Active police K9 handlers are usually at the tip of the spear when it comes to dealing with the toughest calls. I sat down with Kyle Shoberg, who’s spent 14 years as a police officer - and half of that as a handler. We get in to the difficulties of policing in such a polarized political climate and also numerous shootouts he’s been in during his tenure.

One of the best parts about having K9 handlers on the podcast is how the bite stories always make Ritland giggle like a school girl, followed by "thats fn awesome". Love it.
dont know if you guys gives a shit but if you're bored like me during the covid times then you can stream pretty much all of the latest movies on InstaFlixxer. Have been binge watching with my gf for the last few days =)
@Tucker Ezekiel Yea, I've been using Instaflixxer for since november myself :)

Forsure 😆 🤣
I did seven years in Marine Corps and then retired (23 yrs) as a Deputy Sheriff! Thank you both for your service!🙏🏻🇺🇸
Thank you for your service!!
America is great because of those in uniform 🇺🇸
SEMPER FI MARINE
Thanks, brother. Thank you.
Thank you sir
*_I retired from NYPD last year & redirected my younger kids who were going to go into the "family business" because nobody has your back these days, despite having a perfect record for 22 years. After retiring long before I had planned, we moved out onto our ranch in OK & the local Sheriff came & introduced himself. What a cool dude, I watched him on TV & he has his guys back. We're in a 2A sanctuary too, thanks to him. So when he offered me a job I took it._*
Good for you man honestly. Sucks when you have to can a career over politics, and BS.
Glad to hear that there are places where there is still loyalty and back bone
I worked for the CHP for 27 years, they took pride in fucking over officers as often as possible!!
I've been a police officer for 25 years and I've never heard of EMDR Therapy. So I thank Officer Shoberg for talking about PTSD and EMDR Therapy. Maybe Police Departments will embrace this. But knowing how Police Chiefs and Departments are, I doubt it!
Thank you for your service Officer Shoberg. I’m from Sac. I agree with your comment about the media and what they choose to show. It’s frustrating how they want society to hate cops, ignoring all the stories of great things they’ve done.
“So we gave her 60 bucks and I bought her a Big Mac” 😂🤣🤣 damn I thought he was gonna say a couple thousand. Idk if I’d wanna get bit in the face for $60 lol
This hasn’t even premiered yet, but I already know it will better than anything on regular TV.
Looking out my window is better than anything on regular tv. Anyways you're correct sir
You gotta watch HBO or Netflix
You mean the friendly neighbourhood brainwashing device which people who want to be entertained instead of doing something with their lives use? If Mike brings folks from other aspects of life, he will be the next Rogan.
Way better than tv I love those clips of the “scene”
By far
Kyle is the copper every cop looks up to. His agency is lucky to have him. Hope he continues to be an inspiration to many young coppers,; we need men like him, especially in today's world. I wish him luck, because the weight of the world is heavy when he retires. I'm going to look into this therapy he's spoken about. Thanks a million for sharing your vulnerability. Many cops are especially broken upon retirement, this is an important message you're putting out. Much respect to you Mike for this video.
Thank you, James! I appreciate the support.
Kyle you are super badass. Double so for not quitting and sounding like you are there for the long haul. We need cops like you. Love this pod cast.
An amazing interview! Kyle is what we called a cops cop, thank you for your service, be safe out there. 💙
Mr. Mike, Appreciate the editing of the live videos into the interview. Officer Shoberg, appreciate your honesty, and your service.🇺🇲💯
Goddam I'm proud that our country can produce officers like you. Mike, well done! Yet again. This stuff needs PRIME TIME airing.
One my favorite podcasts! Terrific. Any K9 Officer is a worker. The level of commitment to the dog and the Job is inspiring. I'm getting ready to retire and always wanted to work with a dog. Just lost one to gunfire a few weeks ago. They are heros. God bless. Great job Mike.
Thank you to both Mike & Kyle. Excellent LEO perspective. With people like Kyle on the job, the future looks brighter for all.
I love these videos. Mike makes the best content ever, opens more sides to a story and perspectives. Can't wait for the next video!
Thank You Mike for being back. Absolutely love the content.
Great interview. I'm glad you got to include some k9 stuff. I appreciate your guest giving his perspective on current police issues. Thanks
Hi Mike & Kyle. As a former military brother I was going to skip this video as I felt it would be out of my wheelhouse. I am SO GLAD I didn't. This was the most rational, logical & humorous interview IMO you have ever done. Kyle's assessment of solution oriented change - for the better truly amazed me. Also as an owner of an awesome GS Doggie "Hondo" I should have realized he is a K9 Sergeant - and I have never met a Shepherd lover that I didn't get along with. Well done Sirs!
My son is a Department of Public Safety Trooper for the great state of Texas,, I asked him when he was recently out of the Academy how many tickets did you write today,,, he informed me in a very professional voice,,, “ my job isn’t writing speeding tickets,, it’s protecting the safety of the citizens of Texas”,,,, very profound,,,
Bullshit…u shoulda asked him again how many tickets dude?
Great content Mike 👏 Killing it .. Amazing insight for the general public .. Keep up the good work 💪
You sir are like the real life Bosch. Great show if you haven't watched it yet. Thank you for your service. You have all my respect and I will respect law enforcement even more than I already do thanks to you.
Nothing gets Mike as frothy as a good dog bite story 🤣
An amazing young man, he looks like he is 14yo, I found myself holding my breath with those shootings, especially the K9 shot in the face. Mike's guests are the most awesome, inspiring people. The idiots that are the keyboard critics make me want to fight them when they have no idea how life and death decisions take seconds. I was an ER nurse and Captain in Army Nurse Corps, not a gunfighter but I understand where they are coming from. Thanks Mike for another outstanding podcast. Thank God for men like Kyle to serve and protect, as well as the magnificent K-9s
Way more interesting than I thought it would be... It made a massive difference being able to show the video footage. Also, the context throughout was informative and heartfelt! Cheers guys from Wales, UK!
Props to Kyle and thanks for the service and too all cops ! Another great interview from the one and only MIKE DROP !
God bless our Police 🇺🇸
God bless those in America that support the police 🇺🇸
Great job, Rit. Enjoyed the hell out of it.
Great interview Mike!! Love love the military interviews but this is a nice/ different perspective!! Respect and appreciate both your service, thank you!!!
Great Job on this one Mike. Great interview and I love, love, love the integrated clips from the street chase and shooting and the FLIR camera footage with the explosives guy
Thank y'all for your Service.
29 years as a police officer in Washington DC with the Metropolitan Police Department...til retirement in 2019 at the age of 50. No day is the same and one mistake can get you killed. No mistakes can also get you killed. This isn't playstation where you can restart after getting shot or violently stabbed etc...you have one time to get it right. Training is essential but lacking due to the schedules and lack of manpower on the streets. Yes there are numerous officers that should not be in the occupation but somehow they are there. There are no breaks in the game of law enforcement you go from call to call whether it's a baby dead from abuse to a elderly person that's decomposing in her apartment with no family to contact. There is no pause til your shift is over...mostly the interaction with citizens isn't positive because you are there after they have been a victim or they may be the suspect rarely is it positive..so in most cases your the enemy no matter what the outcome is...imagine having a occupation where you are hated by the majority...?...imagine having to search a homeless individual that has defecated and urinated on himself....yep still have to search as though he hasn't miss a weapon and someone dies..or is severely injured...imagine being a call for service away from death on every call...imagine a individual telling you they're not going to jail...imagine fighting the individual to get them into the transport vehicle slippery and sweaty....as you fight with him along with other officers...imagine every fuck up unjustified shooting by a officer you take the heat for it every time you put the uniform on...imagine doing the shit I described and you have to debate with local politicians just to get a raise....for shit no one wants to do or has what it takes to do with lacking support...imagine having the power to take a life and freedom...the most POWER anyone can have to be able to do it...authorized...imagine running toward the threat of gunplay and others are running away....imagine being insensitive to death...or damn near anything based on experience in a occupation that makes you numb...imagine working with no days off....imagine working from 10pm to 6am...only to have to go to court and you get out 5pm...just to be back to work again at 10pm...that night..imagine having no clue what it's like to do it 29 years straight uninterrupted...to retire...in good health...
Well put, cheers, 27 years in Dallas PD retired now over 7 years. Enjoy yours you earned it.
@@newflover congratulations as well...we are survivors...lots don't make it..thanks..
Congrats on retirement and thank you both for your service we do appreciate you and what you did for your community!! Well done!!
@@BigBuckHunter0826 thanks appreciate it..
God bless brother 🇺🇸
More ppl need to hear these stories because I don’t think ppl realize that cops see more combat on a daily basis in their own backyard than a majority of soldiers who are deployed overseas.
Really loved this podcast. Kyle is a real trooper. We appreciate the work you've done. God send!
Thank you! -Kyle
Mike is so well spoken. Great episode 🇺🇸
This is totally worth the listen. Thank you to these men and the ones like them for their service!
Thank you brother for listening. -Kyle
Mike, this was a phenomenal interview. Kyle is truly a hero and thank you for giving him the platform to tell his story.
This was great to listen to. Mike, I appreciate you taking the time to sit down with LEO and get into the nitty gritty of what’s going with LEO today. There is a slow constant chiseling away at the emotions of a cop!! Kyle shows how important it is to manage that.
Great interview Mike, really enjoyed this one.. :-)
Thank you both for your service. As a Leo myself it’d be nice to see more cops on pragmatic platforms like this so more people can see our human side. Great convo mike, ur the man and thank you for your support! We need it right now! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🙏
Great episode. Love seeing the video clips incorporated.
Kyle, you were such a great guest. Your stories are crazy, especially coupled with the videos. Thanks a lot, Mike for putting all this together, and thanks to Kyle for all you've done and the lives you saved.
Can’t wait! Should be a good one!
I’m surprised you have only 100k subscribers. Some of the best podcasts I’ve seen...
Thank you Mike, these Podcasts are bloody great.
Excellent podcast as usual Mike. I enjoyed hearing a cops thought on life
This was one of the best podcasts I've listened to. Wow. He's hardcore. Hats off to all who serve.... as cops or military.
Thank you Nancy! 🙌
Thanks for this Mike!!!!
Just watched it awsome podcast!! Im just now getting my foot into the law enforcement field keep it up brother thank you both for your service!!
Profound. You continue to bring amazing content.
love the intro with your trident!!! Thank you for your higher form of Patriotism 🇺🇸💖🇺🇸
Another good interview. Thank you Mike and esp Kyle for sharing his stories. I hope other police organizations will learn from his experiences, and I hope to God that people realize what some LE officers have to go through is just as bad (or sometimes worse) as active duty military. They should be respected and revered in the same manner.
Kyle you are such a great guest. Thank you for this interview. Great interview Mike.❤️
Thank you !
Loved the show! Kyle we need more officers like you! Really liked all your stories. Mike as always well done sir. FyF
Looking forward to it.
Damn Mike, another great one! This dude is hard as woodpecker lips. Nice work! 🇺🇸💪💪🏻💪🏿💪🏽🇺🇸
Thank you brother. -Kyle
Love it how Mike isn't holding back from taking the mickey out of the copper on not being into martial arts. Mike, keep being yourself mate! You'll get to the million subs and then some. Greetings from AU!
Ya man I’m hoping jiu jitsu catches on in the LE world. It could make their lives sooo much safer when they have to go hands on. You don’t even need a ton of training. A little bit of grappling time can set you worlds apart from your average dude.
A crappy day turned good when Mike drops another badass merica video! Hell yeah!
Great show like always
Great episode!
Reminder set! Coffee Pot on! It's going to be a great morning.
Whenever someone says, “It’s an honest job...”, that means it’s a SHIT job. Haha. Love this interview. Mike and the kid did a phenomenal job. Godspeed Sirs!
Well said but the officer is not a kid.I'm guessing,he's in his mid-thirties.
EPIC Podcast
Hot sauces on order. Thanks, Mike!
Awesome interview Mike. 👍🏻
Fantastic information. Thank you, shared.
Great episode! I sat down for just a few minutes... 3 hours later. I could listen to this shit all day. Thanks fellas.
Great episode, thank you gentlemen 👍
Amazing stories, shoutout to all the warriors out there protecting our great country.
Out of 72 episodes, this is only the 2nd one I couldn't finish. Thank you Mike, for keeping it real and for holding people accountable and not being afraid to say, what alot of people think.
@@thetruth7046 What I heard was nothing of the sort. I heard what I heard, from the horses mouth. You have no idea how far I listened, yet you want to try to tell me what I "missed"? We all have different takeaways I guess.
The Truth sounds like he kinda did in his original comment?
@@Ilych367 You are correct Mr. Watson, I did. In this day and age, with the internet, sometimes I have to realize, while most do not, that not everything has to be up for discussion.
Great job Mike as always 👏 👍
Damn !!! What an episode !!! Brought back some past memories of my own with assailants and gunfire. The life of a first responder ! Love your show Mike and a huge Aussie fan.
Great interview, great questions, and great guest. Rock on Heroes!!! --From a retired mil and LE person. Be Safe!!!
Finally one on a Friday
Best dog story ever and the dog survived. He did his job!! Fantastic and the police too. Love it.
Great show and guest What a small world I worked for the fire dept in that city, now retired
I really enjoyed this podcast!
Should be a very interesting! Cant wait to watch
Great podcast!!
Hands down the best podcast show out there
Cheers Mike
Thanks for sharing your experience strength and Hope
Awesome Mike being frmr LEO in 80s Calif I can tell you this was a great podcast Sir as always appreciate your service.
This dude has been in some serious engagements
outstanding guys, Thanks!
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.
Awesome cop, great podcast. Give respect, get respect 🤙🏼
Holy hell man. Great episode. Back the blue.
I love Mike's view on instant justice.
Mike, you should definitely get Rick Gore from the channel Think Like A Cop. He's a retired air force k9 handler and California cop. He's one of the most interesting people I've ever listened to. KZhead's been fuckin' with him so the channel has been renamed to Good luck America. Check him out.
Hell yeah! He's in Texas too I believe.
Absolutely, Rick Gore would be a great guest. As he has much more experience than this guy along with a great sense of humor.
Rick is an awesome dude and funny as hell
Ya but Rick thinks people with tattoos are all bad guys and it's just nonsensical BS he got stuck in his head. I started watching him and was enjoying it until I started hearing him talking down on people with tats. Any rational thinking adult with a halfway functioning brain would understand that tattoos have absolutely nothing to do with how good or bad a person is.
Thank You ! ! 👍👍
The problem with cops and the good and the bad is we only hear about the bad they don't advertise the good like they should
Maybe if the good spoke out against the bad the public perception of them would be better. The media definitely isn’t helping though
This guy has to write a book. Fantastic interview.
I’d love to write a book... just need to figure out how to go about that, ha! 🤔
Retired Fla, PBSO Deputy, looking forward to it!
Palm beach county in FL?
Oh hell ya! I’m in California so I’m sure this one will hit close to home.
@Bernie I like this podcast. What are you doing here??
@Bernie You stalking me?
@Bernie That’s what I thought. So you like this podcast too then I take it?
@Bernie Hell ya man. Check out Cleared Hot if you haven’t yet. Definitely in the same genre.
Good shit. Get more cops in, Mike!
Two amazing guys!!
Such a good guy. His pod cast is great
Great episode!! Love the one with Dakota Meyer as well
Better than Joe Rogan
Right, Joe interrupts his guests every 15 seconds. So fucking annoying.
Great podcast Mr. Ritland! Thank you for all you do for our warrior dogs! Thank you Mr. Shoberg for advocating for Dax so he can live a great life on a 2000 acre farm. I’m sorry to say that I chuckled a bit when learning how you had to let him out of your car and hide behind the door! Almost as funny as $60 and a Big Mac!
Haha thank you. Love, Dax. Thanks for the listen. -Kyle
Strange new respect for citrus heights P.D ! Sacramento local here , keep knocking them down we need YOU!
Great show
