  • Alright then guys. Months of effort on this one. Nearly broke me. Glad to have it finally out there. Who do you think the Sea Peoples were? Let me know what you think in the comments! Don't forget to like, subscribe, comment etc and why not share with a like minded friend. Where would you like to see me go and film next once it's a bit easier to travel? Thanks for watching and see you next time

  • I'm a camera guy professionally and so don't really have a reason to be here. Doesn't mean I need one! The history of man kind and the things people have revered, the wars fought over resources or beliefs, the diversity of people's origins, and the ideas traded throughout... these things give context and with that a certain objectivity. At least for me. When non historians argue about who's land belongs to them, who's religion is correct, who's ideas are worthy, I like to look back at topics like the one covered in this video for some truth behind the matter. Or at least a step closer to truth than uneducated, radical claims so common in today's world. Bravo, well done, this video was beyond excellent!

Historical education based in factual data. The lack of such bias that unfortunately goes along with all types of knowledge based in fact makes it all the more impressive that an individual created it alone. It's spectacular.

I've been studying the peoples of the ancient Mediterranean for several years now, primarily focused on the Etruscans (Tyrrhenians/Rasna/Rasenna) and their origins. But even with your suggestion, which I missed the point on initially admittedly, it's not necessary nor needed. Not that many people watch TV networks outside of sports when you can just pull up Netflix or KZhead and look for what you want to watch. And even those that do know that most of the best stuff is usually behind subscription streaming services nowadays so there wouldn't be much of a point of putting it on Discovery or History when there are better options, like say Curiosity Stream.

I love kings and generals but i love History time just as much, his quality is equal to a channel with a channel with alot more subs and money, and the topics History time handles are rarely handled. I love that kings and generals has been handling quite obscure topics as well lately though! And History time tends to be MUCH more indepth than any channel ive seen except maybe ones like fall of civilizations.

  • One of the key events that triggered the famines and collapse: ~1600 BCE - Santorini Volcano Eruption. Santorini (Thyra) lies North of Crete, so is surrounded by the Greek and Hittite empires, with the Egyptians a bit further away. The ash clouds would cause famine all around, people would fight for the remaining food, society collapses and it gets worse, then they use any means (e.g. boats) to flee far away to other lands to pillage for food/new land, hence "the sea peoples" are born.

  • I reckon the Sea Peoples came from everywhere, and went everywhere. Climate change reduced food abundance, and (as you put it) martial cultures migrated to seek food elsewhere causing a domino effect throughout the Mediterranean. Add to that the advent of Iron Age weapons, and the staid defenses of the old empires couldn't endure.

He also recounts a curious story told by Odysseus to the swineherd when he first arrives back in Ithaca. Disguised as a beggar, Odysseus tells the swineherd that he was from Crete and had taken part in an attack on Egypt that sounds uncannily similar to the Egyptian inscription. It appears that Homer knew something about the sea people.

    • @@alexdunphy3716 I'm not disputing the core of your comment, but it may be worth noting that 10 year figure given as the length of the siege of Troy (or, indeed, the exploits of Odysseus) is inaccurate--although I can't say by how much. To my understanding, it tracks with a popular turn of poetic phrase "9 times and then a 10th", which was used in Homer's time to convey that a task had been quite arduous and required many attempts, even if the actual number had been greater or lesser than exactly 10. In which case, what the commentary on the siege tells us is not necessarily that it took 10 actual years, but rather that it took a very long time by the reckoning of the people of the day.

Ramses III says they attacked Arzawa, Alashyia, Hatti, Kode, Karkamish. But not Tanaya or Caphtiu, that's how they called Greece and Crete. Maybe because they WERE from Tanaya and Caphtiu. The greek palaces seem tô have been the first domino tô fall. Then all hell broke loose. Also Ramses III says the sea peoples set up a camp in Amorru and devastated the area for years,. Seems a lot like the trojan campaign, where the greeks set up a camp and sacked everything Worth talking until nothing else lasted there tô loot.

  • The craziest part about this era to me is people established a trade network that spanned from England to Aghanistan, more than 1200 years before Alexander was born and 1500 years before the Silk Road really got going. It must have been scary for some of those daring traders venturing through the unmapped world.

  • I think, after watching most of this, don't worry, I am most certainly going to watch it all, that you have rather uncovered a new line of thinking. There was no ONE sea people. It was more a thing, that happened over different times with numerous "Sea People". A bit like the Vikings many years later, except these early ones didn't unite. I never knew there were so many contenders! Yes, traders would logically (but not obviously) have taken on board people who could speak different languages, as well as the one (s) the captain spoke, and thus extend their trading scope. Brilliant! Thank you once again!

There’s plenty of information about the battles between Israel and the Canaanites and the Hittites, peoples that you mention here in this video. I enjoyed it, unfortunately there’s so much of history that’s been lost to us regarding the past of the world. The movies that could be made would be extraordinary if we had that information accurately. Great job.

Or the 'now hybrids' existing today. They are of human origin of MANKIND. And thats why they could easily breed with the rest of us. And still today, we have a few pop up in the ol' gene pool everywhere. Inside Earth is a warm tropical paradise. It has an inner sun. It also has 'tech' as seen on one old map. IONIC. Not electricity. Tartaria was ALL IONIC and that is EXACTLY WHERE TESSLA GOT ALL THE INFO!!! TARTARIA! Harmonic architecture with glowing lamps of light indoors and outdoors with no electricity! WORD! Scientist Willhelm Riech, 'father' of modern IONIC TECH, said before being thrown into prison and executed there, ''Electricity is of satan! IONICS is OF THE DIVINE!" NO HARM WHATSOEVER TO ANY VITAL SYSTEM IN NATURE PEEPS! And...helps veggies grow GIANT! 5G IS KILLING ALL LIFE! Tree's and animals are dying left, right and center!
