Director Christopher Nolan and John David Washington share an exclusive behind the scenes look on #TENET
John David Washington is the new Protagonist in Christopher Nolan’s original sci-fi action spectacle “Tenet.”
Armed with only one word-Tenet-and fighting for the survival of the entire world, the Protagonist journeys through a twilight world of international espionage on a mission that will unfold in something beyond real time.
Not time travel. Inversion.
The international cast of “Tenet” also includes Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Martin Donovan, Fiona Dourif, Yuri Kolokolnikov, Himesh Patel, Clémence Poésy, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, with Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh.
Nolan wrote and directed the film, utilizing a mixture of IMAX® and 70mm film to bring the story to the screen. “Tenet” is produced by Emma Thomas and Nolan. Thomas Hayslip served as executive producer.
Nolan’s behind-the-scenes creative team included director of photography Hoyte van Hoytema, production designer Nathan Crowley, editor Jennifer Lame, costume designer Jeffrey Kurland, visual effects supervisor Andrew Jackson, and special effects supervisor Scott Fisher. The score is composed by Ludwig Göransson.
“Tenet” was filmed on location across seven countries.
Warner Bros. Pictures presents a Syncopy Production, a Film by Christopher Nolan, “Tenet.” Warner Bros. Pictures is distributing “Tenet” in theatres and IMAX worldwide and has slated the film for domestic release on September 3, 2020, and internationally beginning on August 26, 2020.
“Tenet” has been rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, some suggestive references and brief strong language.”

To the subject, which is discussed here. Tenet was simply poorly executed, as Nolan only took the standard 2-3 years to develop it, just all his other movies, while he should have taken much more time, in a similar was Cameron did with Avatar. Yes, the inversed time idea of Tenet is somewhat interesting, but the execution was absolutely terrible, rushed and unrefined. A simple obvious proof of this is how bad and acoustically incomprehensible many dialogues were - with a properly refined and non-rushed film this wouldn't be the case, not even close. Exactly the same applies to the whole plot and the overall execution of the film. If you love Nolan's films in general, and I loved all his previous films too, it shouldn't mean it has to be a blind love, because he clearly screwed up with Tenet. Try to respond in a civilized non-personal manner to show the depth of your "brain".

  • "The audience is always aware on some level, of the difference between things that are animated and something that has been photographed" That statement pretty much sums up Nolan's approach towards film making. He cares so much about uncorrupt cinematic experience, that he doesn't want to insult the intelligence of the audience. There might be lot of other directors who may wish to do this, but it is only Nolan who can pull this off. He commands that kind of respect from both audience and movie makers.

    @nyanko2077@nyanko20773 жыл бұрын
    • @Erwan Compes No. Fundamentally, this is a science fiction movie with a spy trope to give it some flavor.

      @nyanko2077@nyanko20773 жыл бұрын
    • @Erwan Compes Well, allow me to disagree in return. The main theme of the movie is the reversing of time, everything else is secondary. It could have been a romance, a super hero movie, a thriller, a horror movie. It wouldn't have changed the fact the fundamental notion given by the film is the possibility to reverse time. And this is in essence pure science fiction. The characters and their interactions are secondary compared to it.

      @nyanko2077@nyanko20773 жыл бұрын
    • @Erwan Compes I guess for you, Bladerunner for example is a detective noir movie, which is completely acceptable. And I think we will always disagree on this cause we don't use the same notions to define the genre of a movie. But it's all fine really :)
