I remember how I saw your day 13 comment, checked that you really started from 1, and then I decided to check on your progress from time to time, and didn't expect to get that far as we are now. since then, it has become a part of my life, a thought I always have at the back of my head to go and like your comments whenever I remember. your patience and determination still amaze me. out of 365 days you haven't skipped more than 30, I'm pretty sure. even after this time I haven't developed a habit and on average i remember about it once every 3-4 days. you've been doing "dnc until dmc6" for a year now, and show no signs of stopping. keep it up! we all will make it to dmc 6 one day or the other. also, I should say, @ethanol1235 , I don't remember when you got here exactly, but it was before day 200 if i remember correctly. the fact that you're here after 6 months tells me that you've also been following this comment section very persistently. that's great, don't forget about this, not until dmc6 is released! There are times where we see him being brutal and awesome as shit, fierce, but then we have his human side and feelings come out as we go through DMC3. Underneath the raw emotion of anger, disdain and apathy, there is a part of him that cares. Him being human and demon also fits as hes from 2 worlds, just as melodic death metal is a contradiction that blends well together. Subhuman makes zero sense. Its derogatory to say someone is subhuman, and meant to belittle them. Dante's bombastic as hell. Devil Trigger fit Nero perfectly lyrically and tonally since hes in the groove when fighting demons, Dante's should be more intense but not lacking any humanity at all. Subhumans a terrible song for Dante, V maybe since hes the human half of Vergil but Dante? Terrible choice.

For a man labeled wacky wahoo pizza guy, Dante’s theme has such sorrow in it. I look back on a lot of early 00’s edginess with greater appreciation now. After it was over I blew it off as a phase of teenage angst that happened to get popular but there’s something genuine about it that you can’t find much of anymore. Makes the song’s polyphony hit all the harder, I think.

Jokes aside, this is a REALLY underrated song. You see songs like Devil Trigger and Bury the Light (that are also godlike) using a lot of instruments and epic chants to craft an awesome song, but Devils Never Cry just hits different. It’s just the… emotions that are so raw and cool. And the song doesn’t even try to sound groovy like Devil Trigger but it does. It’s so simplistic, with just the regular instruments you see in a song as such: guitar, drums, bass, little midi modification and some good vocals and with that you get one of the best DMC songs. No sensory overload, no unnecessary sections, just emotion and some legendary lyrics.

The fact this song at a first glance is just seemingly some hard metal track for beating demon ass actually sums up Dante's duality of both a compassionate human that feels empathy and sadness who also possesses the blood and abilities of the violent opposite with both coming into harmony at the realization he isn't complete without both. mine is when he descended the tower. It was in that moment that he knew he needed to embrace the power. "Might controls everything, and without strength, you cannot protect anything. Let alone yourself." Dante is weaker because unlike Vergil, he didn't embrace his demon side since he hated his father. The thing about embracing his demon side is, the more he wants to be human, the stronger he gets from his demon side (this is actually confirmed in the lore). So when he started embracing his demon side, he became stronger and had a deeper understanding on what it feels like to use it righteously. "Why did my father give me the rebellion?" I believe Sparda gave them each the Yamato and the Rebellion is to balance each other out. So if one becomes too power hungry, one is to stop the other. If you would think about it, Rebellion is actually the more dangerous weapon. The sword is capable of absorbing other demons, it can drown out the humanity that is left in Dante. But since he became the good one, he had enough humanity to make sure he can control his demonic side. The Yamato on the other hand, though incapable of giving you demonic powers as much as you want, is a stronger weapon in general. It cuts through anything like jelly, even space-time itself. The blade is used to open hell gates in DMC 4. Vergil, like a real brother, gives him a lesson and learns from it thoughout the entire series. A simple quote to turn him into the hero we learn to love.

A really cool detail I noticed in this song is that the choir from 0:13 - 0:49 is actually singing Vergil's motif. That same melody can be heard right before the first fight with him and during the battle theme for the second and third fight.

There are times where we see him being brutal and awesome as shit, fierce, but then we have his human side and feelings come out as we go through DMC3. Underneath the raw emotion of anger, disdain and apathy, there is a part of him that cares. Him being human and demon also fits as hes from 2 worlds, just as melodic death metal is a contradiction that blends well together. Subhuman makes zero sense. Its derogatory to say someone is subhuman, and meant to belittle them. Dante's bombastic as hell. Devil Trigger fit Nero perfectly lyrically and tonally since hes in the groove when fighting demons, Dante's should be more intense but not lacking any humanity at all. Subhumans a terrible song for Dante, V maybe since hes the human half of Vergil but Dante? Terrible choice.
I wish they used some good ol' heavy metal ala-Judas Priest or Motorhead for Dante, perhaps some groove metal would work his smokin' sick style

For a man labeled wacky wahoo pizza guy, Dante’s theme has such sorrow in it. I look back on a lot of early 00’s edginess with greater appreciation now. After it was over I blew it off as a phase of teenage angst that happened to get popular but there’s something genuine about it that you can’t find much of anymore. Makes the song’s polyphony hit all the harder, I think.

I was young and now old And still same goosebumps when I listen to this and I remember all the moments that this game offered! Blessed for this era
Jokes aside, this is a REALLY underrated song. You see songs like Devil Trigger and Bury the Light (that are also godlike) using a lot of instruments and epic chants to craft an awesome song, but Devils Never Cry just hits different. It’s just the… emotions that are so raw and cool. And the song doesn’t even try to sound groovy like Devil Trigger but it does. It’s so simplistic, with just the regular instruments you see in a song as such: guitar, drums, bass, little midi modification and some good vocals and with that you get one of the best DMC songs. No sensory overload, no unnecessary sections, just emotion and some legendary lyrics.
TRUE honestly I prefer this much more than Devil Trigger/Bury the Light (still love them though)

I just bought DMC 1&2 I was 68cents off getting DMC 3
It would've been near impossible to take such a complex moveset and translate it to Smash without too many sacrifices to the feel of the original game. I was barely able to make a fan-made moveset for Doomguy and he's way less complicated.

This theme really fits Dante since he keeps continuing the words "Devils Never Cry". I like how this theme even represents in Marvel VS Capcom 3. Really fits Dante imo.
The fact this song at a first glance is just seemingly some hard metal track for beating demon ass actually sums up Dante's duality of both a compassionate human that feels empathy and sadness who also possesses the blood and abilities of the violent opposite with both coming into harmony at the realization he isn't complete without both. Dammit this is why I love DMC so much.

Forget the Vergil fights and everything. THIS moment when you're trying to kill 100 demons while this blasts in the background is the most epic part in the game for me!

mine is when he descended the tower. It was in that moment that he knew he needed to embrace the power. "Might controls everything, and without strength, you cannot protect anything. Let alone yourself." Dante is weaker because unlike Vergil, he didn't embrace his demon side since he hated his father. The thing about embracing his demon side is, the more he wants to be human, the stronger he gets from his demon side (this is actually confirmed in the lore). So when he started embracing his demon side, he became stronger and had a deeper understanding on what it feels like to use it righteously. "Why did my father give me the rebellion?" I believe Sparda gave them each the Yamato and the Rebellion is to balance each other out. So if one becomes too power hungry, one is to stop the other. If you would think about it, Rebellion is actually the more dangerous weapon. The sword is capable of absorbing other demons, it can drown out the humanity that is left in Dante. But since he became the good one, he had enough humanity to make sure he can control his demonic side. The Yamato on the other hand, though incapable of giving you demonic powers as much as you want, is a stronger weapon in general. It cuts through anything like jelly, even space-time itself. The blade is used to open hell gates in DMC 4. Vergil, like a real brother, gives him a lesson and learns from it thoughout the entire series. A simple quote to turn him into the hero we learn to love.

A really cool detail I noticed in this song is that the choir from 0:13 - 0:49 is actually singing Vergil's motif. That same melody can be heard right before the first fight with him and during the battle theme for the second and third fight.
a cool detail i found was that this song at 3:08 was remade and used in Bury the light. the part where he says "beyond the *tree* fire burns". you can even see how it aligns with this song's lyrics "bless me with the leaf off of a *tree".*
