I purchased a Ultra coming from the series 4. I honestly just purchased it because there were so many scratches on my series 4 screen. Got tired of looking at it. Ultra came out with that battery life, bigger screen and added durability. I love it even with its premium price tag. I know I’ll have this for over 4-5 years and ware it every day. Worth it to me.
For sure. I know I’ll have this at least 4 years unless something crazy happens to it. It’s pretty well future proofed.
Exactly the same position here
Same, came from s4 which rapidly deteriorated. The ultra is such a welcome needed upgrade even if the price is extortionate 😃
Nice!!
Do you use it to track your sleep? How comfortable is it for you?
I also upgraded from a series 4 to an ultra! I was on the fence, but now I love it so much. The new design, larger screen and battery life are amazing.
I definitely like the battery, larger screen, and brightness. Also, coming from 4, the always on display is nice. Can’t tell how much I actually need that feature though 🤷🏼♂️
@@SpencerScottPugh Yep! Always on display is great to have too!
@@SpencerScottPugh that was one thing I never liked about Apple Watch or smart watches in general. Is how the screen was always off and had to raise to wake to tap screen. It’s a watch it should tell time all the time. The always on is a nice touch
For sure. I guess I felt the same at first... maybe its because I wore one without an always on display for 7 years so i got used to raising the wrist or tapping the screen.
@@SpencerScottPugh yeah. I have the watch now and turned the alwYs on off too. Haha. But it sure is nice to have it there if I want it
Something I noticed from my 5 to Ultra is the smoothness of the UI. A lot of times moving through the watch there would be small hitches, things that didn't make it annoying, but noticeable. Like frame rate being lower just for a second. With the Ultra everything is smooth.
Interesting. Did you have a lot of apps installed? I never noticed any hiccups with the 4
The ultra is smoother than the 5 but I've found that the "portsbility" of the 5 can be worth the worse performance sometimes. Especially during sleeping/wearing long sleeves.
Did the same. Went from 5 to Ultra 2.
I haven’t worn a wrist watch in over 15 years and I just bought the Ultra. I’m like a little kid with a new toy.
WOW I envy your experience lol. ENJOY IT!
I came from the series 4 stainless steel and it held up great, screen had no scratches at all. I was going to replace it with the new SS8 but it is about the same price as the ultra so I hit the Ultra just for the battery life.
Went from a 38mm series 5 to an ultra and I love it. It takes me 2 1/2 days to charge it. Wanted to get a bigger face and I don’t know what I’ve been missing out. Gonna give my mom the series 5. Using it everyday makes the price tag okay. I could of kept using my series 5 but wanted to upgrade after 4 years
Nice! It’s a great device. The size upgrade must have been crazy!
I have two Apple Watches V6 and V4, and I swap between them when I one is running low on battery. I am very active and don’t have an issue with them. I am skipping the ultra til v2. Until then I am enjoying the seamless integration of my v4& & v6.
Interesting
All very good points and observations… I bought one and love the battery life and beautiful display and I’m impressed at how easy it was to adapt to the size and weight, neither of which made as much of a difference as I thought they would. I liked it immediately. The battery though… so nice to be able to go a couple of days without thinking about it!
yeah. battery is definitely the best feature
@@SpencerScottPugh maybe the best feature you use. But not in general. The things things this can do that the average person doesn’t need it for are still quite amazing. The scuba diving features and emergency satellite messaging significant technological advances.
Right! But again, this is from the average consumer’s standpoint
I chose my new Apple Watch Ultra for three health reasons, and two tech reasons (so far). I have extremely sensitive skin and have had rashy irritation with every smart watch so far, including Fitbit (whose features I loved.) My Ultra has titanium and I chose the woven cloth band - and it solved that issue for me. I still get a little redness from having it touch my wrist, but no rashes or irritation. I have some minor heart issues and sometimes run the ecg feature, and my cardiologist recently appreciated seeing that result. He said the Apple Watch Ultra is accurate. My third wellness help is tracking sleep stages, for my own information and improvement. My two tech bonuses are the sound quality for answering phone calls (like a Dick Tracy watch) and battery life. I usually get a solid three days of use, even with some moderate usage. 😊
I wet with the Alpine loop with my Ultra. I find the woven bands better.
Bummer!
Earned another sub. Good simple straightforward content, nice editing. I’m looking forward to getting caught up with your videos.
Awesome, thank you! I appreciate it!
Nice job on the honest simple and precise review
Thanks Saad!
Thanks for the video. I specifically was curious about going from series 4 to ultra. $800 is a huge chunk of $$ for a watch. My series 4 looks brand new. I've always had an otter box bumper case, but sometimes it irritates my wrist. So, I've been considering Ultra for that reason...but your insight has given me pause. Thanks!
I would suggest 1. selling the 4 on Mercari to get some money to put toward the Ultra, or 2. Take the case off the 4 and enjoy the slim design and run it into the ground and then upgrading. Taking the case off a device can feel like a brand new product!
👍 much appreciate your video. Same situation here, Series 4 and I am debating to get the Ultra or not. Your video makes me think more about getting the ultra, or not. I liked the video and I subscribed. Peace!
Thanks, Gerry!
It’s definitely the review that I need. Being tempted to upgrade from 40 mm 4 series, but as a guy with very small wrist, the size of the ultra seems way too enormous for me. And now I just make a change to my 4 series with the ultra look bumper and strap. And that’s it. My Garmin Approach S62 is still a best in terms of battery life. But I must say, the ultra is really tempting 😅
Is it gonna work with Android or not
Amazing video/perspective. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
I appreciate your simplistic honesty
I thought the Watch was going to be a total gimmick when it came out. I eventually got a Series 3 and have been wearing it daily for the past five years. I use so many of the features. It really surprised me just how useful it is. The Ultra is such a huge step up from the S3 that I don’t begrudge the price. I know I’ll get the use out of it and if I get five years service from it, it’ll be money well spent. Not to mention the extra features that’s aren’t on the S3.
Nice. Yeah apple tends to try and make convenient devices.
I appreciate your honesty, brother. I was going to buy it from series 4, my 4 still works and last the whole day, so decided to keep my older model
Glad I could help! Thanks for sharing!
I love your perspective view. Thanks
Thanks for watching 🤘
I have the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Really like it. I went with a flexible stretch watchband because it’s more comfortable on my wrist. But the bigger watch the bigger display. And the fact that it just looks really premium and rugged. Is a nice enough option and the battery life is phenomenal. It’s a great watch. Almost wonder why I have a cell phone. When my watch can do everything the phone does pretty much. I can do video on the iPad if that’s what people like to do.
I thought about getting rid of my phone for a month when I had the ultra... i think it could totally be done!
Great review, I love new tech. I currently have the aw5 cellular, which is dead handy. I don’t like buying the latest thing for the sake of it, to buy the new version of something it has to be a radical upgrade with useful differences that I would notice ( not just a slightly faster processor that makes it 1 second faster ). Is it wrong that I still want it :) ?
Haha nah it’s the apple sheep in you!
Yes!!!
Awesome unique perspective!!! Thank you
Thanks, Coach!
I also upgraded from a series 4 to an Ultra, though unfortunately I had to pay for it. But I’m more in the target group, because I do all-day hikes pretty often, and the series 4 was running out of battery. Also, the series 4 doesn’t have a compass, and the GPS is more accurate on the Ultra. And if I ever need it, the siren could be a life-saver.
Love this, Mike! Perfect use cases for the Ultra. Enjoy!
I do want to upgrade from the S4 to the Ultra mainly just to have my watch not be scratched up anymore, but I’m not stoked on the design honestly. I think I’d be better off saving the money and just getting the SE that just came out, I know the extra battery life would be nice but I just don’t think I’ll ever need it. I’ve barely ever let my S4 die in the years I’ve owned it.
Vay, good points. Really comes down to finances and being intentional with your decision making. New SE is still amazing. If you can save a little money and put it towards something else on your priority list, that would be my plan!
good stuff, I might go SE 2022, and keep my garmin on deck for major stuff
Ayyyy I think that’s a great idea
Thank you for your honest opinion! Reviews should be done by guys like you who keep their cool and not overexcited with emotion because they don't need to convince someone to buy something or justify their spendings. It helped me in making a decision!
I had a series 4, been using it for 3 years, was perfectly happy- I swore up and down I wouldn’t upgrade if the 8 looked same as the 7, was glad when I saw. Then the ultra dropped 😮, I dumped my 4 and purchased the ultra- best upgrade yet.
Nice! I still don’t think it was enough of a change. But glad you like the new design!
@@SpencerScottPugh I can see why, but I gave in to the upgrade itch. All good, gave the 4 to my son so it lives on for a few more years.
Nice!
I upgraded from a series 6. Only reason was because I crashed on my mtb and the watch was damaged pretty bad. Although the watch still worked fine, the chunks of paint and scratched screen looked terrible so I decided to upgrade. Hoping this one is more durable.
Sounds fair to me. you have a hobby that requires more rugged gear. and if its cracked your watch before i understand wanting one more durable. interested to see just how much more durable this thing is over previous models. Thanks Nate!
Elite desk worker here, been wearing the Ultra through the extreme conditions
😂😂😂
literally opening mine while watching 😂
hahaha after my own heart. Do we have a tech problem? I think maybe :P
As an iPhone 7 😮… yes 7 owner lol, is it worth purchasing the Ultra if I am unable to pair it with my iPhone 7 (or am I… ?) ? (I do a LOT outdoors/mountain/sea travel/hardcore fitness) so I can see the benefits to me with the Ultra. Thank u in advance.
I have no idea… however if you get a cellular plan with it… you won’t need your phone paired 🤷♂️
Fantastic perspective thank you!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I got the original series 3 cellular stainless Hermes version, because I liked the way stainless steel looked, and that I could occasionally change to the leather band. Until two years ago, I broke it just one week away from AppleCare expiring. So I was lucky to have it replaced for a small fee until two weeks ago, it broke it again exactly the same way, the front glass just came off. I wasn’t going to get the Hermes version this time, because it did nothing for me, I only used the stainless steel strap anyway, so I didn’t wanna spend extra money. But looking at the specs, the series 8 stainless steel was kind of a rip off given it hasn’t changed much for the past few years! So, in the end I went for the ultra and use the existing stainless steel band with it. It looks pretty good. Yes, it’s not as large as I expected it to be, even coming from the series 3. It doesn’t look like a toy, pretty rugged, and it still goes well with my dress shirts for work. Plus, it’s probably gonna last a lot longer than the series 8 stainless steel, given I have broken that twice exactly the same way. I only do some indoor cycling, so although it’s good to have, the outdoor fitness features is pretty much useless for me.
Nice! Interesting take!
I had the 5 gave it to my daughter, been waiting 5 wks for the ultra taking ages to arrive ,I’ve also got the Garmin fenix 6x sapphire which is great also can keep a charge for about a month crazy , thanks 🏴🙏
Dang that battery life tho! Hope your ultra arrives soon!
This was very helpful for me, because I am researching my first apple watch. I'm new to the Apple ecosystem.
Wow… a lot of awesome tech ahead of you then 😃😃😃
@@SpencerScottPugh I am learning. Bought a MacBook Pro in July, an iPad in February.
Nice 😍😍😍
Aye shoutout ROA. Been considering this watch and appreciate your perspective.
Nice!! So…. You getting one?
I don’t have an apple watch at all to begin with and I like the Ultra but I’m not sure yet. I think the battery life is why I want it as I dont like to be charging often but does anyone have thoughts on this? Or if I should wait until the next drop
If it makes sense for you financially, it’s a great smart watch. Arguably Apple’s best so far if you like the design. Battery life is great. You can get by just charging while you shower and it’ll last for days.
Wait!!!!!
I went from a 3 to a 7, and just today ordered the Ultra. Mostly because I wanted a cellular version watch and AT&T was offering $200 off and $125 trade in on my 7.
Woahhh good deal!
I was there. But few years ago i have stopped using Apple Watch (actually today i think that apple watch used me) and i have started using Garmin. And I still cant understand how i was able to wear "watch" that you should put it to charger almost 14 TIMES MORE (if my Garmin can hold for 2weeks, some versions even more).
Crazy! I am not in the market for a professional exercise watch though.
I just got an ultra for Xmas. Never had a smart watch never wanted one have no idea how to use it or what it can do I’ve had it 1 day (we had a late Xmas) and I freakin love it.
Ahhhh that’s so awesome!
Thanks for your great video. And it really helped me to figure out if I really need to upgrade to the ultra since I have been using the series 0 for almost 9 years now. But I truly need a little more "push" from that high-budget device upgrade. Since everyone says it is worth the upgrade I might consider upgrading lol
Glad I could help! I think going from series 0 to anything after the 4 would be a great upgrade!
Hey guys can your reccomend me which one should I get series 8 or the ultra the problem is that I want the band not to stick out and the series 8 is kinda sticking in at the band but the ultra looks like comes out sticky it or there a band for the ultra that have a hole that sticks in as the series 8?
I would recommend the ultra if you are thinking of choosing between the 8 and ultra. there are a few ultra bands to choose from and you can always buy a regular apple watch band as well. they still fit the ultra
@@SpencerScottPugh ohh so the series 8 bands still works with the ultra version.
Yeahp! Or any band back to series 4!
I still rock my series 4 !!! battery is the only issue had to charge her every night
cool video share . congrats on all the luck that got you to the Ultra. Like most of Apple products, they are a want not a need, but like most we all want one . I do a lot of activities with my watch from biking to running and weight training which uses battery , so my reason for purchase is longer battery. This was again a great share for the average joe who was looking at the watch and needed honesty . One question compared to the Series 7 which I have does it feel big on your wrist and is it comfortable on the wrist , especially if you sleep with it at night ?? Thanks, continued good health and luck in life ..
Thanks brother! Yeah, very comfortable. Don’t notice it while sleeping. Haven’t cut myself on the new sharp screen edges… yet 😂
@@SpencerScottPugh thanks for replying back , I probably won’t win a contest but maybe Santa 🎅🏾 will bring it to me for Christmas 🎁🤷🏽♂️ happy holidays 👍🏽👍🏽
Haha fingers crossed!!
I'm also coming from a S4. I just moved to an island and I decided to upgrade to the Ultra because of the diving activities here, let's see how it goes.
Ooooo that sounds awesome!!
The honesty 👍👌
Have the series 1, bought the series 8, debating on if I should just get the ultra instead 🤔
That would be my vote if it's in your budget!
I never wanted one but just picked this up yesterday to keep track of everything
Keep track health wise?
@@SpencerScottPugh yes sir, recently decided to do a complete career change from a truck driver to be a farmer so I can get off the road and be with my family more
@@KrakkenZero Well thats awesome and super admirable
I get minimalism is your whole thing so I didn’t expect you to say “yeah for sure, go pay double for your Apple Watch”. Gotta say though, as someone also coming from Series 4 - battery life and durability were constant, daily concerns for me. I was always paranoid about bumps and scratches and compulsively checking my battery life to make sure I’d make it through an outdoor run. Often ended up having to use reserve power mode by 8pm. The fact that I no longer have to even think about battery life OR durability makes it worth the money to me. I charge to 90% while winding down, sleep track all night, wake up, work out for an hour, work all day, and I’m rarely below 50% by bedtime. Completely worry-free tech and I’m all about that.
Nice! I must have had a fluke series 4… I had none of the experiences a lot of you all had. My series 4 was legit just as snappy and would always make it through a full day no problem. 🤷🏼♂️
Yep, since I got my ultra watch 2 I have been feeling very compelled to workout given the price I paid. Damn straight I'm gonna use it as a fitness tracker. I've gone in with the sleep tracker too, I tend to have the same chargning routine as you mentioned in the video where the 20 - 30 minutes spent getting ready is enough to charge it for the day. Maybe it's a little lame but I am actually feeling a lot more encouraged to be more active and keep to a decent bedtime routine. It only took 800 quid to get my ass in gear. I really like the design of it as well, it just looks more rugged and ready and the fact it hasn't scratched not even in the slightest yet has me very impressed.
Nice!! So glad it's working out for you!
I just bought the Ultra through my carrier online, since they apparently don’t sell it in-store. May get it this weekend or on Monday. It will be replacing my Series 7, which has been the best Apple Watch I’ve ever owned. This upgrade is mainly for the brighter screen, more durable crystal, chunky digital crown, and longer battery life.
NOICE 🤘
Bummer!
I have the serie 7 as well:.. still doubting .. because I hope the ultra would come out in a dark color.. how is the experience ?
Experience so far has been positive. I can finally use Cellular and never have to think about battery levels. I echo other sentiments that the band choices are awful and I've since relegated myself to using my tried and true Nike elastomer bands. I also wish Apple would update the radios to 5G, as there are noticeable times when I can't complete a call or receive data. But overall, very positive experience.@@Desilv
I wanted to wait like you until a really new design came out, I started with the zero then the 3 so the ultra is my 3rd. Honestly besides the battery I like the look, bigger and brighter screen, the phone speakers and clarity compared to the 3 are amazing. Plus the 3 is no longer receiving any updates so it’s been a good deal with the added health features that came after the 3. Enjoyed your honest review.
Nice Scott! Seems like a good upgrade for you! 🙌 thanks!
@@SpencerScottPugh btw my name is Scott Spencer
😂😂😂 friggin awesome
I went from the 3 to the 5 to the Ultra. I find the Ultra is the best watch I’ve had so far
I Have a 6. Battery health down at ~70. Screen all scratched up. Shuts down from time to time even when fully charged. Ultra will be my new friend 😊
I will say I’ve had a different experience with my Apple Watch 4. The software seems to be pretty clunky and slow thats why I have debated getting the Ultra. I’ve attempted several unpair and repairing cycles but the performance isn’t any better. Other than that, the 4 is still solid. I appreciate your views on the watch.
Oh dang… maybe I’ve been able to skip apple’s depreciation updates ;) thanks for watching bro!
Hurray for you! We love lucky times. A free Apple Watch is a good day. I had the 0, 3 and currently use the 6. I see no need to upgrade right now either. I just recently started using the sleep feature and, yeah, charge up as I shower and shave is usually enough. If I a get a low battery warning, I’ll just juice it up in the evening before bed. Thanks for sharing.
Juice.
I’m in the same situation. Series 4 with 77% battery life health but still getting 18 hours on low power mode
niceeee my name a jeff
Just replaced my Series 4 as well, primarily because of dying a battery but also ‘cause I could pay for the Ultra over time with the Apple Card ($800 at once would’ve been too much for me). So far no regrets. :)
Yeahp! Apple Card payments are where it's at! Enjoy!
I upgraded from a Series 3 (bought for my wife who never wore it). What a change!!
Niceeee 🙌
Just added ultra 2 to my line yesterday first smartwatch…
Still waiting for a round watch from them. But the Ultra is still tempting.
That’s kinda where I was… or maybe not even round, just something crazy different.
I have the ultra and I love it. Never had an Apple Watch before though
Ah welcome to the Apple Watch gang 🤌
I have the series 4 and now the ultra, I got it because I have large hands/fingers. Typing on the series 4 is difficult, typing on ultra ❤. It’s awesome, this watch isn’t for athletes or athletics, it’s for people like myself with big hands.
I just want to take a moment to acknowledge your luck 😂 $1000 and apple watch ultra! You got some serious luck!!
Dude I know! I couldn't believe it!
Well, your luck hasn't run out just yet, It just so happens you just won another Subscriber! 😝and seriously, congrats on holding onto a S4 for so long. I'm going from a S6 to Ultra with a bit of luck of my own. Special financing locking me into a bit of pain for the next few years, but I don't see any reason to complain since I don't plan to replace it with something else for at least 5 years. 😜
Nice! Thanks for the sub!
ive been rocking the series 1 just died on me and got the ultra 2
Nice!
i got the ultra purely for the looks, this is the first time i liked a apple watch design and size. before they just looked small and girl-like to me. put a nice metal band on it and i like it very much. screen is nice too.
Nice! Glad you’re happy with it!
A fellow DMV’r nice vid! I believe if you want a total redesign it’s worth the buy. Trade in the old bet the new for around the price of a series 8. Not to mention the series 8 stainless steel is $750! You’re damn near spending the same amount of money. Unless you like the look of the older models cool keep it but if you want a new form factor roll with the ultra
yeahp, if you have the budget and want to get the 8 or ultra, id say go for the ultra for sure!
yeahp, if you have the budget and want to get the 8 or ultra, id say go for the ultra for sure!
Sleep in your series 4, everything else use the Ultra. That’s what I’m rocking, it’s awesome!
That’s exactly what I plan to do when I eventually get the Ultra
That's a pretty great idea... Going to sell my 4 though. Really cash in on this biz conference ROI lol.
Love it!
Also upgraded from a launch day s4! Honestly my s4 was still lasting me a full day, though I wasn’t sleep tracking with it. If that thing lasted me 4 years, theoretically the ultra will last me 8 😂😂
That’s good thinking 😂 I was in the exact boat as you 👍
Just got the Apple Watch Ultra, first hardware refresh in five years. And the watch is knight and day different.
Nice! glad you like it!
Finally, an honest review that doesn’t try justify it. For the everyday person It’s just a more hard wearing Apple Watch, nothing more. Even the screen isn’t bigger than the Series 7 that I had. It’s the same size, the ultra is just chunkier. I bought purely because I like the way it looks and the battery is better than my series 7. Other than that, it’s the same thing.
Feels that way!
If I were you, I'd have gone and bought a lottery ticket the amount you had at that conference!
Haha I totally should have!
I'm an average consumer, and I went from a Series 6 to the Ultra. I love it. Like you, I put it on the charger while I shower. Every four or five days I charge it up to 100% during the day. It's the first watch that made sleep-tracking practical for me. FYI, the watch won't do sleep-tracking if you go to bed with less the 30%.
Ahhhh thanks for the tip!! But yeah, I’m loving the battery life.
It will do sleep tracking even if your battery is below 20%
Which is it 👀👀👀👀
I Just got mine like 3 weeks ago, I had the SE first Gen, I think that the SE could give me one more year of use but I got so Hype about the Ultra that I rush my decision a little bit... but its so nice and so well made that I have no regrests.
I agree it is very well made!
I bought my ultra at Apple Store and I love it! I am coming from a 7 Nike and SE
Wish we had an Apple Store in my city 😭
@@SpencerScottPugh congratulations on winning an Apple Watch Ultra! Keep it because it’s awesome!
I’ve been enjoying it so far!
Congratulations, dude 😎👍🏻
Thanks Peter! 🙌
I am getting mine soon 👊🏽 I will give my feedback soon
Nice! Enjoy!
I thought I was the only one who thought the Apple Watch Ultra looks like a deep-sea diving helmet!! 😂😂😂
Lol make sense I guess! They leaned into it with their marketing toward target audience
Getting my first Apple watch series 6 and still uses..getting the series 5 for my eldest brother cause series 4 is too small for storage..
Nice!
Did you compared stainless steel sapphire model 4 with your series 4???? 😂 , price difference is/was the same
Always on display was a huge upgrade from series 4 to series 5. So always on display, faster response due to the faster chip, and larger (brighter) display…man that’s a huge difference dude!
I haven’t noticed much by way of speed! I know it has improved, but I haven’t noticed in my use cases!
Get these watches if you feel like you need them. Series 4: bigger display Series 5: always on display/ECG/ faster Series 6: blood oxygen/ FSTR Series 7: bigger screen/ same processor Series 8: stronger glass/temp sensor/ SP SE: best value SE 2: even better value Ultra: better battery life, stronger display, best value if you’re considering an S8 Stainless Steel.
Haha this is awesome. Thanks Tom!
I have a series 2 or 3 I’m not sure. All I know is I don’t have anything close to new and it has a bad crack on the screen. For all of you upgrading from a 4 or later, just wait. Some of us don’t get to buy every model every year
Well if you need one for the first time or broke one I’d recommend it.. cuz they will last forever. Only reason i upgraded my 4 stainless cuz i hit it twice hard in the same day n it cracked the sapphire glass. It still had 83% Health so i likely would have not upgraded for even more years. Now since you can get apple care forever in hoping i can make the Ultra last way longer. I gotta say though saying the only difference being battery life is not accurate at all unless you’re using it for bare minimum
I think the average consumer is using it for the bare minimum! Nice perspective, Jissan!
I received my Series 4 the week after it was announced and have been very happy with it. I have always slept with any watch I own (don't understand why a person wouldn't)! I charge my watch in the morning while cleaning up and an hour to an hour and a half before going to bed. If an emergency charge is needed I carry a charger on my keychain. My max battery is below 80% so instead of replacing the battery I was considering purchasing an Ultra, but after watching your video I don't think I will. The Series 4 already gives me the medical things I need. The one medical thing I want is Diabetes testing, so I will get the battery replaced for my Series 4 and wait for Apple to add Diabetes testing to the watch. I know there are other options for Diabetes testing but I want it on my Apple watch.
Totally agree
Nice! Thanks for watching!
I’m curious to see how they are going to handle future iterations of the Ultra going forward. Will there be an ultra 2 next year? Will they release a new one every few years? Regardless, I can see the talking points already- “this is our thinnest and lightest Apple Watch Ultra we’ve ever created…” I think if anyone is on the fence about the Ultra they should wait to hear how Apple is going to handle future releases because I can only imagine they will make future versions less chunky since that’s the main reason why someone wouldn’t get one, apart from price.
I’m interested as well!
This isn't about thin and light. this is for the kind of people who wear dive watches. ,
@@DanaTheInsane Haha bro I doubt even 1 of every 100 people with an Ultra bought it for scuba diving specifically. The Ultra is Apple’s high end watch. They want to sell as many of them as they possibly can. I can guarantee you at some point Apple will work on making the Ultra less bulky.
Think I agree with Husker, here.
@@Husker_ I think he’s referring to people who wear automatic, mechanical dive watches with Swiss movements. They have thick cases so that the movement can fit inside. I own an Omega Seamaster and a Rolex Submariner and have never gone scuba diving in them. I wear them because they are beautiful and pieces of incredible engineering. The AWU looks and wears a lot like those watches so people who wear mechanical watches will be drawn to them over the S8. I know I was
I’m still rocking my Series 3, I’ve told myself the same thing that I wasn’t going to upgrade until it broke or they came out with one that was different enough for me. I’m starting to loose the battle here 😅
Hold fast Fredy!!!! Haha jk you do you!
Ha! I’m going down the same path now with my Series 3. On one hand the Series 3 still works fine and does 97% of what an Ultra would do - but the the overall package of upgrades is pretty compelling and starting to pull me in! 😮😂
Why only one color??? They make a all black im running to get one
All black ultra?
No mention of the always on display? That is a game changer imo.
Think I talked about it in a comment reply! I think since I’ve been wearing a watch without it since 2015 it’s not something I’ve really missed. Just used to raising or tapping. 🤷🏼♂️
Holy cow - your luck is only matched by my ability to be UN-lucky! Hahaha
Same here. AW Series 4. Still has 96% battery health! But the Ultra blew me over and got it. Have not had a single regret!
Love to hear it!
Definitely don’t pass this up but it is for every average consumer everyone. What no one seems to realize is it is the same price as the series 8 if you buy a stainless steel cellular model. So this is a no-brainer. This is the watch to buy if you’re looking for one. Battery life alone is one reason to pick this one up. Like his watch is 3 to 4 years old the battery is degraded, so in 3 to 4 years this watch will have better battery. Great video keep up the nice work.
Good points, Lance 🤘
well my series 1 is still going pretty nice ..... but going for ultra now..
Nice. Worth it!
I have an AW6, upgraded from an AW4. Because I wanted the AO screen and EKG. I would like to have an AW Ultra, but my 6 still does what I want. If the Ultra had a blood pressure readout, then I would buy one. But hopefully the Ultra-2 will have it. You guys seem to be rough on your watches. My previous AW4, which my wife is using, and my current AW6, have no scratches and look new. I wear it all the time, and run in it 5 days a week. Just sayin’.
you're just lucky with your arm swings 😂
I got the Ultra the day it came out, replacing a Series 7. I'm experiencing a lot more of a difference than you are (and from a Series 4 for you!). The display is not only larger, but significantly brighter. The larger display is more than just incremental: it makes the watch more usable when messing with apps. You noted the battery life difference, which for me is a really big deal. I find I can wear it all day and all night and then charge it for an hour (or less) in the morning to get back to a full charge. Aesthetically, I love the way it looks, and it feels substantial. Great watch.
These are all my biased apple sheep thoughts wrapped up into one comment (I love this thing. I just didn’t want to buy it 😂)
We are apple sheep for a reason lol 😂
I upgraded my iPhone 7 to this ultra, And have no regrets at all. The screen is better, I like how it physically looks over the 7. And this is the first Apple Watch I’ve ever own, the ultra that is, where I’ve had multiple strangers come up to me and complement my watch. By the way, I still have my 7, and probably will not wear it again.
Sell the 7! It’s still worth a ton I’m sure… I use Mercari for buying and selling used stuff!
@@SpencerScottPugh I’ll check it out
And as far as the $800 price I really don’t know too many people who are not on a payment plan other than paying the 800 all at once so the payment plan makes you feel better spending money on the watch since there’s not all that much money upfront
Oh for sure. The apple card is incredible for apple sheep on a budget! I've used it for most big purchases sans the iPhone.
On top of that most carriers had a big discount on them. I got $150 off n it’s $8 a month n i needed to replace a broken one
Oh nice! How much is the cellular plan for you?
@@SpencerScottPugh don’t go with a cellular plan
Already did! Just want to try it out as I’ve never had it before. Also want to try some digital detoxes with just the watch
I might upgrade my SE first gen when they go on sale. I am old. I just need a bigger screen. Extra battery is a big plus. I don’t care about the rest. I still have my Apple Watch 1. It feels more solid than the ultra, to be honest, and works fine. I guess if the watch 1 still works I will get my money’s worth out of the ultra at about 700 dollars.
Nice! Good thinking 👍
