  • Interesting. A breed/classification of dogs found in the Philippines called ASPIN ("Asong Pinoy" literally "Philippine Dog" in English) is a combination of many varieties and breeds of dog. This resulted in a breed that has a very strong immune system with no health issues at all. It feels like it's being bred back to its ancestors somehow.

  • I got my first dog about a year ago. Always been a cat person. Now I can't picture life without one. I have a Pembroke Corgi and just can't believe how smart and intuitive he is. I once took him free walking at night. Pretty much just told him to go anywhere and I'll follow him. He found a couple stray cats to chase, but eventually walked right to the place where we'd run around for exercise. Then hopped around and barked at me. I get it now. I really get it.

  • IMO one of the craziest shit humans ever did was domesticate dogs and I believe that only because the humans of that time who figured out selective breeding did not necessarily even understand how genes and trait probabilities worked at the time. Yes as a species we have done WAY crazier shit since then, but a lot of times these inventors and inventors had data and research to guide them. Crazy to me that so long ago people figured out how to manipulate an entire species fate lol

  • There's a 50 yr experiment in Russia trying to breed a domesticated fox for the fur industry. But breeding for domestication also transformed the foxes into looking similar to dogs and unusable as a fox pelt. They look like dogs but are 100% fox. And they NEVER got them housebroken.

  • What an awesome video! Wouldn't you agree that it's "adaptation" instead of "evolution" because dogs and wolves have similar anatomy?

  • Border Collie owner be like... "I have a wolf tho" XD... The living enbodyment of the "missing" link... Not so missing tho. They've been unchanged since roman times pretty much, and dogs that romans have and northern europe had not only were direct descendants of regional wolves, and they are the makers of the Border Collie, which in turn is the maker of many of the modern races. In other words, we call border colllies dogs, but they're actually something abit removed from both dogs and wolves. I mean most longtime herders could spend days praising they behaviour and instinct. And what makes them be what they are is... Being particularly incharacteristic... Meaning, they havent been pushed genetically in any other direction than replicating what it already is, and super commonly, they're just not bred, but "things happen", they're both a common and cheap race, because there is actual demand for them, but they don't enter the realm of ridiculous like other breeds do. They're the most unchanged breed over centuries if not more to a point they could have been "the common dog" in large parts of europe for centuries, and they got their most known look through how much attention they got in the famous border that is mentioned everytime with the breed... but they've been all over way before, since as i pointed, they were the template for other breeds. It was a fun research, it's hard to tell how on point it was, but you can look it up for yourself, and when you see the kind of breeds "border collies" spawned, the whole "missing link" might make more sense. now ima watch the vid and enjoy.
