If you can't bend over and reach, that means you can't use your other hand to stabilize your toes as you cut. So I'm not sure how an extended tool or an electric tool would help with that issue.

I’ve only recently had trouble reaching my toe nails. I have always cut & shaped my toe nails w/ a slight curve on either side to match my fingernails. If I cut the nails straight across, they seem to thicken on the top sides & become like ingrown toenails, thickened nail corners & sharp. I hope it’s okay to continue cutting them w/ the slight curve. My big toes & index fingers grew w/ a natural inward curve which also affects the shape of those nails. I found your instructions on the internet v. helpful & reassuring, firm, clear & understandable! I did my big toes while watching & listening to your instructions. Thank you!
Formerly active surfer girl but now age 80:. It's humiliating having to go to someone else but cannot reach feet anymore and much less see what I'm doing except in outdoor light. I'm just too embarrassed believe it or not. ☹️
I am 63. Reading glasses power around 200. What I do is sit on the edge of my bed. Lift either foot up on the bed sill. Left hand holding both a magnifying glass and torchlight, right hand alternating between a nail file, tweezers and fine scissors. I had to very carefully trim and cut, as deep as I dare, the right margin and bottom part of my left big toenail, which was ingrowing at the BOTTOM right corner.
So true I have the problem 89 years old, I can't get down that far and sometimes scared I will cut my toe flesh ?

I've always cut my toenails curved, like most nail clippers are shaped, and like most folks cut fingernails. Never had an ingrown nail. The only people I've seen with ingrown nails cut them straight across, and the corners resulting from cutting them straight across are what gets pushed down into the skin and hurts and causes trouble. Also, the geometry of it just doesn't make sense to me. I'd suggest you cut your toenails curved if you can reach them well enough. Mentioning the existence of toe clippers with long handles is fine, but why not show them and show them in use by someone with reduced mobility? Is an electric cutting tool going to help if you can't reach your toes? Why not show some electric tool clippers and how they help when you can't reach your toes. Mentioning the price would be useful too. It also uses a model who is not old and who has no trouble reaching their toes. It might even be a second person cutting them in some parts of the video. And open toed sandals are great for keeping your toes and your whole foot free from athlete's foot. Closed toes shoes promote both fungus and bacterial growth.

I agree! And in my local nail shops, pedicure is a paint shop. I have used 4 different spots, average of 4-6 visits with same results=poor outcome. More interested in finger nail art, poor filing of toenails, excellent nail polish, $$$ for end result of painful ingrown toenails, fungus(from one) and back to finding a way to cut my own with poor mobility and unable to easily reach feet.
How do you cut an ingrown nail at the BOTTOM corner ? And such a case has nothing to do with how you cut them at the top, or lifestyle. It's partly a deformity, partly age, partly genetic. The dermatologist says he can use his laser to burn the whole margin off right down to just below the cuticle, if it gets any worse.
My doctor told me straight across. I haven't had an ingrown nail since I have done it that way.
I always have followed the contour of the nail for myself and my patience’s.

Best way is sit in your lazyboy chair and get an experienced mobile podiatrist to cut them properly. Straight across is not always the best solution - with age toenail shapes vary considerably and care must be tailored
