    • I cheered for Kansas and traveled to the Sweet 16/Elite 8 this year. At first my teammates and I were bummed that we drew Omaha over the other destinations (L.A., Boston, Atlanta), but it was a blast and a great little city. And the games weren't half bad either! ;)

  • These teams have played 6 times in the NCAA tournament ('86, '88, '91, '00, '03, '18). Each team has won 3 times and most incredibly, there is a ONE point separation in the total combined scores of the games. Duke has scored 417 points and Kansas 416 in the six games. Duke has won theirs by 4, 7, and 5 points while Kansas has won by 7, 4 and 4.

  • Guard play was the determinant in this game. Duke (like this year’s team) was lauded for its interior talent/athleticism (in addition to Grayson Allen returning) while Kansas had playmakers in the backcourt and guys who were fundamental in their approach. Many people were fixated on Duke’s size upfront but I figured that guard play was going to factor in this game.

    • Basket interference. In a nutshell, if a shot goes up, a different offense player can't touch or influence it until it's falling off the rim. It probably wasn't an actual shot (I honestly can't tell if he was lobbing it or shooting it) but it was close enough to the rim to at least make the refs think it was a shot

    • Theres a reason Duke played Zone defense throughout the year. They couldn't defend man to man. The way Villanova was making 3 pointers do you really believe Duke would have beat or had a better chance of beating Villanova than Kansas? Villanova would have beat Duke worse than they did to Kansas. Only reason Michigan made Villanova make less 3's and keep it more respectable than kansas was because they scouted what Kansas did wrong and how to defend their blitz threes better. NO ONE was going to beat Villanova. They literally had multiple Stephen Curry's on their team.
