Faris Caves Kanopolis Kansas

Faris Caves are along the banks of the Smoky Hill River just east of what had been Fort Harker, Kansas (modern day Kanopolis, Kansas). In 1884 Charles Griffee carved out three small rooms in the Dakota Sandstone bluffs to serve as his living quarters. The middle and right rooms were connected together by a door way essentially giving Mr. Griffee a two room house. The third room was used as a spring house to keep things cold and a natural spring in that room allowed things to stay fresh in the cool water. We had heard about this a few months ago and glad we made the trip to check it out (and you should too!)

  • Amazing. They seem identical to English examples... Look up Kinver Edge rock houses, the Rockhouse Retreat Worcestershire, Nottingham Caves, Anchor Church Cave, Guys Cliff cave Warwick.

    • This isn’t a cave it’s a melted structure!

    • Did Jon give you that idea? Instead of mindlessly repeating jon, why don't you ask yourself what remineralization is. Instead ask yourself if perhaps it makes more sense to think it's an ancient structure that has become incased by another mineral such as limestone. You know, kinda like the same fucking material as the bluffs surrounding the caves. But no... it's always melted. Never the possibility of a city buried at the bottom of an ocean or sea remineralized as a giant building fossil. Nope. It's a melted building.

    • Yes, exactly. And very like the Limestone caves in Sardinia... This is limestone too :) And I guess it's not carved out by Charles Griffee in 1884 like it's written in the the uploaders text :)

  • They are very similar to the caves in Sardinia, Malta, Turkey etc. Probably limestone... Check out the smooth surfaces inside the caves... 🙂 The uploader claims they were cut out by a Soldier called Charles Griffee in 1884 I dont believe that... THESE CAVES ARE ANCIENT 🙂

    @MichaelMartinussen@MichaelMartinussen2 ай бұрын
    • Exactly, that limestone is extremely weathered on the inside which on the outside would take 5000 years or more. Ancient
