The review I was waiting for the last 2 weeks after the unboxing video before ordering this device. Thank you, Andrew
Your reviews are always so awesome man. You deserve more subs. Seriously good. Influenced a few of my purchases over the years brother!
Good review, keep em coming Andrew. I personally prefer the Z16 Gen 2 - memory is not upgradable, but 64GB is enough for me.
Hi Andrew, really love your extensive reviews! I'm wondering if you can get your hands on the lenovo thinkstation workstations? The new p5, p7 and px machines look insane and would be sick to see a review from you!
I tested a P1 Gen6 Rtx A2000 FHD+, battery life = 9.5 hours
Thats crazy, my asus does 2hrs max
Does the rtx2000 version come with Vapour Chamber?
Thanks a lot for the review - I always look forward to your reviews of ThinkPads. I really am close to pulling the trigger, just am a tad turned off by the lack of Intel Meteor Lake in it. 13th Gen is essentially not up to date now, and Meteor Lake has finally closed Intels gap to last gen AMD Ryzen and Apple M. And also my X1 Extreme Gen 2 is essentially still doing fine, just the gaming performance has started lacking in the last year.
Andrew, I know you put in a lot of work into your videos. I just subbed my friend. Thank you. Btw - didn't think I'd ever see a Thinkpad w a 4080, so dope 😎
Thanks 🙏
This laptop is beautiful! 😍 Saw it yesterday at MicroCenter… I want one now.
I would love to see a review or a comparison to the HP ZBook Studio 16 G10, they are very similiar on paper an are targeting a similiar audience. the HP one also goes up to a A4000 Ada or a RTX 4080 in a under 2kg package!
Beautiful laptop, saw it on sale but wasn't able to buy it, would have to wait😢. I know you reviewed the p1 gen 4, i was wandering about the review for the p1 gen 5?
Nice PC for those users who it is intended for. Camera and mics were good. Speakers sounded okay. Display is good. If you have a memory stick ddr5 lying around you might want to insert it in the second slot and rerun some of your tests to see how much it improves performance. Just a suggestion. Anyway a great review.
Thanks William. Yes, I plan on doing that soon. but I wanted to test it first with the single stick of RAM.
Hate how here's no amd U option. The chassis cooling is actually great and would be better with just a ryzen 7 u alone and it would compete against the M1 line.
I want to ask whether this OLED touch screen adopts the oncell solution and has a grid screen?
Do we know if the P1 Gen 6 supports Double Sided SSDs (e.g. 4TB or 8TB ones), or does it only support single sided SSDs like the older P1 Gen 4?
Lenovo makes very Premium laptops whether you're talking about their consumer line or in this case, their business line and the ThinkPad P1 Gen 6 is a perfect example of a Premium business laptop. The 1440p resolution webcam is crisp and so is the audio quality of the built-in mics. The audio quality of the built-in speakers is not bad for a Windows laptop. As Andrew stated it brilliantly in this video, if this is the laptop you're interested in or any other Lenovo laptop for that matter, keep checking the Lenovo website as they're always having sales! Great video Andrew!! 👍😁
Nice review. Does the trackpad is still made with a soft coating that wears off, becoming a shiny spot in the area where the fingers are most used? If yes, what is your guess about why Lenovo does not use a ceramic coated trackpad?
Would you recommend this over a Razer blade 16?
Will you please tell me how the heating issue is with this laptop? I've read online that even just browsing the web makes it run extremely hot, and it sounds like a jet engine!
When do you think it comes with 14th gen Intel processors?
ım asking for daily task, for example coding with vscode with some chrome tasks.. its totaly work silent like ultrabook? Or can i configure fan speed for this type of tasks?
Have P1 G6 with 13700H and A2000. Superb laptop also have only one 32GB dual channel stick but will upgrade to 64GB quad channel. One of the best features is 4g always on connection and secondary nvme option helps too. I have 2K 165Hz display and its the best option in my opinion as its not glossy at all and 60Hz is not enough. Only issue I had when I got it was with thermals but after repaste with Noctua H1 problems disappeared. Will do TG conductonaut and K5 PRO next week. Should see further improvements.
What are the main difference in between the X1 gen12 and the p1 gen 6/7? I am on finance industry.
Can you replace gpu like on P16 gen 1-2?
I have the same laptop with the same spec. It says the battery would last in about 7 hours or so but mine only last in about 3 hours. I am using it for programming tasks (python, docker, and etc).
Cooling is good. I had three Extremes and the cooling fan was so loud I could not use in court
compare it with hp zbook studio g10
Just got my P1 Gen6 RTX4080 in the mail but as I was booting it up to configure wierd fan clicking noise coming from the left speaker side. Does anyone know if this is “normal”
Lenovo Reaaaally needs to figure out how to add 5G wireless and at minimum a secondary 2230 ssd slot, with the vapor chamber cooling. It makes no sense how the higher you go up in the options, the less options you get lol
can you review msi prestige 16 ai studio
Wow $3200 for this version just fyi. Would of hoped for 64gigs for that price.
Is RAM limited speed? Is it 5600MHz or lower?
Hey, great review :) But just a correction: DDR5 is always dual-channel, even with a single memory stick.
Thanks for the info! Notebookcheck reported this a single channel as well. I am looking into this and will report my findings.
@@andrewmarcdavidthe controller for ddr5 is on the ram itself , each stick runs in dual channel. You will get slightly better performance running two sticks but nothing like the difference when running one stick of ddr4 vs 2 sticks. For ddr5 at the same speed and latency, 32gb will be faster than 16gb that will be faster than 8gb. That is a more important concern. Don’t run 8gb sticks, they are slower.
@@CyberTweaker ok thanks for the clarification
@@CyberTweaker DDR5 runs in dual channel but only 32 bits (2 x 32 bits). If you use 2 stick DDR5, CPU-Z will show 4 x 32 bits, much faster than 1 stick.
A review of the P16v gen 1, please!
First viewer from Bangladesh ❤
Be careful with 96 gig ram. Current users reporting BSOD, with bios updates etc… Lenovo knows about the issue and will be releasing a bios fix.
Lenovo just announced that they are releasing the P1 Gen 7. It seems to be similar but they are adopting the CAMM memory configuration. Andrew - are you going to be testing the new P1 Gen 7 out?
Yes, I am planning on reviewing it.
I love my p1 gen6
I just ordered one, can't wait to get it! My P1 Gen 2 has served me very well, still working, but time for a new table saw!
I wish to see special Scientific applications that can get full advantage of this NLP unit.
with ddr5 even 1 stick works kind of like dual channel so there is no much drop of performance
There are reviews of this that say it overheats and hardware fails after a few hours of use for some, on the higher end spec model.
I have not experienced that with this unit which is one of the high end models. When I ran the Time Spy Stress Test, no throttling detected. Now it does warm up under load as I showed in the video but not to the point where it is not usable or any hardware failure.
I think so, Lenovo is really s|tupid in design, the laptop too hot. I think they will limit/decrease RAM speed in this model but it is still hot.
i truley have just discovered why 2 in 1 laptops are supposed to open 360 degree, if i was laying on bed and needed to set the laptop on my chest and work..
We need a good review of Asus zenbook 14 UX3405 ASAP....
I have one on the way should have it next week
Why it's not Yoga Style ???
To me a 16" tablet is just too heavy for any long term use.
Nit pick on brightness 😂 nice
ThinkPad P1 Gen 6 Intel (16″) Mobile Workstation,Intel® Core™ i9, 96 GB RAM - Black Weave - SUCK. Died down after a week. Reboots/restart, but black dark screen.
There is a bios fix for you 96 GB. Who needs 96 GB anyway???
$2900 msrp, that means it will be $1500 used on ebay next summer. Btw I can never tell if a laptop is a he or she. (or a car for that matter)
I have always thought female but I could be wrong.
@@andrewmarcdavid I think you're right because I can turn her on 🤣
A P1 is badass, so its a boy lol
Those benchmarks are dismal. Would have preferred to see a better comparison with HP and Apple but I get that it's Lenovo's fault.
Look at that empty space that could be used to accomodate bigger battery, RAM, and SSD!! another wasted oppotunity.
A pity they did not include USB C charging
I desperately tried to figure this out, seems to be because usb c can not actually transfer enough power for the gpu
It can indeed charge from usb-c!
@@emrefidan6702 not enough power tho for model with 4090
Its p1 and extreme?!?! Haha
As long as Lenovo keeps these floppy keyboard on every one of their machines, I won't be buying them.
The keyboard (and trackpoint) is one of the big reasons most of us buy Thinkpads.
@@tnetroP The trackpoint is good stuff, the concaved key caps are undeniably wobbly. Also, who puts the FN key where the CTL button is on every keyboard??? Get an Asus or Dell and you'll know what I mean.
@@xuelee6403 It's obviously preference., after all a lot of people said they liked the old mabook butterfly keyboard and I found that to be a mess. I've had Asus and used Dell and prefer the Thinkpad keyboard. The TP keyboard also has a better layout with separate home/end/pgup/pgdn keys which I use a lot. The FN/Ctrl on a TP also works well for me because of why it's done that way; it's because it's easy to locate it without thinking when you need to turn on key backlighting in the dark. Again everything is personal preference and if TP ends up with a Dell or Asus keyboard I wouldn't buy it. Sadly every year that goes past they get thinner and more like those devices.
please compare with a macbook while testing the speakers, we are not able to judge if the speakers are good or not
I'm watching from Turkey
