    • @Invictus maneo PaxAmericana I think I read that they use 40% of land for green space. And what do you mean with the lost of individuality? East - Southease Asian culture is revolved around family. Duty to the family before individuality as far as I know. I think asians already found a balance between individuality and everything else.

  • As an American, I am continuously shocked at what it actually look like when a country is governed in a way that is dedicated to improving and sustaining a good quality of life for its people. America is the richest country on the planet and it is a shame that we do not even attempt half of these policy’s and projects. Such a beautiful thing to see a country that strive for innovation first, and not profits above all else like the US has.

    • Singapore was essentially a benevolent dictatorship under Lee Kuan Yew for decades after independence. This was a non-trivial contributor to sustainable long-term planning and development in the city-state. The contrast is stark compared to Hong Kong's plutocratic rule by wealthy developers and mandarins from London and now Beijing.

  • As a Singaporean, I would recommend Singapore as a great place to visit and if possible to stay for a few months, soak in the innovative vibe and take in as many ideas as you can. But like Japan, be forewarned the pace is intense. As days turn into months and months turn into years, it will wear you out. There is always someone better after your job, some other company trying to destroy yours. If you get a good business running, it is tempting to run it 7 days a week. The money can be good. Taxes are low. The time will come when you will yearn for less crowds and more wide open spaces and your own space, and this city living will become a pleasant curse. Pleasant because it is safe and clean and how long you want to tolerate it before it drives you crazy.

The combination of the collective disposition of its native people and those who choose Singapore to live in, together with the government tools that strive for the country's general modernity, is what makes Singapore such a wonderful gem. Besides being one of the most amazing places to go sightseeing, it's a magnificent place to think about living forever.

But it is also because most of them do not have to worry about food / shelters, and thus they can focus on doing what they love. That's why it's important for a country to help all their citizens get sufficient education and minimize the amount of poorer households so that everyone can focus on other things.

Nobody believes us when we tell them it takes 20 years to pay off a $300,000 apartment, 10 years for a $15,000 loan to buy a Toyota Camry, etc. Mexico is not under developed. Your country is being sabotaged by your neighbor who supports guns & gangs violence, drug trafficking, corruption of your politicians, etc. Ask your relatives, ask your buddies, who is destroying Mexico and why. • Thanks NatGeo for a brilliant documentary affording Singapore the well-deserved recognition and achievements that many in the world aren't aware. The details found in this documentary is highly educational and informational which perhaps many wouldn't have known even if they live in Singapore. Singapore is not perfect by any measure, and so is every other city out there. Nevertheless, Singapore's achievements are remarkable relative to many other cities. I am proud to be Singaporean (in a humble way) and the amazing feats we have achieved thus far while we continue to push the boundaries of possibilities to surpass previous milestones. Kudos and heartfelt appreciation to the SG government, all Singaporeans as well as all the talented and hardworking foreigners living and working in Singapore, who have contributed extensively to this amazing city. Keep it up SG!

    • Most of what Singapore does as a society/government is not innovated in Singapore, but LEARNT from other nations. They then bring it back to the country, debate on how best to use this in a way that works best in our society, and implement it. This is something that Singapore's leaders have said time and again. IMO the most important thing is not innovation, but implementation. Hope you get a chance to visit Singapore someday!

    • @Dude Trust Me I think we shouldn’t confuse innovation with invention. Most new technologies today were a result of innovation from past inventions. So I do think Singapore is constantly looking for ways to innovate. Let’s continue to learn from each other, innovate and progress. 💪🏻💪🏻

    • We don't really have a solution to everything. But we are learning, growing and constantly thinking about ways to keep up with the times and stay relevant. This is why we treasure our relations with countries all over the world. Without their help and faith in us, we will not have the capability to go this far.
