@@joeledison2966 I believe she had an interpreter off screen, behind Djimon. Her eyes are frequently focused in that space. She is definitely deaf, there was a whole thing about how important John Krasinski felt it was to have a real deaf actress playing the deaf character.

@cinemarose I agree! Unfortunately, I expect roles will have to be written for her. It's not like casting different ethnicities or a woman instead of a man. I hope directors will want to work with her and maybe rewrite a role to be deaf. But I think someone needs to write her a teen romance vehicle showing what challenges there are when a hearing guy falls for her. That, and of course A Quiet Place part 3!!

Emily is truly amazing at bringing out the best in people! She makes this press interview so comfortable and inclusive for her co-stars, especially Cillian and Djimon who are typically very reserved.
So true, she quashed all the awkward silences. I'm still wondering why Djimon is even in this interview, his character was in the movie for a whole two minutes lol.
Very impressed with the young lady. She’s a wonderful actress and the fact that she’s actually deaf is very honoring to the deaf community I’m sure. I’m sure she gives them more hope that they can overcome their obstacles too. Well done.

As an introvert myself, I totally relate to Cillian Murphy in the sense that being the center of attention and having to express your opinions in front of people can be uncomfortable but if you're with people you feel comfortable with, it can feel much more enjoyable, and he does look really relaxed and happy in this interview, I'm glad they are all good friends.
Clicked for Cillian mostly, stayed for the whole chemistry they have, I swear Emily is charming as always. They all look like they're genuinely having fun in this interview that would often be very dull.

Agree. I mean it's sad that we have to set the bar so low - for any hearing person, this stuff is automatic; and it should be for deaf people too - but it's also really nice that Milly's actually able to get that, unlike so many deaf people.

The character was written to be deaf and the family knew how to sign, so only a deaf girl could fill that role. This is how it usually goes
Millie is fantastic. And with the Deaf community, many don’t see Deafness as a disability. It’s a language, a culture, a whole community. And being Deaf defines them as much as being French defines someone from France.

Cillian looked so incredible in this movie. The dusty, bearded survival look is amazing on him. And his acting, as ALWAYS was superb.
Djimon Hounsou's comment that the origin of film is silent was so insightful. I mean I knew that, but I had forgotten. I agree, there is a huge power in a primarily visual medium, when you strip it down to entirely visual. So good man!

This interview was done just before things shut down last year. Originally, this movie was supposed to be released last year, but got pushed back due to the pandemic. They're just re-releasing the interviews now to get people excited & interested again.

watching this again in 2024 and i can’t stop smiling. i can’t believe i got to see them working together again and then getting their very first oscar nominations. cillian and emily’s chemistry was always so palpable, they’re so comfortable with each other and trust each other, their friendship really translates on to the screen and that was a big part of why they worked so well together in oppenheimer. i’m very proud ❤

I just loved how powerfully motivating Emily was in this interview. You can tell she was the atmosphere setting person, setting and keeping the bar high attitude, as well as individually responsive to each and every other person. Her poise and manners even in the manner of sitting demanded respect and control, yet she still kept giving the attention to the others. Such a classy lady. And Millie, love how amazing she is!

The tense, understatement, "scary" in 1 & 2 with the dystopian silence in the perspective of a deaf person and a requirement of that silence in order to survive made these uniquely special to watch. 👍❤ Brilliant!

My God! Went to watch part 2 with my brothers today and all I'll say is that what John said about these movies being less horror and more about the family dynamic, he couldn't have been more spot on! It was an emotional roller coaster for me watching this one because they did such an incredible job at making you understand and fully feel every individual hardship. Emily, Milli, Noah, the freaking baby, and even Cillian! You can find a little piece of yourself in each of these characters and THAT is a harddd thing to do when writing these scripts
Loved how included Millicent is in these movies and interviews and everything, and any time it was turn to answer everyone was silent and payed attention to her and what she had to say, it was very sweet to see. She's such a beautiful young women and is so patient with everyone 💖

I watched 'A Quiet Place II' @ The Crest Theater in Shoreline, Wa. 2 days ago. This was the first time my husband and I had been back in a theater. There were only 4 other people, my husband and myself. It was an amazing experience! At one point, I realized we were all holding our breath. Even sitting rows away from one another, we were clearly in this together. Thank you for allowing us to see and enjoy this on the big screen together as a community. It may sound silly but I have truly missed the theater experience. God bless!

She is such a talented actress and she made it difficult to not get sucked into this movie emotionally. I think I wanted to cry when she cried... she was just amazing and has an amazing future ahead of her... I'm really looking forward to seeing A Quiet Place Part 3, it needs to happen... Part 2 left me feeling desperate for more and I need to see a Part 3...
