3 days solo bushcraft trip - hot tent, rain, bats, sharpening tools, sea and forrest, cooking meat
3 days in Denmark - basecamp in pine forrest close to sea. Open the full video description to read more.
----------------------------
Date: July 2021
Day: 10-25°C (50-77°F)
Night: 5-15°C (41-59°F)
Hours of daylight = 18
Location: Scandinavia, the west coast of Denmark - sea, spruce/pine and hardwood forrest. Some of the most remote in Denmark, but there are a lot of people in Denmark, so limited how remote it can get. A lot of birds and deers etc. No bears, only a few wolves - nothing dangerous for campers.

Consuming: Water, pine tea - cow meat with onions, potatoes, salt and chili.

A few questions:
1. Why cut the grass?
To clear a small area to set up the tent. It is easy to loose gear in tall grass and the grass is also useful to make a softer bed. A lot of ticks here, but I am one of the lucky ones who never get any. The risk of snake problems is low in Denmark.
2. Why add sand/dirt under the stove?
Fire safety. The stove give off a lot of heat and it dries out the near by ground and can ignite example grass, moss etc. In this case is sand and water used to prevent it. Stones is an easier options, but in this case am I close to a big sea and here is only sand, no stones.
3. What tent and stove are you using?
The tent is made by "Tschum" and is the 4P light version tschum.de/product_info.php?in...
The Stove is a Poshehonka size M, basic version tschum.de/product_info.php?in...
4. What did you use to start the fire?
Fatwood from a pine tree and a ferro rod.
5. How long did it rain?
Most of day 2 and 3.... Not ideal for me, but was grat for nature - it has been dry here in Denmark for a while.
6. How far is the sea from the tent?
20-30 minutes hiking.
7. What was flying around in the campsite doing night?
Bats. They probably have a home in a near by tree. The pound provide the bats with food/insects.
8. In the last video was you in Sapmi and was planning on staying for a while - has the plan changed?
Yes - I am back in Denmark and is going to stay for a few months. I will be back in Sapmi to fall, when the mosquito season is over.

Some of the gear used in the video:
1. Pants = made by "Klattermusen"
2. Tent = made by "Tschum" model "KATUN 4P Light"
3. Wood stove = Poshehonka M basic
4. Axe and knife = homemade

Same here. Didnt knew he came back till i saw this video. Its really good to see he's back

Dude gets a haircut and becomes a different guy lol
I love your videos Bertram. You were of the first bushcraft videos that got me onto all of this. Your channel and DonVonGun. You also inspire me to get into blacksmithing!
Why u talking about him like he is not with us.
And that's how bushcraft videos should look like. No shitty talking, no adverts of clothing, ready-to-drink meals or knives ads. Just a man enjoying his wildernes adventure. Thanks for sharing this experience with Us!
I often have family with me so I have to talk. :)
Sure I mean if you're doing like Bushcraft yet has to be more nature-wise but there's a couple guys that actually just you know hobo camp they just find a spot and go down maybe the talking but yeah real Bushcraft should not be talking to just see everything being done
There is something calm and soothing to Bertram's trips into the woods. I come to this channel for peace and love of nature.
Ahhh. Makes me feel like the world is getting better and like seeing an old friend who’s been gone awhile.
I've missed your videos man... A family member saw me watching your videos once, and it was difficult explaining that it's not just a dude camping, but much, much more than that. It's appreciating life. It's admiring nature's ingenuity and artistic touch. It's living a life of freedom and oneness with our mother. It's art. And only someone that has spent some time in nature alone is able to understand it. The rest just see a dude camping.
Well said. I’m a hunter and the additional immersive element that solo hunting adds to your comments is how I’ve lived in my camping, hunting, bushcrafting life. I see it all as Spiritual and Nature…my Church. Anti-hunters too often assume that hunters only go to the woods to kill everything they see. Guys who love and respect the outdoors, in the bush experiences, are typically more measured, calmer in life in general too, in my experience. We know why we can’t get enough of it.
Last update: Now that your family member does watch Rune's videos too...😎
Death was everywhere here, but death was simple, understandable, wise in its own way, even fair: leaves and needles flew from trees and rotted in the ground, broke under a heavy bear paw and bushes dried up, the grass became the prey of a deer, and he himself - a pack of wolves. . Death was closely, inextricably intertwined with life - and therefore not terrible.
Bro its not a dude camping its a dude living

Why you think that?

My 21 minutes of bliss. Thanks, Bertram! 💝
Nothing like rain falling on your tent. So soothing.
For anyone wondering. That twig that he broke off the tree is fatwood. Fatwood is wood soaked in flammable sap from pine usually. It looks more saturated and it also smells more strongly which is why he smelled it.
Surprisingly.. I knew that.. I'm glad you posted it though Geoffrey. And what I meant by surprisingly, I happened to see a vid on fatwood a week ago... Otherwise I wouldn't have known about that.
Yeah, i figured it too... And also suprised myself. I think those almost 12 years of scouting paid off after all... :D
I thank you for this newly acquired wisdom!
He also made tea from pine needles... I can smell it already😮🌲🌲

I never get tired of watching your videos. Thanks for taking us along
Hi, fantastic video. Your the Master of easy Bushcraft life, without using the ' latest ' Tools. Thats the real la dolce vita. Best wishes from germany
It is so good to watch such a simple approach to camping and bushcrafting with just the basics, no fancy kits and specialised bits and pieces. Only what is necessary.
Could you elaborate? He's using a stove for example. I don't see how that's not specialised.

Thank you very much for your videos. On the one hand, I always take a relax by them and on the other hand, it is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for me. Thank you very much and greetings from the Czech Republic!
Bertram, good man-good man. Thank you for the peace and instruction you share with us.
Awesome! Welcome back my friend. What real bushcraft was and should always be.
I wish we could just leave everything and go...blue sky soft earth cool wind and wonderful nature...the world is so beautiful, as ugly as it is beautiful, as beautiful as it is ugly...
The only thing ugly about our world is humanity. We are horrible, greedy beings by nature. We are hypocrites who are too busy attaining wealth while we poison our air water and food supplies. there are way too many of us who are too stupid to get out of our own way and we have no plans to save the Earth for continued habitation. Therefore, we will cease.

Another fantastic outing. Thanks for the video
I really enjoy these videos. Particularly since Bertram isn’t doing any advertising (“gear reviews”) or cooking a lasagna, apple pie or some other ridiculous over the top meal.
I also watch Bushcrafters, who make luxurious meals. Their feasts entertain me. But they can not compete with the relaxsation and just wholesome feelings this gives me.
Nagualero is another good channel for quiet camping/bushcraft videos. And he makes simple "feasts" with just a nice steak, or even a small bread roll he cooked over the fire and such.
@@disgruntledgames thanks mate! Just checked out his channel. Really nice and relaxing videos! Immediately subscribed. Still Bertrams style is just the best!
@@SomeDudeThinksSomething Definitely. Bertram's great. Glad I could help you find additional content too. Enjoy!
You're absolutely right. The guy makes his own tools, wears thrift store sweaters, and lives off fried beef and potatoes for 3 days. Best bushcraft material on youtube, if you ask me.

Another great outing. And the "noisiest" Bertram vid I've seen to date! 🤣 Thanks for your efforts.. 🤠
It's strange that almost everyone I know would say that the your videos are boring because you don't talk, but they can't watch more than ten minutes of it because of their preconception that it gonna be bad :/. Congratulations man, your work is amazing.
You brightened my day, thank you Rune for sharing these vibes with us!

LOL I think they are in my head!
Jeg troede, det ville være velkommen at se en kommentar fra et tæt sprog. Jeg elsker dine videoer
Your videos bring us peace.
The axe sharpening stone holder is perfect. Portable bench stone. As usual your videos are EXCELLENT.
hair cut, I am not sure how I feel about it, are we even sure this is him, he could have been kidnaped and this man took over his channel? no, this could not be him, his Ax work is not the same sending a rescue team to find you and and set you free. All kidding aside, nice to see you making videos again
You look well feeded now, like you married or got a girlfriend :D Same happend to me, i got married and got +13kg because my wife cooked really good :D
Rune👍👍 I can't get used to the short hair, no worries all the rest seems normal, the usual excellent wilderness skills and bushcrafting as expected. Nice stove, especially with the sizzling meat and veggies on top. The situation with ticks still bothers me, another KZhead bushcrafter got bit two years ago and still has some problems, can't be too careful. Bug bats are fine, blood bats not so much, glad yours liked bugs. Great video and to see you in the wild again. Well filmed too, thanks for sharing. Hope to see you again soon. Enjoy!
Hello Bertram, how are you, I'm from Indonesia, I always watch videos of your adventures 4 or 2 years ago, until now I never got a notification about your camping video, I hope you're fine and you're back on your adventure, I like the way you go on adventures, it's very unique, keep up the good work, brother, God is with you
This guy: Ticks in the grass: No, not today.
Ha also wondered that 😆
Glad so many city people enjoy watching a guy cut grass, make a fire, eat food and sleep in a tent. People who live in nature (admittedly a small number) do this everyday. Adios
Fint att du är tillbaka! Äntligen riktiga bushcraft/naturfilmer🙂 Härligt!👍👍
Some people think it's all about the big house, with a big car and lots of shiny shit. But for me, this is all we need to be living how we should be, we'd be so much happier to. I couldn't dream of a better life than 1 like this.
Me : "Rune, how about covid in your place? " Rune : "What is covid? Is that a food? "
I was going to comment, but just like your amazing videos, I felt words were not needed.

Thank you, once again for sharing your journey with us. Everytime I watch one of your videos I find inspiration and now my kids are at me to home school them while we go on extended camping trips.
Beautiful natural scenery.... 3 days solo bushcraft...so nice
I know others have said it, as have I, but that ubiquitous smile you carry is awesome.
we miss you so much. best camper👍👍👍
Boy you clean up nice Bertram. If only I was about 60 years younger. Lol
Happy for you come back, man. We from Brazil miss you. Thank you, hugs!! 🇧🇷
I like the way he soaked the ground underneath his stove. I bushcraft a lot myself and 3 years ago when I returned to an old location I saw my old fire had burned a large hole about 6 feet long and over a foot deep from burning tree roots underground, even though I HAD put the surface fire out. Ever since that day I have always soaked the ground where I am going to make a fire if it isn't already wet. That was a very good and important lesson.
Это хорошо что, снова видео появилась на канале!!!
You have a way of capturing nature that no one else has. Thank you for continuing to make these beautiful films Bertram. All the best to you and your family
Great video Rune!I'm so glad that you are back!
