What would you say it's an average you spend on this project. Including the trailer?
Sweet!

Nice build. Really like what you did with the 1x4’s! Definitely a money saver!
Respect to whoever was behind the camera. Way above average standard.
Well now I KNOW my droid phone is listening to me. We watched a couple of DIY tear drop builds today and I remarked "I don't know why someone wouldn't just build a box on skids to slip into a 5x8 landscape trailer." I even looked up the Sure-Trac site and local dealer. Take a few hours for dinner, come back to the 'puter, and here you are! Nice idea and build!
Wow, that’s a heck of a story. Regardless of how you got here, thanks for joining us!
ooo a flip down table on the sides would be super handy for cooking and stuff
Very nice trailer. Looks so relaxing. I also built a low cost square drop olive green trailer military style with Pinto hitch. Built the frame and all from scratch which was fun. The cabin is a 5x8, but 6.5 x8 if axles length is added in for stability. It's a self sufficient unit with solar, 1500 watt invertor, shore power, generator electrical, and propane. If needed, it also has a small wood fire vented mini stove. Built in Interior lights with outside spot light controlled from inside due to spending lots of time in bear country. Made the door with a window, totally insulated with styrofoam. All the sliding opening windows, A small galley in the rear. It's also fairly high with lots of clearance with military trailer tires. Also put in little luxuries such as phone charge outlets, stereo, and two ways. All cooking is done outside though. Had lots of good knowledgeable help. Love going to places and looking at other trailers. It's like an idea factory. Also love the rear door on yours. The two main differences between yours and mine is the slight foot length inward angle at the rear for ditches etc but sadly, I used frame lag bolts instead of the cable idea which I like. Really nice build you did. Thank you for showing your build to us.
Camper terbaik yang pernah saya lihat.
Nice camper, leaving your trailer to having a duel purpose. I’m into everything except the entrances of climbing over steel side railing. Being a little older I’d need to build an attachable side step to enter safely. Great job👍
Ron Steitz, I was thinking the same. Being the fender is sticking out the side and the trailer is steel I would weld steps to make entry a lot easier.
you guys are the best. been looking for this kind of design. i think we are brothers from another mother. ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS. MY CONFIDENCE LEVEL IS COMPLETE
I like this far better than most teardrops. More room means not feeling like you're sleeping in a coffin.
AAA+++Bedford, Texas=====Great fabrication skills=====Thanks
Clean simple and well executed. I like that you didnt' go nuts with features and overload it. Great trailer choice.
Clean, simple and effective!! Love it.
Great video! Love how you built this camper.
This is too cool, congrats on the great build.
Thanks! We’re packing it up right now for the first camping trip coming soon.
@@LivingOurAmericanDream how cramped would it be for the kids to sleep short ways in the camper? I like the size of the 5x10, but want something that our family of 4 can use. How much bigger would a 6x10 feel on the road? We’d be pulling with a minivan.
This man has dialect in check. I'm from Michigan. Plenty of family in Dearborn area. I forget when I visit, no one thinks about stopping or slowing down for anything or anyone. Child sacrifice on Telegraph lane 3, everyone takes 1 and 2.
Great build and well thought out design. I love that it is removable from the trailer, too.
Terrific build, you did a great job.
Fantastic job guys. Enjoyed that.
Nice, simple design, & clean. Well executed!
Great build! You certainly have something there to be proud of. I like your simplicity in your choices in regard to amenities. My wife would love the color. She has an orange jeep and we can always find it in the parking lots.
Absolutely fabulous build thanks for sharing.
Love your shirt! I'm originally from Detroit. Grew up there then late 80s early 90s we moved north for obvious reasons and now I'm in the PNW but Michigan is still home.
Great build. You do good work. My only additions would have been a max air vent and A/C unit. Thanks for sharing the build.
Excellent build. It has been a thought of mine for a long time to have a trailer like yours with a slide in camper. I wondered about doors that make you climb over the trailer sides, you don't seem to have any difficulty. Yours is the first of this concept I have seen on KZhead, and exceptionally well done.
Lovely build! Great work.
Nice job! Really like the idea of a removable unit. Very nice👍
Beautiful built. Very practical
Very Creative, Very Clever, and looks Very Comfy Too! Awesome job to the both of you! I also think it’s pretty damn cool, that you decided to take it apon yourselves to actually take on constructing something like this , that not too many people out there are doing …So!.. “KEEP ON! KEEPIN ON”!
I really like the idea of the camper pod’s removable from the trailer!
Very slick, well done guys.
What a great Idea I like it. more room and multi purpose.
I like the simplicity and neat design. Building cabinets and adding a bunch of stuff just makes it harder to maintain and repair or upgrade. It's good. I like it.
You've done a great job with your camper. Looks very nice
This is what I've been looking for, thanks for the ideas.
Thats a sweet build. I like the height. Much nicer than most builds I seen on KZhead.
This is really well thought out and the most functional ones I've seen. Great job!!
Just came across your channel! Very cool trailer you made! Congrats on this amazing accomplishment :-) Really love the fact that you can take it off and use the trailer for other things!
Thanks for this. A realistic build, have fun
That’s awesome! Nice build man!
Well done! Looks and probably functions better than a new teardrop. I’m Impressed! Nothing like custom!
Nice design. Simple but very efficient.
Perfect! So well done - Thanks!
Nice looking camper. Love the design
Black and orange complements each other and looks great.
I love this build. Thanks for sharing.
That looks awesome . Hope you have many trips with it . We built a trailer just to carry all our camping gear and kayaks but you don't sleep in it . Also added a bike rack to the rear . Took it to Arizona and Utah in April . Had a great time . Good luck with yours .
Very nice build and idea for making it removable!
Thanks
Wow that’s awesome love the mattress then turn into couch that is slick I need one of those for the back of my pick up truck camper appreciate you sharing awesome job on the build I did it, I subscribed I’ll be watching for more super cool
Well done I really like your design on it.
Hi there, very nice build, clean & simple. As you mentioned somewhere, there are not many ideas reg removable 'pods' , I am looking forward to the loading- unloading video. Hopefully you'll get the chance to weight both the trailer and the pod.
Now that's smart, removable off trailer.
I like how you can take it off and put it back on so you can still use the trailer
Putting it on a prebuilt trailer makes the entire setup a hair heavier than it needs to be but I sort of like things being bulletproof. Mines solid. Good luck.
This is great. I want to build something like this but I want mine to be able to fit in back of my truck like a truck bed camper really cool
Really nice job, bro. Love the orange paint too. Looks pro!
Very creative, nicely done.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing, happy trails.
Very nice build to the both of you. Been looking to build my own for a couple of years now but wanting a good design to follow and so far yours is tops!
Thanks Mark. Good luck with yours…..it’s a fun project for sure.
Been thinking of doing something similar. This is very inspirational thanks!
Nice and simple good job , spend your money on enjoying it.
turned out great, smart idea to make it removable for sure.
Thanks
Very cool camper. Very well thought out.
Man that is such a great build. Good to see another Michigander on KZhead.
Thanks Hiker J!
Great build simple yet totally functional and looks very comfortable. A great platform for anyone to copy then modify to fit their personal needs.
Not gonna lie, I cribbed this design from another KZheadr. It’s a great way to get ideas. Thanks.
it looks great, I like the bed couch setup too and the headroom inside, plus 2 side doors
Very good build, thanks for the video.
Pretty slick. Simple too.
Nice camper pod, well done!
Before i even watched this video i had the same idea to get a trailer and put on a camperpod on top. Therefor i don't alter the trailer and it stays same for the technical control we have here in Belgium. Thanks for the awesome video. Happy camping
This is a neat package! I have considered doing something much like this. But a slightly different configuration. To gain additional interior room, I would bump out the sides a bit over the side top rails to extend the width to nearly the outside of the fenders. Then maybe add running boards to the sides of the trailer in front of and or behind the wheels for additional storage capacity of items which always seem to find themselves coming along and taking up space inside of the camper. Things like tools, shovels, axes, buckets, blocks, nicknacks or whatever.
The options are endless on a personal build like this. Sounds like yours will be a bit more in depth than mine. If you have a video series on it I’d love to follow along. Thanks for watching.
impressive build, good stuff, some one taught you great skills and you applied them in this build.
Great job, don't let anyone tell you different.
Gives me some really good ideas! But I would definitely go with an air conditioner, and larger windows. Much larger!
I'm glad you explained what you can do with the level. I was on the edge of my seat in suspense.
😂
Looks great. I've been working on one nearly identical with solar for power. I like the idea on securing to the trailer. I've been back and forth on the best way to do it myself and like what you've done.
I put quite a bit of thought into how I would attach to the trailer without doing permanent damage and without relying on the deck boards as they’re not really attached in a way to support a structure like this. The cables work great, are removable, and do absolutely not harm to the trailer. I’d recommend, but make sure you’re rigging up your cable hardware correctly or it won’t hold. Thanks!
Great vid, I like the simple design. I have almost the same trailer, so this would work pretty well for what I need - carrying a sunfish sailboat atop the camper.
Very cool excellent job!!! You should be very proud!!
Awesome build and video!
Thanks for showing us the inside
Impressive, MOST impressive…
Nice build ! I've been considering building one basically like it . Thank you much.✌
Nice video, your very talented man, your trailer looks great, works well for you!
Great build !!!
Beautiful,human creativity!
Excellent build 👍 Thank you for shearing 👍 Safe and happy travels 🙏❤️🙏 Love from Iceland 🇮🇸 🦋🦋🦋
Nice job on your camper build, I'm glad to see people starting to make campers that can come off the trailer. That's the way it should always have been for all campers. I liked your awnings and those doors you purchased.
We love this thing. About to road trip it to Florida behind the Jeep Wrangler. Stay tuned for that video in a month or so. If I did it again, I’d focus a little more on weight, reducing where possible. Not bad though. Thanks for joining us!
drill some holes in the floor and you could use it as a ice shanty to fish out of in the winter!
I love this build, I have been watching DIY overland builds for about a year now, and the modularity of this one is fantastic, and would eliminate the need for two trailers, two sets of trailer licenses etc. Great job!!!
Thanks Charlie, the trailer situation was the plan all along. Seems to work good. If I were to donut again I would pay closer attention to weight. Doesn’t matter for my rig but I can definitely see advantages to being lighter.
I really like you build. Thanks for sharing.
I've been thinking of doing one of these for a couple years now. Basically the same ideas you have for the most part. Thanks for the vid! I'm from Shelby twp MI.
It was a fun project, I would suggest giving it a go. Check out this latest video for cost and weight of mine: kzhead.info/sun/ZayGqNGJfZeYmoE/bejne.html
I have the same trailer and have been wanting to do something very similar! You just motivated me! Thanks!
Awesome! Good luck, glad I could inspire!
Your rock!!! This is the best concept I have seen. I will look more into this. I would like to build one myself, sky is the limit for customization.
Thanks for sharing and nice build!
Great idea... like the on.. off and still have a trailer for multi use... great work... Michigan here... i may have to build one myself... Happy cramping
Love this! Very inspiring!
Very interesting & informative! Enjoyed the video. May our Lord Jesus watch over you & your wife in all your travels. God bless!
Very nice! Great video! Great sleep pod!
Very nice job ,hope u have years of enjoyment from it nice build .
I've been wanting to do this with my trailer for a long time.
Very smart build.
Great camper build!
