I am 44,and was blessed to see The Righteous Brothers in concert in Reno when I was a kid, just before Bobby was hospitalized here with cancer. They had been my favorite artists of all time up until the A cappella vocal band Home Free during the past 10 years. Both groups share the same style of talent, timing, harmonies, and the special way they soothe the heart and soul with their music.

The girl who arranged the social part was the wife of the team captain and turned out to be Welsh. She had a bit of a falling out with her husband over something or other and my entire team, plus supporters, serenaded her with this song. It worked. I will never forget the look in her eyes as she watched the boys slowly approaching and then looked to her man. Pure joy.

  • Rock and Roll Heaven was another big hit of theirs. Back when I was a kid my great uncle owned a bar in the town we lived in. My grandfather, his brother, my grandmother, my great aunt, my uncle and my father worked there at times. We'd go on the weekends, back when family services wouldn't get called, for dinner, hanging out playing pinball, shuffleboard and dropping dimes in the jukebox, 3 songs for a dime, and all the stuff from the fifties and sixties were in there.
