  • Happy Sunday everyone:) Always remember to adjust day and time before you setup your trail camera. As you can see on the sms I got on my phone, my camera had reset the day/time because the batteries had run out. The reason why this is very important is because you sometimes get the sms in the morning when you turn on your phone and then you will have to rely on the time stamp on the photo itself. Take care everyone and see you out there.. All the best Morten

  • I think I commented on your first field craft video about trail cameras. I bought a cheap on on Amazon and it’s been the best €50 I’ve ever spent. I’m using it less than 500m from my house so I didn’t really need the videos sent to my phone. However, now that I’ve seen the value in a trail camera, I might invest in a connected one. It’s helped me find foxes, badgers and stoats. I wasted so much time watching tracks and holes in the ground in the vain hope an animal would appear. The trail camera has taken the sheer guesswork out of it. If anyone is reading this and considering a trail camera, just buy it. And if you’re not considering buying one, buy one anyway. Edit to say, invest in some bungee cords. The straps can be fiddly.

  • Re: Moisture and condensation, I always place some Silica Gel packets that i get with new shoes and electrical equipment cameras etc and i have shot in cold weather and then inside and getting my lenses all fogged up, but put them in my camera bag inside a large zip bag for a short while and its goes and ut gets any moisture that is trapped anywhere in the camera too. Try it you will be surprised : )

  • Awesome stuff - trail cameras are such great tools for seeing what's about when you're not there, both in the wilds and also in your own garden! I sometimes wish the mobile coverage was better in the Scottish Highlands so I could use 4G trail cameras, but there's no point for me because there is often no good signal where I would want to place them... Looking forward to seeing the badgers :)

    @GeoffCooper@GeoffCooper4 жыл бұрын
    • I have the same problem with little to no signal where I want to put cameras. I love the mountains but the nature of the land makes the signal break up.

    @JoeMaranophotography@JoeMaranophotography4 жыл бұрын
    • Private land may actually help by keeping the public from hiking all over the place. If you are comfortable with contacting the land owner you can ask permission to put a camera up. If they say yes, great, if they say no well you didn't lose anything really. They may also be interested in seeing what wildlife is on the property.

      @zenphotojourney@zenphotojourney4 жыл бұрын
    • As you're from the UK you can try and call your local nature reserve managers from the likes of RSPB or local Wildlife Trusts, though I've found my local Wildlife Trusts to be useless at replying to emails and calls. The RSPB have allowed me to setup trail cameras at certain sites for use with photography. Council owned woodland is always a no.

  • Great Video Morten! I think the only thing I will say and many might agree, these more high tech trail cameras are amazing when you know there is little disturbance from people and have the budget. I love that it has the sharing and remote phone features! I would love to have that but I just use a Apeman h45 as it's cheap, and if it gets stolen (which has happened before) in that case I have lost £50 rather than £300 haha. But I will consider the use of different angles, I do usually place it low to ground, but will try set it away from lots of foliage, it's worked wonders monitoring my local Fox Cubs playing, feeding from mum and helped understand using the timestamps when I can arrive to film them with my DSLR.

  • Great video Morten, i have managed to film ,for the first time, Fox, Deer, Squirrel ,Badger and Pinemartin using my own trail camera for the first time last week. very exciting when you film animals that you very rarely see at other times. Although my camera is not as sophisticated as your own it is still worth having to give me an in site into a world i would otherwise not get access to. Thanks for sharing 👍

  • I´m glad you find out a game changer for you. Unfortunately, at this location (Green Spain, north) wildlife has been stressed and hunted for years.. even if you set up a trail camera network you only realize that your surrounding "wildlife population" are only crepuscular, and you have nothing to do with this situation, flashes are not an option here. However, I track animals and make a map of their trace, any trace, and then tryd figure out the spiral annd pray for no hunting´s dog or hunters disturbed their path and broke the spiral. healthy envy, but envy. Keep working hard and sharing your experiencie. thaks you so much.
