The thing that always made Conor's trash talk so good, was that it is so natural and authentic. Then when other fighters try to take his schtick, it feels forced. This time with Conor, it didn't feel the same, like a fighter trying to copy himself.

I agree. I'm a big fan of his and I fear now more than ever that the Conor that we once knew no longer exists. I don't like pretending that I can read body language and stuff like that but I couldn't help but get the impression that this was an older, more mature Conor trying to convince himself that he's still the hungry and violent fighter that he once was back when fighting meant the world to him and when his livelihood was dependant on the outcome of his fights. This is no longer the case. Without a doubt he still loves fighting otherwise he wouldn't be in here anymore, but I don't think he has that switch anymore where he could go from being a regular nice guy to being that animal that legitimately wanted to hurt his opponents. Back then, that trash talk came out so naturally because it was in part authentic. He's not an actor, and I think that's why this whole press conference felt so off. I don't believe for a second that he dislikes Dustin.
Conor seems like he's trying to conjure up the spirit of who he used to be, before Khabib stole his soul and he went spiraling into a losing streak.
He seemed lost even in the khabib press conference, his energy was never the same. But yes, khabib did break him as well.
