This is a mix between a rendition of the famous Malagueña by the cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona and a composition by myself named Spanish Dance. I added some latin american/cuban/brazilian rythms to spice it up. I hope you enjoy my rendition of this masterpiece!
Cheers!

    • @@veganbutcherhackepeterI believe he means taking it to it's "original ground". The malagueña as a style has been around since the early 1800's and it's origins from Spain to Latin America and back are more complex than many people think. For "En la Caleta" Paco took a few melodies originally made popular by Sabicas, and before Sabicas there were others that he took from, as is always the case in traditional music. The roots are actually in the fandango and the solo guitar is inspired by the accompanyment of the singing. So if you really want to hear the original ground, listen to Ramón Montoya accompanying Antonio Chacón, Manolo de Huelva with Manuel Vallejo or Félix de Utrera with Pericón de Cádiz. Don't want to be a know-it-all - I just love flamenco culture and history and it is truly fascinating if you want to go down that rabbit hole. Which is not taking away from Lucas' playing, it is truly beautiful and amazing.

The whole idea of TikTok is to get young people hooked on it so they never become adults who can think for themselves-- and you can't think for yourself when all you're doing is copying others or just making vids for superficial entertainment. • Over the last 50 years of my life, I have probably heard over 100 different guitarists attempt this piece. From Jose Feliciano to Roy Clark to everyone else. Most of them, pretty much play exactly the same arrangement, or at least a very similar version. This however, has to be the most unique, innovative and powerful arrangement of this tune I have ever heard. And it sounds nothing like every other traditional version of this arrangement that is typically played. This version uses every trick and technique in the book. What Tommy Emmanuel did for Classical Gas, Lucas has done for Malaguena. When the history books are written, I think Lucas, (just like Tommy), will be remembered as one of the greatest fingerstyle guitarists that has ever lived. A guitarist not content on merely just copying others, but on reinventing what it means to be a fingerstyle guitarist.

  • 🇬🇧 Any Spanish guitar music sends my blood rushing through my veins & gives me goosebumps. My great great grandmother was Spanish Basque & she apparently played guitar! My Mother only vaguely remembers being told about how her playing was amazing! I didnt find out about this until i Got my first guitar & began teaching myself to play. I had a very strange method but it worked for me. When my parents saw how keen i was & how i practised every moment i got ( i was 13 or 14yrs) My dad bought me a beautiful Fender Classic Guitar. Although i loved Spanish guitar i Fell in love with classical guitar Music & studied the old English compositions like Greensleeves That were played on the Lute. Later on i bought another guitar & used it mainly for Flamenco & Found some old Basque folk tunes Still using my own method i found playing so relaxing & grounding. I never wanted to go & study music or take it up professionally ( working in the field of Psychology) i used my passion for playing with patients with depression etc. I dont play as much now, as my fingers are quite arthritic but Whenever i hear Spanish guitar Its like a fizzy sherbet runs in my blood & my face flushes & im Ecstatic! Ive just discovered another guitar player called Estes Tonne, whos toured all over ( some comnenter said he looks like Jesus playing Spanish Guitar!) I particulary love another young Polish guitarist with a unique style & hes called Marcin ( said as Marcheen) Thank you for the video Peace 🇬🇧👧
