  • 13:53 That is a TMA truck, used as protection when towing, at road works etc. He probably has a right hand steered so he doesn't have to exit the truck on the traffic side when stopping at the "scene" :) And the red and white houses are because that red color is traditionally made from left over copper from the Falu copper mine. The copper actually preseves the wood so it was a very common paint to use. Today people also use other types but the red is a tradition and when people buy a house they like to have a red one :)

  • Good to see you take a look in Europe, its quite a lot different than in the states, it's like really strict out here, it's 15 hours a day and 9 of those is driving hours and two times a week you're allowed to drive 10 hours, every 4:30 hours you need to take, 45 min brake, you can brake them up in 15 min and 30 min not the other way around, you get 56 hours Max driving hours a week and 90 driving hours for two weeks max, have a nice vacation guys 👌

    • That's crazy how similar, yet different the laws are for trucking between Europe and the U.S. In the U.S. per the DOT, it is 14 hours allowed on the clock, 10 hours behind the wheel, and you must have 10 hours off after clocking out before clocking back in for the next day. You are entitled to 2, 15 min breaks and a 30 min lunch(usually unpaid) required by law for an 8 hour shift. Once you get to 10 hours it is either a 2nd (30 min) lunch or a 10 min break. Also you are allowed 60 hours in a 5 day period or 70 hours in a 6 day period, and to reset your clock you need 36 hours off the clock for the next week.

      @jarekg3740@jarekg3740 Жыл бұрын
    • @@fryrony3932 14 hours on duty, 11 hours driving time, 10 hours of continuous off duty before you can come back on duty and start driving again the next day, 30 min break no sooner than 5 hours because most ELDs won't let you take it sooner, and no later than 8 hours, 60 hour limit in a 7 day period before 34 hour reset is needed or 70 hours in an 8 day period before a 34 hour reset is needed.

  • Going through my theory course for my trucking license, from what I learned, its 56hrs a week, 90hrs per two weeks max, a day shift is 9hr max, and two days of the week can be planned as 10hr shifts. Break times are implemented after Max 4,5hr of driving before a break time is needed. Rest/breaks can be divided in parts. Its 45 minutes max but can be divided in short 15min stops. Or 30 min if the driver has a shift less than 9 hours a day, if more than 9hrs, the driver is required to hold 45 min break. Here, loading and unloading is also seen as workhours. As well as the driver driving from and to their home/rest location in their personal vehicle.

    @TobiasRieper047@TobiasRieper047 Жыл бұрын
    • It's always 45 minno matter if you drove 9 or 10 hours after 4.5 hours, you need to make at least 45 min can indeed devide it in 15 and 30 min not the other way around, of course you can decide to do 45 all at once, and a driver going home or coming to home, officially you need to get paid but most companies won't pay it out, unless it's more than a hour, and you get a total of 15 hours of on duty if you sleep 11 hours, after 3X 9 hours of sleep you only get 12 hours of on duty in a day, in theory everything is difficult but as you start driving it All starts to make sense after the first year, good luck getting your theory, what county are you from?

  • Simple hours are (not everything a trucker needs to know, but already too much...): [work/drive times are maximum, break/rest times are minimum] 4.5h continuous driving - to reset this timer, take a 45min break (or 15min, followed by 30min) 9h per day of driving (10 hours twice a week) 56h per week of driving (but 45h average over 2 weeks) weekly rest after max 6 days - normal 45h: weekend at home (truck can't be used as living space, normally taken after 5 days ofcourse) - short 24h: when out on the road, truck can be used as living space depending on how many of the weekly rests were short or normal, a trucker has to return to base/home once every 3 or 4 weeks. I think you can definitly find some trucker at a rest stop who'd love to show and talk about his truck with an american trucker, so don't be shy!!

  • The reason there is "Falu red" coloured houses is because of the Swedish mining industry throughout the past centuries, the bi-products from mining at Falun Mine throughout the past centuries proved useful on houses as it did a good job at keeping houses mostly built out of wood planks from going bad due to mold and bad weather. The Falun Mine provided so much Copper to Europe that it stood for a large majority of the Copper delivered, and helped fund wars during the Swedish Empire era. There is older houses in former Swedish territory that is a reminder of these days.

  • You can buy a good roadmap that features all of Europe at a bookstore (usually located in city centers and barely accessible by car) Simpler roadmaps that feature only Sweden or Scandinavia is not something I have seen for sale for at least a decade. There probably are such maps, perhaps even sold at convenient locations along the roads. However, there seem to be little demand for them, which is too bad because I like using them as a complement to digital maps.
