 is by far. Code Veronica is solid in its own right.
your issue about Wesker being afraid of fire when he's not in 5 is NOT a plot hole. In this game he is only infected with a mutated form of the T-virus. In 5 he infects himself with the Uroburos virus which makes him near invincible.
I actually played it, on the Dreamcast. Have you noticed how Chris is treated like this super important person but spends most of the time missing, captured, trapped or otherwise not in contact with the other important characters?
Oh, so literally Peach from the Mario games.
I noticed that and also in 5 Dunno if I'm missing something but they never really show Chris being this 'hero' or this super impressive guy much. Swear he gets his ass handed to him in every cutscene in 5 and the only time he does cool shit is in gameplay when YOU are doing the cool shit lmao
@@walter4180 It is a miracle in 5 he seems to communicate with the BSAA a tiny bit compared to other games, when I was playing Revelations I just kept going in the game wondering when he would return to base to report or something, shit kept dragging on.
-I like Steve - Claire references Steve's comment about how guns are "more reliable than any person is" in Revelations 2 (in an offhand comment to Moira). -Darkside Chronicles was hella underrated. -I never thought Alfred was gay. I took him for a crossdressing, effeminate man. -The Luger trap room has a heat mechanic, not gas. -Rodrigo's voice actor (and Alfred Ashford's) did a fantastic job (the former is well suited to the character, and the latter hams it up in the best way. -Claire is 19 in CV. If anyone's Jailbait, it's Steve (altho worldwide age of consent laws vary widely, so he may or may not ne considered underage). I actually like Steve, narmy voice acting and BAD writing and all. He's the first RE character to canonically be into Claire (whether that's a holdover from earlier plot concepts may never be known with certainty). -He saves her on multiple occasions, a few times to his own direct detriment. He even tells Claire to leave him and save herself instead at one point, and she decides to save him anyhow. He's a 17 yr old guy with untreated trauma, in a stressful situation, with a cute girl he wants to impress and get the attention of. Who slowly opens up to her as to "why' he thinks and behaves as he does (the writing doesn't help but i can work with what's there)
You make a TON of great points. Although it seems to make a heavy ton more of flaws in the end..
24:24 Chris was in the US air force before Stars so it can make sense
Biggest issues of CV was the needless game play changes, devs always think keeping it fresh or new means change things which just leads to brand identity issues If this game kept a more natural duo protag system as it had (aside from 3) , proper box system, and slowed combat back before 3 sped it all up, it would be fine Changing core systems doesn't keep it fresh, just makes a new audience like only that game and creates division (re,ac, gow, wd, dmc, ff, etc)
Changing core systems is also a great way to pull people in who might have ignored the series otherwise. You list, like, 4 perfect examples. RE4 was brilliant and nearly inarguably the best in the series, DMC3 built up the combat system from 1 into something grand by incorporating and improving the new tricks from DMC2 (and hell even DmC brought some good things to the table in terms of float time and level traversal), God of War (PS4) took a stale/mashy formula and turned it into something new and fun with more narrative Dad-of-Boy interaction, and... yeah Final Fantasy has been a mixed bag after 10, but 7R blended the classic ATB and new actiony style just about perfectly. Not sure if AC is for Armored Core or Assassin's Creed. I never played Assassin's Creed, but I did like the changes made up through Armored Core 4 at least. Not sure about WD either; I just think of Witch Doctor from Diablo 3.
@@SinHurr assassin's creed in this case

Datrigan seems to dislike games far more often than he actually likes them. I'm glad that he doesn't simply lap up everything given to him, but I honestly think he's far too harsh on a lot of games. Entertainment is entirely subjective, but I think the original Resident Evil 3 and Code Veronica are far better entries than he gives them credit for.
Tell me about it. I actually got angry at him for insulting the original re3 in his video for the remake.
@@ryankeith8742 I didn't like that either. Disregarding RE3 as "nothing but a quick, cash-grab spinoff of RE2", as well as his opinions on some of the other entries, really gave me the impression that Datrigan doesn't like the franchise very much. He only seems to praise games that he thinks are game-of-the-year material.
@@joshuanelson6795 That's not to say that CV is perfect. It does have it's fair share of issues, like constant backtracking, some bad line deliveries, especially from Steve, and if you're an idiot like a certain KZheadr, you can softlock yourself into a dead game. That aside, I understand people have fond memories of this game, and can look past the faults this game has. That's fine. Chris redfield was in the Air Force training academy and was trained to fly choppers and airplanes before joining S.T.A.R.S.. That’s how he knows Barry
To be fair, most people don't want RE games remade for the story/writing, as that's usually one of the weaker aspects. It's always been about the gameplay and atmosphere, which Capcom has nailed so well that a remake playing like the last 2 wouldn't be an issue.
Well, like the RE2 remake. The RE3 remake should be forgotten.
6:45 This is what you get when old men write what THEY THINK teenagers are like. 9:12 If they ever do remake this game, I hope they find someone who can mimic this guy's voice and laugh, because he's the perfect kind of over-the-top cheese to take the edge off all the horror and give this story a touch of camp...likewise I hope they didn't screw up Salazar, because he was also just the right amount of cheese. ^^

For the Steve boss fight, you need to use a quick turn around. Which can be activated by hitting down and run at the same time. It's probably one of the most useful abilities in all of traditional RE and all tank control games.
I believe Dino Crisis was the game that introduced the quick 180 turn
@@rdu239 Interesting, would make sense with the speed of the raptors. I thought it was RE3 honestly.
@@marbles8641 it's really weird to go back to the older games that don't have quick turn, don't like getting hit while i slowly revolve. it's been a while since i played, but i don't think steve managed to hit me after my first playthrough.
@@rdu239Man, I'd really like a remake of Dino Crisis.
1:00 that is literally what the recent RE remakes have done. It's not like it would be weird for them to do the very thing you're listing as a caveat. They've literally done it 2 times already and they're about to do it for a third time with RE4.
And they did it poorly, especially with Resident Evil "3".
Well, 3 times, soon to be 4 but I agree with sentiment.
Literally the only reason I could sanction an RE Code Veronica remake is to fix the character of Steve Burnside since his writing is extremely incompetent. It’s insulting that capcom couldn’t write a compelling teenage boy character.
They actually tried to do just that in Darkside Chronicles - he's still not great there, but sounds *way* less annoying and is actually tolerable in that game. He also had a fun line when Claire asked if he knew of any way to contact the outside world and he mentions a computer that the guards mostly used for gaming and porn (yes, really). I'll never forget that.
Ok…and RE2 and RE3 were also remade more than once and both of them were boiled down as well for their 2019 & 2020 remakes (RE2 taking out parts of the story, making the A & B scenarios almost the same game while also limiting Brian Irons character (literally took one of the most evil characters in the series, even more evil than Wesker and mad him into an asshole) & then in RE3 took out many monsters and locations). So it really isn’t like what you said hasn’t happened already. It’s more or so to change the game play and narrative into something more akin to the newer remakes and to fix issues with the characters. Honestly I feel they could tone down the acting, yet still have some silliness to it without betraying either the original or the line of the new remakes. I mean even RE4’s remake is getting shafted, especially that Ashley looks like grown up Sherry rather than the original Ashley (she had brown, amber, or hazel eyes in the original game and even in the CGI Netflix show from 2021 had the same color, but now they are blue, which is fucking stupid, because she looks like adult Sherry and she also look like every other character in the RE series). The new Remakes aren’t superior to the originals, mostly because they focus on graphics and such rather than keep the games similar to the originals and the stories with most of their plot points and characterizations. If any of the games should be remade, it’s Code Veronica, since it’s tonally different than the main like games and could be fixed with combining the more serious tone of the newer games while keeping the silly stuff at a minimum, since it’s not completely corny. And RE 7 & 8 are main number games and have nothing really in common with the original games. Honestly should have been made into a different series like DMC, since Shinji Mikami said that game didn’t fit the series when it was RE4, so I don’t see why Code Veronica is less an option than those. All in all, it’s not like it’s that different. It’s corny in places, but if they made the humor similar to the RE2 & 3 remakes, it honestly wouldn’t be that hard and likely would be a better game for it. Even Outbreak hasn’t gotten a remake/updated version (which is hard, no lie), even though they want a online game and that one is well liked. They honestly could make it similar to ObsCure (2004), which has it where you can play as certain characters and can change them. They even have building mechanics like Dead Rising, so if they updated it like that with modern controls and different endings, I bet that could even rival new online horror games. They could even buy the rights to ObsCure to make an updated series and such; people love it and I think it’s up their alley. Capcom has a lot of games people want and honestly would rather put effort in to RE games that aren’t even RE, so why would Code Veronica be any different? At least it’s similar to the originals, unlike 7 & 8.
@Adam Moberly: Your book is now on Amazon by the way 😊😃
Who cares if they changed the color of her eyes though lol
Yes! I remember playing through this with a friend on his Dreamcast not long after release.
12:55: It could have acted as a safety lock, which is common in Resident Evil games where Capcom prides itself on mixing survival horror with puzzle solving in their most accomplished franchise.
I like Code Veronica, saw a Let's Play many times but have no means of playing it myself. The game has its flaws, yeah, but it still has its charme. Would love to see a Remake of the game. Also, I really like Steve. Idk, I just do & found his character quite.. Endearing, you could say. I honestly was saddened by his demise (lowkey still hope he'll somehow makes a re-appearance even though it's very unlikely). Besides that, another nice video 👍
10:28 through to 10:46... So many times my friends and i would laugh at how terrible that was. I am so glad you commented on it because that laugh was more horrifying than most of the creatures. Lol
17:53 sin 67 also also, Alfred did NOT activated the Self Destruct system, it was Wesker Alfred released the Tyrant believing it was Claire and Steve working with a third party person they do not show you this or even say it in dialogue because they didn't think the players were stupid enough to question it, as Alfred escaping his room and the self destruct system activating happened almost simultanously, it would make no sense that he was the one to activate it
I love these, esp on Resident evil LOOL My memory banished any recollection of code veronica, thank you Dartigan for bringing these wonderfully terrible memories back LOL
You know, people seem to think that it was RE5 when Chris became a steroid abusing boulder punching giga chad. But it all started kinda with this game. I'm guessing that whoever designed Chris in RE5 based him on the official comic book adaptation of Code Veronica instead of anything from the games.
Technically his roiding started BECAUSE of this game. Chris started roiding out because of the absolute ass-thrashing Wesker gave him. He figured the only way to even remotely stand a chance against Wesker as a regular human was to push himself to his limits. Obviously 5 goes overboard with that by having literally punch boulders, but y'know.
@@loli-knightxardej2252 In the comic he was already roided out. Read it. It's dumb fun.
10:23: I have a reason as to how Claire sensed Alfred had his sights on her: instinct. Claire is a survivor of the Racoon City outbreak, so that kind of experience would leave someone like her to develop a sixth sense since she was in an environment that was overtly hostile to her before.
Dartigan twitch fans have waited so long for this sin video omg
11:31 HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA, i didn't expect any jabs at DM's here
If you haven’t played this game, don’t let this video stop you. It is a great game, memorable, fun to replay and has best soundtrack, Ashford theme, Tyrant theme and Alexia’s final boss music. I’ve literally beaten this game 10 times and was lucky enough to play on Dreamcast back in 2000!
My second favorite in the series behind 2 (1998).
Good game but horrific voice acting by Steve and he was very unlikable
@@Lebanese55 yeah, but this is Resident Evil we're talking about. The first game had some of the most abysmal voice acting. I've come to love it.
@@harrydaniells5359 that it is true …
It was a good time but I can’t bring myself to replay it I prefer just playing resident evil 2 more especially with how they handled Steve it isn’t the best game ever
Nice one mate!
Great video as always Dart. Btw can you sin the older assassins creed games since they are the only ones in the series you haven't sinned yet
I don't get why Claire says: "So there isn't an Alexia after all." She saw the movie with the two kids side by side.
As much as I love CV after LEARNING THE GAME AND KNOWING WHAT TO DO, the first 10 hours or so were so frustrating with all these fucking softlocks and backtracking.
I like Code Veronica and I like Dartigan. Great sins, especially school shooter Steve :)
Surprising you mention Dino Crisis - I did play the 2nd game shortly after release and actually enjoyed the more action packed gameplay of it quite a bit at the time, getting my hands on the first game a couple years later in a garage sale (god remember when that was a thing?) and also loving it. While I would _love_ to see remakes of those games, I can understand Dartigans reservations completely. the RE2 and RE3make show that remakes tend to strip out things that are seen as clutter or "unfitting in our time", which is a problem in and of itself, as the *entire experience* is what makes those games memorable, good and bad bits alike. Seeing how the Threemake gutted 1/3 of the content for the sake of a shinier platter, with Nemesis as a pursuer that was relegated to a handful of scripted chases, I wouldn't hope out for those remakes getting anything but the gameplay right.
This game should play "sweet home alabama" at every Alfred and Alexia scene. There's the hint to the modders.
I’ve played the game many times (I just beat it again a few months ago). There is some stupidly difficult stuff in it, but I LOVE it.
This is my fourth time watching this. That first sin… was so on point.
24:35 - Chris was in Air Force with Barry before joined S.T.A.R.S.
11:55 Play as Steve and run the uzi's completely out of ammo, and watch during the cutscene as Steve shoots them anyway.
Oh I've been looking forward to this one
After witnessing the wonderful mix of absurdity and cheesyness that is the original plot, I definitely want a remake!
27:30 Claire actually does mention Steve at the beginning of Rev 2. She makes a reference to his "a gun is more reliable than any person" line.
Chris is a former Air Force pilot before he joined the police. Flying that harrier would have been no problem and probably a fun trip down memory lane.
I really do hope they make a remake of Code Veronica and Outbreak 1&2. They way they handled Steve and Alfred may fly in 2000 but not today though, so they need to fix that if they're doing a remake of RECV.
Outbreak was a head of its time.
Steve you have a point with but Alfred the snowflakes can get their g string out of a bunch he's a fucking Norman Bates based character i don't care if generation triggered gets butt hurt at people laughing at drag queens. Not everybody is a liberal. And why not just have an Outbreak 3 rather than remakes what is it with you zoomers and remakes? They shouldn't even remake CV. OG RE fans can appreciate it. It's the Zturds that need everything remade and rebooted
@@northeastokwari1889 CV needs a remake because it's kinda bad, that's why
@@northeastokwari1889 I think your complaint about this generation is not relevant to this discussion and the reason why re2 and re3 needed remakes was because they aged like milk and so does code Veronica in this case.
That stupid respawn room filled with insects that infect you and take AGES to get removed. Worst design in RE history and makes me not return to this game.
HAHA this video was fantastic, especially since Code: Veronica is my favorite Resident Evil Game. Another huge thing that I always never understood is the fact that there is a 5 minute time limit for the self destruct at the end of the game, yet it takes like 10 minutes for Chris to fight Wesker. That is part of why I like the original dreamcast version better, because the Wesker scenes in the end don't exist. Chris defeats Alexia and gets on the plane to escape with Claire right away. Oh, and apparently Code: Veronica X is known as the Complete Version in Japan, so like... does that make the original Dreamcast version incomplete then?
15:20: It's to give the player the impression that Alfred and Alexia are in the same room TOGETHER. This is also to show players that Alexia did exist (to an extent).
Great stuffs. I still love this game though. Not Steve, but the game itself.
"The chances are high that you've found yourself begging for or expecting it to be remade" Nah, I'm mostly wishing that Resident Evil Outbreak got remade instead, tbh. Maybe Resident Evil Survivor and Dead Aim too, but only because I want to see how the community would react to those two games getting remade.
14:32: It's not exactly "incest" if all they're doing is looking at each other creepingly. Besides, this game is using the style of the "creepy twins" to further enhance the mystery of the story.
This was one sins review I’ve been waiting for. And honestly I am not disappointed. And I love Code Veronica. Edit: I’m sure everyone has their reasons of hating Steve Burnside as a character. My reason for hating him is because of his poor gun discipline. Cases and points: Steve points his guns at Claire’s general direction twice. The first moment was when he has the Golden Lugers where he literally points one of them at her with no trigger discipline whatsoever. The second is when he’s reloading the Uzi Submachine Guns when he should be doing that well away from her direction. Third is a bonus is when he tries to save Claire from being bitten/eaten from his zombified dad. He could have easily accidentally killed Claire when he was shooting his zombified dad since both Claire and zombified dad were in the same proximity of one another. But I guess the plot demanded that she stays alive due to main character status.
sin 1 is so spot on, code veronica is unecessary in the long run
Chris was in Air Force, I remember that was wrote in the game's manual of Resident Evil 1.
It’s actually available on ps4, and I wish they remade it to modern controls. Oh and the T-Veronica virus is also known as the « queen ant virus ». Alexia went into hibernation to adapt and to control all the other T-Veronica infected…
That opening statement is everything you need to know about the game. Never heard anything as correct as this
