Understand that when one isn't heard when they're young, it does contribute to speaking fast because you think they may cut you off. It's hard to explain. Trauma, such as experiencing violence, incarceration, or the loss of loved ones, can have a profound impact on a person's behaviour and communication style. It's not uncommon for individuals who have experienced trauma to speak quickly or struggle to express themselves effectively, especially if they have not had opportunities to be heard or validated in the past. Additionally, feelings of low self-esteem or a desire for validation and recognition can influence how someone behaves and interacts with others. In the situation you described, the individual may speak quickly as a defence mechanism or out of fear of not being heard or understood. It's important to approach each person's experiences and behaviours with empathy and understanding. Trauma can manifest in various ways, and acknowledging and validating someone's experiences can be a crucial step in supporting them on their journey toward healing and recovery.
