  • Okay, I'll start by identifying that I'm an American who married a Brit and we live in the Midlands. When Harry first started appearing with Ms Markle at things, I vaguely recognised her from "Suits", but everyone here just wanted Harry to be happy. Nobody seemed to be saying anything negative here, either in the press or on TV or just gossip in the area where I live. Where I live, it's mostly positive about the Royals, and Harry had been put in good light for awhile as far as the public saw. When Megxit was announced, again, the general vibe was "what makes them happy". Maybe people felt a little confused about the idea of "part-time Royals", and the notion that the late Queen (I imagine gently but firmly) resisted that suggestion. And it was after that that gossip started that Meghan was being bullied by palace staff because of her being mixed race. My husband never accepted that. He said that the Queen dealt with people of all colours and creeds and nationalities and so on, and treated everyone, rich or financially struggling or in-between, with courtesy and good manners. This wasn't her "public face" while privately she (and others among the Royal family) might have had prejudice? Utter nonsense. These imagination starved gossips probably didn't even casually come face to face with even a fifth of the variety of races etc whom the Royals encounter regularly. Consider who she has guested in the Palace over the decades of her reign. It's honestly beneath just ignorance to pretend that the late Queen, the late Duke of Edinburgh, King Charles, or any of the current working Royals would enable staff to behave badly or disrespectfully to Meghan or anyone else in their circle. You are a lovely lady, Shauna. Hope you have a very happy Easter! Please get your boys their own chocolate (I approve you protecting your eggs though).

    • Thank you for that Nancy, we did want the best for Harry and his chosen love and were so pleased that she was of colour. Not one person, that I know, ever mentioned her skin tone, only her personality. My opinion is that MM was jealous, of the love that Harry had for Princes Catherine. I'm sick of hearing news out-let's talking about the brothers at war. It's one brother and his wife, at war with everyone, that stands in her way. She wants power and Dollars, at any cost. The children, will be next, she is a Narcissist and will always put herself before them.

A few hours later he pushed a note under my bedroom door. It was a ransom note, he had stolen my favourite barbie (ballerina barbie, she had a beautiful tutu & a crown). He demanded I give him my pocket money or “Barbie would get it”. I refused, about 20 minutes later he called me outside, he had made a noose & hung Barbie from the garage roof. I just laughed it off & went back inside. A while later I heard a bang & went outside, he had stuffed her with firecrackers & blown her head off. I was the youngest homeowner in my neighborhood for many years. We would rake leaves, leave May Day bouquets on the doorknobs of everyone, making special gifts and expressions of love. The children and I forged the most precious friendships. I see my “children” occasionally, it makes me feel so good that they always greet me with the most delicious hugs and enthusiasm having run into me. Is she seriously taking fashion inspiration from Hilary? Or is Rachel trying to ingratiate herself to Hilary? And if so, why?? I have read numerous times in the past about the York sisters' (and their mother's) jealousy, disdain & catty treatment of Princess Catherine. All seemingly stemming from the fact that Catherine was above them in the royal hierarchy and therefore they had to curtsy to her even though they themselves were born princesses and she a lowly commoner. Apparently they also hated all the media attention she received and that's why they would always wear those ridiculous hats to events. To ensure they got more coverage & photos in magazines and in turn, Catherine less. I doubt William was ignorant to it all then, nor forgets it now.

But I remember the overall reaction to Meghan and Harry being positive for quite a long time. Harry was always popular (despite a few missteps) and people were happy he'd found someone. Even leaving the Royals for the US had as much sympathy as suspicion. It was only when the endless PR campaign never seemed to stop (as parodied by South Park), the media tactics were just so blatant and see-through, including mentioning the Royal Family every other week.

  • 80s/90s - it was packs of photographers, crowded around the girlfriends/fiancées in the UK, shouting at the women, blocking their cars, in essence, assault. HRH Catherine, Princess of Wales, withstood less, but was still fairly badly harassed - in print as well: Waity Katie. Rachel had NONE of that because she was old (not some 19 or 20 yo), divorced, American, and not particularly interesting - think about it: mid-30s actress, no real acting resume, headed for permanent shelving due to aging out (because there's always a bazillion ACTUAL 20-somethings waiting in the wings who will work cheap to get that break), AND Henry had dated around, was old, and THE SPARE. Plus the World had HRH Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. And like Mary Poppins, she was practically perfect in every way. The world may have been intrigued as to what Henry was thinking, rushing into marriage with a divorced American actress, but they were past their prime. And just not that much of a story. Perhaps had they done this in their 20s, it would have generated more interest. But likely not; Rachel has always giving off that "smug b*tch" vibe, and that puts people off pretty quickly. Had she not had the "novelty" of being bi-racial, she might have seen a lot more negativity from the very beginning. And it is unlikely Henry would have received permission to marry - there were sufficient red flags to warrant a "no". So let them say they were hounded...they are legends in their own minds only. The World knows the truth.

    • Catherine was really hounded. They used to wait for her to leave her apartment and their were swarms of them all yelling out to her and saying awful things to try and get a rise out of her. I remember they'd also swarm Catherine and Pippa late at night when they were coming home from the nightclub. One video comes to mind because Catherine wouldn't remove her hand from over her face and she was pleading with them to leave her alone, she sounded terrified. There's also one video where she's walking through the airport with her father and Pippa and they are calling her a whore and saying awful things to get her to look in their direction so they could get their shot. I can't imagine how hard it would have been for her father not to say something to defend her. It was just awful. Rachel wishes she received that kind of attention. That's what she wanted so she'd look popular, she has zero idea what it's like to be hounded in that way.

  • I'm not a Christian, born into another faith. But born in the UK, love doing traditional things, like making a lamb roast, turkey at Christmas, home looks like Grotto. Always buy the expensive chocolate eggs after Easter, when they've been reduced. There's always a biblical film on, tear up, when Jesus is dragging his cross on his back. So traditional, without the faith.

He wanted to be "Defender of Faiths". I think that is fine as long as those other faiths do not overpower the faith of the host Country. There is room for everyone. Everything in moderation.

  • I read (somewhere) when Catherine married William, the York girls ran to Granny (the Queen) to demand that Catherine curtesy to them. The Queen confirmed this as proper hierarchy however if William was present the girls would need to curtesy to William and Catherine. So, W&C combatted the jealous duo by William always escorting Catherine, and Catherine maintaining her own counsel and not joining the Yorks by herself. When I heard this story, I thought big mistake princesses, Catherine will outrank you and the born princesses will be less and less important as time moves on. P.S.- I always notice Eugenia’s body language around Catherine, I think it’s very transparent that she is still jealous of Catherine and feels negatively toward the future Queen. Beatrice seems to be better at hiding her feelings or is growing up! Just my opinion, Beatrice’s husband Edo has done wonders for her image, style and maturity.

Eugenie very pointedly ignored Catherine but spoke to William who obviously saw the slight. Eugenie embarrassed herself that night in front of everyone. I think she has continued to attend those Carols evenings, which shows that Catherine is the bigger person.

Never knew what their horticultural name was. I look at these modern housing developments and I feel sad that there is so often not even room for a tree to grow or even one left behind after clearing. The children living in these areas will never know the trepidation and exhilaration of climbing a mighty oak.

  • My parents owned a restaurant in Connaught Street, London, in the sixties. The Singing Chef. My Dad sang and played guitar after he finished cooking. Fanny and Johnnie Cradock used to visit regularly and got on very well with my parents. I sometimes escaped into the restaurant when I started crawling and would investigate ladies' handbags if they were under the table. Fanny used to bring a handbag and a clutch. The handbag, containing odd bits and empty cotton reels, went on the floor under the table. Whilst the clutch, containing personal items, makeup, perfume, etc, was placed on the table beside her. Dad wrote a lovely obituary for her when she died after seeing some reports that were very derogatory.

  • My ‘rebranding’ for Megsy’s new venture is AROgant. Fitting, don’t you think? Also how many damn ‘olive branch’ claims are we going to hear about from deluded journalists that are debunked the next day? My goodness. Why does everyone want William to forgive and forget? I say, forget it! Sometimes you just need to draw a line in the sand and cut out toxic people you can no longer trust, even if that’s family. Is that sad? Of course, but that’s life and if you want a happy one, you don’t keep allowing people to hurt and betray you. All these goody two shoes journalists have clearly never had to deal with malignant narcissists before, obviously. Good gossip about the York girls. I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Just look at their parents. That snippet you spilled makes them sound like Cinderella’s stepsisters who were jealous of their more attractive rival. (Okay, that really was shady, but if the glass slipper doesn’t fit…)

However, the very fact that Eugenie was able to be friends with M, and for quite some time, tells me something quite significant about her that is not to her credit - if only, that she suffers from the same character judgement deficit/gullibility that both her parents do. To Beatrice I give the benefit of the doubt.

The next morning the little creature was no better, and hadn’t touched the food so she took it to the vet. The vet was surprised as it wasn’t the time of year for baby hedgehogs, but took a look anyway to see what sort of furry creature it was. He had to tell the lady that she had rescued a bobble off a woolly hat. 😂😂😂
