I'm so glad to learn the story behind Poppy. I wasn't sure if she was just a pet. Some animals should not be pets, but in this case, she can't be released. I'm so glad she has a good home.

I heavily disagree. If the person is taking care of them and actually giving them everything they need plus some wants, there's no reason NOT to allow a pet that is normally wild. But that is a necessity they actually know what they're doing for the specific animal, but I'm sure many wild animals would rather be pets, not having to deal with the dangers of other animals and whether or not they'd find food.
@@eldenvedetta635 Hell no. Capturing wild animals and forcing them to be cute pets for our entertainment is just cruel and is contributing to f up our ecosystems. Many parts of the world have banned prairie dogs commerce because most of them were stolen from their families in the most cruel ways.
I love how when she hears her name - she throws her head and arms up as if to say "that's ME" and celebrate herself and her new wonderful life with this couple. She is TOO cute!!

This is cute. I remember working with prairie dogs and how fun it is. The calls that she makes is called a jump-yip which is used to call to alert others of danger or to relax others. This is such a unique position to be in. But I have to emphasize that prairie dogs do not make for good pets. So if you want to see one go to a zoo or prairie dog town. Also try and help with prairie dog conservation efforts.
You are absolutely right that is not a normal environment for the little guy. He would be so much happier with his own kind. People are so selfish.

I follow Poppy and her amazing Dad(Paul) and Mom. She definitely is a daddy’s girl though, it’s so adorable how she sleeps with him. I never saw anyone devote so much of their time to a rescue. Poppy is really loving her best life 💗💞

Thank you. Agreed. In a typical situation there should be at least a pair, but Poppy does not do well with others. Because of this we spend a significant amount of time with her during the day to make sure she gets adequate time and attention
I just wanted to alert you about the ribbon hanging in Poppys apartment. She can accidentally get that wrapped around her neck and choke. Also be careful in parks with dogs that can hurt her. Love you and her.
And, it is REALLY cute that she makes the alarm call when mommy is upset. 😄

Here's my prairie dog story. I was driving through southern Wyoming and stopped at a rest area, which had a prairie dog colony. I had never seen them in person before. They were basically working the crowd for food. I noticed this one really being a character and saw that she was nursing. After getting several humans' attention, she popped into her hole and brought out her 4 young children, lined them up, got them to sit up, and made a sweeping motion with her arm like any proud parent. It made me run to my car and bring back whatever I had to offer. Incredibly interactive and charming critters, I will never forget her.

Read the comment that says that normally p. Dogs do NOT make good pets! That's what's not so good about this kind of video. It could encourage people to try to domesticate and adopt what is normally a wild animal.
