Stupid dumb ass
You do get that people have a hard time later in their life with implants and outer procedures because you teeth are not in line.
Lol
I’m so stupid... I’ve been using tooth paste the whole time.😑 No wonder lol
Jelly Maya you where suppose to dry them?
Same, but you’re not dumb. I’d rather use toothpaste than use hand soap .... but now we should start using mouth wash
Toothpaste turned my retainer white
@@lingling2823 😭😭 same I’m so stupid 🥲😂
Not trying to be a smartass or anything but you're not meant to use toothpaste as it is too abrasive and would leave stains or something like that on your retainers
just got my retainers today!! tysm for the clear explanation 💛
I tried the mouthwash cleaning method and it worked for me!
Thank you - this helped
thank you so much form KSA ..THIS WAS SO HELPFUL 😍

i have the wire retainers. how often should you soak them in denture cleanser?
mouthwash cleaning method for my retainers, is very useful and clean :)
No, it should not. Always a soft toothbrush to clean.
Does this work also with Hawley Retainers?
Is crest scope mouthwash fine to use ?
Can I use foamy hand soup for cleaning them?
Question: Is it possible that a Waterpik water flosser could damage the clear Essix retainer if you used it on it to try to remove any accumulated plaque? (I am referring to the Waterpik water flosser that has a tank, rather than the hand-held device, which has fewer settings). If you used it at a high jet setting, the pressure might it make it more vulnerable to potential fractures (e.g. make it more brittle permanently, although I don't really see how....I don't know)? OR- it wouldn't really damage the plastic because it is just water? Please let me know your opinion. Thank you 🙏
I just cleaned my retainers using the soap method. Gross! Don't do it, unless you don't mind the soapy after taste. It remained, even after the heavy rinsing.
using a gentle foaming hand soap has worked very well for me so far.
I use liquid soap and just rinse it under cold water until the smell of soap is gone lol
Use dishwasher
Thanks that helped
Applicable to Invisalign aligners ?
i have the wire retainers and i was told to wash mines with soap…..i wash it with dawn antibacterial soap everyday twice a day but i hate having a soapy taste in my mouth…. what should i do?
Can you use any vinegar like apple cider vinegar
Bruh I’ve been using tooth paste the whole time thank you I just cleaned them with soap and they look good as new
Is mouthwash better than soap ?
What if i throw it away
Get a new one asap
Their is actually retainer cleaner . Like the stuff that's for dentures .
My retainer broke a little should I get a new one?
yessss! if it cracks a little you have to tell your orthodontist right away. it could mess up your whole placement. xx
Marlen Arteaga no

I was told to only use mouthwash, water, and retainer cleansing tablets and nothing else
Got mine a week ago and I’ve been using toothpaste, hopefully this works better
Did it work better?
The Lovette Gamers yes, use mouth wash. Toothpaste makes them cloudy and gross
Tymicsha Yes, I just got mine 3 days ago it’s really weird. Thanks! :)
The Lovette Gamers you’ll get used to them, just wear them as much as possible and wash them when you wake up bc they smell after you sleep sometimes and I like to wash them before I go to bed too or whenever I brush my teeth during the day
I use those fizzy retainer tablets add warm water and let sit in cup to clean until bedtime.
My dentist told me to use toothpaste and I’ve been doing that but almost every video I’ve seen on retainer maintaining has said to avoid toothpaste.. Anyone else use toothpaste?
Yes, people in these comments have said they've used toothpaste and now their retainers are cloudy. I wouldn't use toothpaste due to their experience. Just be simple and use mouth wash or soap.
My otherdontist actually told me to brush my teeth like normal then with the remaining toothpaste on my toothbrush I should use that to clean my retainer hope that helps😀
I literally just used mouthwash and it works like a charm. AVOID TOOTHPASTE!
They will become very foggy I usually use standard hand soap that says antibacterial
My dentist just told me to use a toothbrush WITHOUT toothpaste or anything
Mmm my doctor told me to use dish soap… haven’t tried it yet, but now I’m confused because everyone seems to wash them with liquid soap
I think dish soap is liquid soap
@@jairoalquisiras545 Jajaj right, sorry I wrote “liquid soap” instead of “hand soap”
I could barely hear what she was saying, I had to put the volume of my phone at Maximum Haha
I hate the smell of the retainer and case and I clean the case by using hand scope and washing it out with water. I have 7 cases
I heard using a mouthwash that contains alcohol was bad for the retainers. Is that mouthwash you are using alcohol free?
Nowadays, if your mouthwash is alcohol free, it would be labelled as such. Colgate produces both alcohol and alcohol free versions.
@@smilesandfacesortho you didn't answer the question
@@ixaFerd lmfao
My orthodontist gave me a paper that said NOT to brush my retainers with toothpaste, in all caps. But they told me I SHOULD wash them with toothpaste. What do I do????
Don't clean with toothpaste
That was my mistake they need a proper clean
Can you leave them in mouth wash? To soak?
The Illusion no
Your not even sappose to use mouth wash bc the alcohol will wear the retainer out
lily flower use non alcoholic mouthwash
Wont using handsoap give a bad taste in ur mouth or no?
REZZI use alcohol free mouthwash . Unless you want to be tasting dish soap .😥
i was told not to use mouth wash on my retainers, it doesnt do any damage?
Hi veronica, mouthwash helps to give it a fresh breath and taste. Mouthwash is fine- it is more the use of toothpaste that can scratch retainers
Well thank you so much for responding I thought they would get warped but now I'll do that instead thank you so much
ive used toothpaste once. does that make a difference ?😰
My otherdontist actually told me to brush my teeth like normal then with the remaining toothpaste on my toothbrush use that to brush my retainer hope that helps😀
my orthodontist said to remove the toothpaste after i brush my teeth because the toothpaste can scratch the retainer
what on earth is that accent australian/american?
I used hot water is that bad?
Xx Subbyy xX yes, hot water can change the shape of the retainers as they are heat sensitive. Hope that helps
yes it might melt it
Someone's from Minnesota
I got told to not brush my retainer with a toothbrush. will it actually scratch it?
Yeah it will get cloudy overtime
My orthodontist told me to clean it with a tooth brush
Joel Dharamraj my dentist said to use a toothbrush
Yes i got mine today and my orthodontist said the same. Dont use a toothbrush.
Use what then??
could you use dish washing soap
Emmanuelle Catane yeah you can
My orthodontist said so s little toothpaste and watch it and yea don’t do that. I’m about to go try the mouth watch method. I’ll keep y’all updated
How are they like?
My orthodontist told me to clean my retainers with toothpaste and now they look nasty? How to I fix that
I know!! mine too!!!
Tooth paste scratches the retainer. That's what makes the retainer look scuffed or dusty. I use liquid hand soap and my retainer looks clean and clear, so that's what I recommend:)
Aubrey Moser ok thanks.
When I used clear soap it left a taste in my retainers so I am using mouth wash now. Do you ever have that taste or did I not wash it out enough?
Tori Park use dishwashing liquidm
Don’t use mouth wash! The alcohol in it could mess it up
Use alchohol free mouthwash
Doesn't the mouth wash stain the retainer?
you should ent even be doing it with a tooth brush it scratches it
omg i been using toothbrush since 7 months
Thank fukin god this vid helped me out a lot pls make more well inrl how i would say that is plasasssss makessssss morrrrss
I was told that I could use toothpaste to watch them , should I stop ??
Evelyn Cux my dentist told me toothpaste would degrade them. Id stick to soap and mouthwash love.
my dentist told me to use dish washing liquid.
Mau Reen ya same😂
They told me not to use mouthwash
I got my retainer today, and I was told to not use toothpaste and to use dish soap.
Phoebe Galatian me too
me too
Annie J rinse them in 50% water 50% viniiger and wait an hour
My dentist told me to use tooth paste and don't use mouth wash Lol
jolly 123 my dentist said to not use toothpaste because there are crystals in the tooth paste that can scratch the retainer
Herivelto Pereira mine said the same
Mine said they get foggy and stay like that
ana aguillon if you use mouth was and brush well foggyness goes away
You don't use toothpaste, mouthwash or hand soap. you don't let your retainers dry. Have to soak in water during the day to keep it moist and clean with baking soda or vinegar n rinse before putting it on for night time.
lekababe01 Vinegar is an acid. It will literally dissolve it.
If you have to wear it 24/7 then that method isn’t useful
Yeah I wear mine 24/7 for 8 weeks c
Can’t hear you
make sure you DON’T use toothpaste on them. it ruins them
Brushing it with a toothbrush is too abrasive, I speak from experience.
Fuzzy Mino Kitten. What else do I use?
